30 Messages Found In Clothing Labels

By Kirsty 1 year ago

1. Need Your Help

Image Source: EastCoastRadioThis one is even more strange because the 'HELP ME' message has been included as though trying to hide within the normal instructions so that it might not be easily noticed (maybe by the employer?). 'Need your help' has been included so casually within the care instructions that it's haunting.

2. I Have Dental Pain

Finding a cry for help in one of your clothing labels has to be worrying, but it's even worse when it's so specific. This label reveals 'I have dental pain' which sounds like an SOS call from someone who's working in a factory without health benefits or without the means to get themselves treatment... Scary, right?

3. Degrading Sweatshop Conditions

This one isn't so much haunting as straight to the point with an angry message. 'Degrading sweatshop conditions' is included on the label as not so much a cry for help but a worryingly calm statement of fact for this clothing supplier, drawing attention to the problem.

4. Forced To Work Exhausting Hours

It's nothing really new to learn that some workers are being forced to complete extortionate hours for bare minimum pay, and especially when it comes to producing fast fashion. This woman discovered this 'forced to work exhausting hours' label included inside her new dress.

5. Help Me

Another haunting message found in a clothing label that's just a general cry for help - 'HELP ME' in capital letters is something nobody wants to see when they've just purchased a new item of clothing. Could it be indicating bad factory work conditions?

6. SOS! SOS! SOS!

The cry for help on this label is clear, with the SOS! headline. The most haunting part is it seems to be handwritten on the label as though it was a desperate inclusion before the item was shipped out. The message roughly translates to be from prisoners stating they're forced to produce clothing. Primark has since suggested it's most likely a hoax.

7. Really Really Pretty Blonde Girls

For something a little happier now, this clothing label declares the item to be 'made with love' - as you would always hope for your clothing items - but very specifically by really really pretty blonde girls! There's nothing like a little self-confidence, ladies, is there?

8. Do Not Wear Alone

Another example of a funny label that takes it to the extreme. One humorous line would be enough but this label goes all out with its advice, including 'do not pass go' and 'do not wear alone'. We wonder how many people have been terrified enough to try and stay around other people at all times...

9. 100% Fake Elephant

At least this company is open to admitting when something is 100% fake - and with this humorous label (as though you need to be told) the elephant is referenced to most definitely not be real. Just in case you were worried you'd received a 100% real elephant with your latest clothing purchase.

10. Made On Earth

I mean, they're not technically wrong - but some specifics would be nice. At least you'd know that aliens hadn't recently taken out a new design hobby to supply clothes to the masses. And it makes a change from the usual 'made in China' labels - at least you know this one is from Mother Nature herself.

11. Not For Use As Pants

This one would be even funnier if it was actually a pair of pants that the label was for. No doubt that would cause confusion for many. But we're pretty sure it's a t-shirt! Nevertheless, how many people do you think took this as a challenge and tried to wear it as pants anyway?

12. Dishwasher Safe

Just in case you'd ever been tempted to put your clothes into the dishwasher instead of the washing machine - great news! You definitely can't! If this label is anything to go by, anyway. Not dishwasher safe, for external use only and contents may be hot... these are some fair warnings. The 'tag' joke makes it even better.

13. Always Wear Me On A First Date

How annoyed would you be if you had a failed date while wearing this? It's a bold promise to make on a label that you'll do awesome on your first date if you wear this. It would be interesting to see what the clothing item in question looks like... But maybe it's a placebo effect where you actually would feel more confident just on this basis.

14. Do Not Feed After Midnight

Gizmo would be proud of this one! Do not wash after midnight would have been disturbing enough, but now you're going to take extra care with those midnight snacks that you choose to drop on your shirt with all the crumbs... the instructions are very clear, so be careful where you eat.

15. Size: Fat

This one is either extremely insulting or brutally honest. We suppose the wearer would have to decide this for themselves. There's quite an abrupt difference from 'XXL' to just 'yeah you're fat' though. Or maybe it's just a bad translation gone very very wrong.

16. It's Pretty Impressive That You Have Found This Label

Apparently this company knows this trend of looking for interesting things written on clothing labels - and they didn't disappoint. Although saying 'it's pretty impressive that you have found this label' doesn't seem too impressive when it looks to be positioned in the usual label place...

17. You Can Dance If You Want To

They always say dance like no one's watching - and this label fully supports that. Just in case you needed reminding, you can dance if you want to - and especially when wearing this clothing item, it would seem. But remember - only if you want to. You don't have to dance if you don't want.

18. Go See A Doctor

It's kinda nice that this company cares enough to prompt you to make a doctor's appointment, just in case. 'If I don't put a smile on your face, there's gotta be something wrong with your face. Go see a doctor.' So how about it? Did reading this put a smile on your face or not?

19. Drag Thru Puddle

It's always nice to be given options when it comes to clothing care. With so many labels preaching best care instructions, this one is quite refreshing for those rebels out there. 'For worst results: drag thru puddle behind car. Blow dry on roof rack'. It's a bit of a shame if you don't have a roof rack, though - or a car.

20. 100% Christmas

This is actually great for the holiday season - and hopefully it comes inside one of those adorably ugly Christmas sweaters, otherwise it is a bit random (don't really want to find this inside your summer t-shirt). 100% Christmas all right - 'take it easy, relax, eat, drink and be merry. Do not diet. Smile'. Well we at least hope this clothing item is expandable or a baggy fit, then.

21. Size 'M' For Manly

This is a strange one - it's either a sly dig to people with toxic masculinity, or it's actually quite insulting to people worried about being a size 'm' instead of a buff large. Or, it'd be even stranger if it was in a woman's clothing line... either way size 'm' for manly is very tongue in cheek!

22. Come On, It'll Be Funny

Okay, it's clearly a joke, but this one is straight up savage. With the label being an 'xl', it's stating that the idea of someone trying on a small size would be hilarious... I mean, maybe it would, and maybe the reader has a great sense of humour - but not the best label to find if you're already self-conscious about needing a size xl in the first place (which you shouldn't be!).

23. Always Wash Your Butt

It's always good to be told (and reminded) of good hygiene practices, and where better to put them than inside the clean clothing you're going to wear every day? So just in case you'd forgotten during your morning shower, this label reminds you to 'always wash your butt'. This is either a pleasant reminder or maybe a shout out that this is a pair of trousers from which the dye could run... Just saying.

24. Kangaroo Poo

There's nothing like a self-aware brand drawing attention to how random and ridiculous their name is (in the best possible way). The best brand names are the most memorable, though, and you can't fault 'Kangaroo Poo' clothing for that. The label doesn't even try to explain: 'If I had to explain you wouldn't understand'. And maybe things are best just left a mystery.

25. 100% Cuddle

This is probably one of the best labels to find in a new clothing item, guaranteed to bring a smile to your face, surely. It's even better if this is the label for an oversized cuddly woolly sweaty you can snuggle down with in winter. '100% cuddle' is the only fabric content I would care about, anyway.

26. A Short Story

This label takes it to a whole new level. You feel like you should pay extra just for this inclusion. This cardigan label provides a whole short story for the journey of your new favourite clothing item - with you as the main character providing the wardrobe for a happy ever after. Kudos to Jane Davenport!

27. Don't Stress

'Don't stress' is definitely easier said than done, but for some reason, this label makes everything seem a little bit better. We all know that ironing is one of the most boring and monotonous chores we'll likely all avoid for as long as possible, and this label fully endorses that - 'iron once in a lifetime, or less'. Well, I'd take that advice, anyway.

28. #ShareTheLoad

Women rejoice because this label has fully got your back when it comes to men not pulling their weight in the home. 'Share the Load' is exactly right, and just in case the men of the house didn't know, laundry can in fact be done by any gender, you know! And this label proves that.

29. Printed By Happy People In Matching Socks

Redbubble always has some of the best labels (and best designs from independent artists) so it's no surprise to find such a happy message like this inside a new purchase. 'Carefully printed by happy people in matching socks' - are they happy because their socks match? Or are they happy anyway, and the matching socks are just a bonus?

30. Please Feed Pigeons

An important message to always care for the creatures around you - including the pigeons. This label not only advocates for pigeon food rights, but it also encourages you to 'save the snails' and 'be nice to hamsters and other gerbils'. This is an important reminder that I think everyone needs to hear.
