Celebs Who Decided To Get Married In Vegas

By Emily 1 year ago

1. Kourtney Kardashian and Travis Barker

Image source / Daily RecordIf you’ve watched the latest series of the Kardashians (or haven’t been living under a rock this past year), you’ll know about Kourt’s new man - Travis Barker. The pair spontaneously traveled to Vegas’ One Love Wedding Chapel after the Grammys where they exchanged vows. The wedding wasn’t official though - they actually got married in Italy back in May.

2. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

20 years after they first called off their engagement, Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck made it down the aisle at one of Vegas’ most famous venues - The Little White Wedding chapel. According to the JLo newsletter ‘OnTheJLo’  (I know, where do I sign up!?), the wedding was ‘exactly what we wanted’.

3. Angelina Jolie and Billy Bob Thornton

Back in the year 2000 anything seemed possible - it was a new millennium, an event experienced once in every thousand years and the world lapped it up. Angelina and Billy were no exception and chose the iconic date to tie the knot at Little Church of the West Wedding Chapel. Alas, just three years later, the pair separated due to ‘different lifestyles’.

4. Britney Spears and Jason Alexander

Britney has been on one heck of a romance journey throughout her life. She’s now with Sam Asghari but back in 2004, when things were less stable for the singer, she married childhood sweetheart Jason Alexander. In one of the most iconic celebrity Vegas weddings, the couple’s marriage lasted an impressive 55 hours before getting annulled!

5. Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner

Cast your mind back to May 2019 and you might remember an Instagram Live from Diplo that showed Jonas brother Joe saying ‘I do’ to GoT stunner Sophie Turner. They were inside A Little White Wedding Chapel in, you guessed it, Vegas. A ‘proper’ wedding followed in France a month later.

6. Nicolas Cage and Erika Koike

Image source / We Got This Covered
This one is pretty funny. In March 2019, actor Nicolas Cage married make up artist Erika Koike in a drunken Vegas wedding. Just four - yes four! - days later, he filed for an annulment, claiming they were too drunk and that he’d,
"reacted on impulse and without the ability to recognize or understand the full impact of his actions."

7. Frank Sinatra and Mia Farrow

You don’t have to have lived in the 1940s to know the name Frank Sinatra. His voice is iconic and made him one of the earliest American celebrities. When Sinatra was 48 he went to Vegas and married Mia Farrow who was, wait for it, 19 - not sure how I feel about that!

8. Arie Luyendyk and Lauren Burnham

This couple got together on Bachelor Nation but decided it was time for marriage number 2 in Vegas! Accompanied by their adorable daughter Alessi Ren, they got hitched at the Little White Wedding Chapel. Lauren posted that day was a ‘hilarious memory we will cherish forever’. Cute!

9. Lily Allen and David Harbour

The British singer and Stranger Things actor got hitched in Vegas in September 2020, as most of us were locked up indoors in the midst of the Covid ‘19 pandemic. It was the Graceland Wedding Chapel for these two so it goes without saying that ‘Elvis’ showed up to officiate the marriage. In-N-Out burgers followed the ceremony - nice!

10. Demi Moore and Bruce Willis

Demi and Bruce enjoyed a thirteen year marriage complete with three beautiful daughters. So where was the ceremony? Vegas baby! At ‘The Golden Nugget’ to be precise. The supposedly unplanned ceremony was way back in 1987. The vows stood the test of time until the millennium, when the pair split in 2000.

11. Shia LaBeouf and Mia Goth

In a very modern twist to the traditional Vegas wedding, these two actors live-streamed their 2016 nuptials. This is a slightly strange choice when you hear that the couple had planned to keep their ceremony private. Someone sent the video to TMZ and so, far from being private, the whole world got to watch!

12. Cindy Crawford and Richard Gere

Image source / CR Fashion Book
This glamorous pair had their Vegas wedding in 1991 but split four years later. Speaking to People, Crawford explained,
"We didn't spend enough time together. And we're equally responsible for that. We thought it would be okay if we just flew in from Paris to L.A. to get together for a night to see each other. It wasn't."

13. Bette Midler and Martin von Haselberg

Fortunately, this Vegas wedding has a happy ending as the couple remain together to this day. And, considering they married back in 1984, what a long marriage it has been! The couple chose the Starlight Chapel to tie the knot and, in true Vegas style, were wedded by an Elvis impersonator.

14. Carmen Electra and Dennis Rodman

Here’s another ‘we got so drunk in Vegas we got married’ story! After an all-night drinking session, Carmen Electra married former basketball player Dennis Rodman. Rodman claimed he was "of unsound mind when he recited his vows" - you don’t bet! They were divorced 6 months later.

15. Pamela Anderson and Rick Salomon

Baywatch star Pamela Anderson got hitched to Rick Salomon at the Mirage Hotel in 2007. The pair had been childhood friends and apparently decided this was enough grounds on which to get married in Vegas… They divorced 2 months later, remarried 7 years later and then divorced again a year after that, crazy!

16. Jodie Sweetin and Cody Herpin

It was back in 2007 when the Fuller House star married driver Cody Herpin in sin city. The pair had only been dating for two months but that didn’t stop them from wedding and going on to having a daughter the year after. Sadly, perhaps expectedly, the marriage ended quickly after due to ‘financial problems’.

17. Nicolas Cage and Riko Shibata

On February 16th of last year, the National Treasure actor married girlfriend Riko Shibata. Let’s hope it’s a long and love-filled marriage. Although given his track record (it’s his fifth marriage and second Vegas wedding) we’re not so sure how long it will last…!

18. Jon Bon Jovi and Dorothea Hurley

Depending on when you were born, the name Jon Bon Jovi may or may not mean a lot to you. He was the frontman of 80s band Bon Jovi and for many, a total heartthrob. So, when he went to marry his high school sweetheart in 1989 many fans were left devastated. Turns out he made the right choice though - the couple have now been married for over 20 years and they have four kids.

19. Nicky Hilton and Todd Andrew Meister

The lesser-known of the Hilton sisters married in Las Vegas back in August 2004. The bright lights of Vegas weren’t enough to lock in a lasting romance however and the couple were divorced just three months later! Hilton’s current husband is James Rothschild, child of the Rothschild family banking dynasty (a family often regarded as one the wealthiest in the world).

20. Kelly Ripa and Mark Consuelos

If ever there was a story to promote a Vegas wedding it’s this one. The American acting duo got married in 1996 and have been together ever since (they recently celebrated their 24th wedding anniversary). Apparently, their nuptials cost just $179 dollars - what a bargain!

21. Elvis and Priscilla Presley

It would be quite bizarre if the King of Pop himself didn’t get married in Vegas, so I’m pleased to say he did! The 'Viva Las Vegas' singer married Priscilla at the Aladdin Hotel and casino in 1967. They had a six year marriage but sadly divorced in 1973. I wonder how Elvis would feel today knowing how many marriages still happen in Sin City with people impersonating him.

22. Cher and Greg Allman

We all have a friend who can do a great Cher impression. If you don’t then maybe it’s you and you just don’t know it yet! Anyway, I digress. The iconic sounding singer married Greg Allman in a Vegas wedding in 1975 but divorced just 9 days later with the singer saying her husband had addiction issues. Did you not know that before you married him Cher!?

23. Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff

Tennis stars Andre Agassi and Steffi Graff married in Las Vegas in 2001. The event was tiny, with just their mothers present. Seems a bit odd if you ask me and not very Vegas! Oh well, they have two children and are still married so maybe low-key Vegas is the answer to a happy marriage!

24. The-Dream and Christina Milian

Here’s another case of a whirlwind romance, Vegas wedding and quick divorce… The music producer married Christina Milian back in 2009. The divorce was filed just five months later, despite Christina being pregnant with their child. Moral of the story? Don’t rush romance!

25. Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán

In a classier twist on a Vegas wedding, actors Leah Remini and Angelo Pagán married at the Four Seasons Hotel back in 2003. No expenses were spared on this lavish wedding and it was even filmed for a TV special for VH1. The best part? They’re still together!

26. Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson

Another couple, another Vegas wedding. Melanie Griffith and Don Johnson wedded in the famous city way back in 1976 only to (you guessed it) get divorced 6 months after - seriously, I’m starting to think Vegas is cursed! They did remarry but got divorced again after wedding number two.

30. 'Saved by the Bell' stars Zack Morris and Kelly Kapowski

We’ll end on one for all the 'Saved by the Bell' fans out there. Who remembers when the shows leading couple traveled to Las Vegas to say "I do"?  The special episode saw the couple, along with their friends and families, travel to Sin City to pull off an elaborate wedding on a shoe string budget. 90s throwbacks don’t get much better than that!
