Let's take a look at the 30 most attractive states in America. Starting off strong with New Jersey the state with THE most attractive people in the country. This may be surprising to some, but the residents of this state are really focused on health and fitness. They also see a high education level and strong employment rate.

29. Hawaii is continuously beach ready

We should mention that criteria for this top 10 based on health and fitness, employment, education, and even the STDs rate. It's probably no surprise to see Hawaii high on this list. The state boasts warm weather and beaches which overall contributes to the state's attractiveness. People here see motivated to be active and take up activities like surfing... hot.

28. California girls are undeniable

Katy Perry obviously knows what's up! California is not a surprising addition to this list. As a state with a focus on health and wellness as well as the glamor of Hollywood, it makes sense that people here keep their bodies in shape and for the dense population, there's a surprisingly low STD rate! Safety first, kids.

The people of Massachusetts seem to value education and stability, which we love to see. On top of this, they are all seem to be gym rats as the second most active state in the country! We love fit kings. If these celebs from Massachusetts are any indication, we're here for it. So if you're looking for a partner, head to this state!

Walking is the main mode of transportation in New York City, which probably contributes to the attractive and fit lifestyle of so many New Yorkers. Even more interesting is that New York ranks number one in the country for the amount of time its residents spend on personal grooming!

Colorado is another state that makes sense that its population is active. With the accessibility to skiing and snowboarding in the winter and hiking during the summer, these residents like to keep it moving. The employment rate in Colorado overall is strong, which makes this an attractive state!

Okay, so Connecticut is high on this list, buuuut, their personal grooming score is pretty low, which we don't love. But overall, it seems to be a lack of caring about the latest makeup trends or cool new hairdos, so that makes it a little better. It's in the top six for high average salaries, which is VERY important!

23. Rhode Island is a good place to settle down

Despite being small in size, Rhode Island is one of the most attractive states in the country. You might be surprised to see it here on the top ten list, but the state itself is beautiful, and its residents are no different. Employment rates are high, with a lot of the population being well-educated, making it a great place to settle down!

The obesity rate is a little higher in Alaska, but honestly, it's probably just to keep warm! Because the state cares a lot about personal grooming and wanting to look good, this state ranks higher on the list. The state itself has beautiful landscapes you won't find basically anywhere else, so if you're down for an adventure, check out Alaska!

Did you know that Arizona ranks fifth in the entire country for highest average salaries?! That's pretty impressive. Combined with the warm weather and lots of fun outdoor activities, Arizona is a pretty rad place. And it doesn't hurt that the residents tend to be pretty attractive!

Okay, now that we've figured out which states have the most attractive PEOPLE, let's talk about which states themselves are the most attractive. We gotta kick it off with California. Whether you want beaches or mountains or desert, California has it all! Add on an amazing wine country and thriving city life, what more could you want?

19. Hawaii, again. We're noticing some crossover here

Does beautiful landscape equal beautiful people? Perhaps! The seven Hawaiian islands have a vast array of landscape from breathtaking beaches to volcanic lands and dense jungles. You'd be hard pressed to find a state with bluer oceans and more vibrant sunsets. The food is incredible, from seafood to papaya... it can't be beat!

Alaska will leave you with a deep respect and awe for nature. With the incredible glaciers and tundra, paired alongside wilderness unlike anywhere else, the national parks will absolutely blow your mind. You can see the sights by boat or by helicopter, and don't forget to take a train to the Northern Lights. Also! Polar bears, whales, and sea lions are super common to see out in the wild.

I would not expect Utah to rank so high on this list, but its landscape is pretty spectacular. There are incredible sandstone arches and canyons all throughout the state. Also, people come from all over the country to see the Bonneville Salt Flats. If you're an outdoorsy person, you will love it here!

We already talked about all the incredible activities Colorado has to offer. But the hiking here is NO JOKE. You truly need to prepare if you're trying to summit a mountain here. Beyond that, there are some beautiful lakes that have gorgeous beachfronts. Everyone says you need to try the drive from Denver to Telluride to take in the state's beauty.

Most people equate Washington with Seattle, which in and of itself is a pretty cool spot. Add onto that the view of Mt. Rainier and Puget Sound, and it's easy to understand why Washington is one of the country's most attractive states! There are beautiful mountain ranges and rivers, and you can even see some desert scenery if you head up north!

They say that Oregon is like if California and Nevada had a baby. I'm not sure who "they" are, but I get it. Oregon has a beautiful coastline and desert views, but there's also an incredible mountain range and wilderness. People say the beaches in Oregon are incredible, along with a pretty extensive wine country. We're willing to try it out!

13. The lakes are some of the best in the country

This Midwestern state sets the bar pretty high. The forests on the Upper Peninsula are absolutely lovely. Pair that with sandy beaches on Lake Michigan and a cool, rocky coast on Lake Huron, there are over 11,000 lakes in the state! You could spend a lot of time exploring here and never get bored.

We already know that the people of Arizona make good money! The state of Arizona also offers one of the United States' most memorable landmarks - The Grand Canyon. If you've ever road tripped across America, this was probably on your list of places to stop. It truly feels like the wild west out here and many a cowboy has made his way across this terrain.

11. Go check out the Milky Way

Wyoming offers what is considered one of the most stunning vistas in the country, that of the Grand Tetons. And then, Yellowstone National Park is right there too. The mountains here are bursting with wildlife such as elk, bison, and moose. They say you won't get a better view of the Milky Way anywhere else in the lower 48 states, so that alone is reason to go!

I have many a friend in California who has Montana at the top of their list as a place to get away from the busy-ness of Los Angeles. The state has a sprawling landscape of mountains, lakes and national parks. Montana is known for its BIG sky and wide-open spaces, which is probably what The Chicks were singing about.

Let's give the East Coast some love with North Carolina. Here you'll find beaches and mountains, and if you've watched Outer Banks on Netflix, you know that you'll find some of the best coastal spots in the country. The state is also home to the Great Smoky Mountains National Park.

Perhaps because it's so sparse in population, Vermont remains one of the country's most scenic. With rolling hills, streams, and lakes, it feels quite idyllic. There are cute little villages that are just dying for you to visit them, particularly in fall when the leaves are turning red and gold. It's also the home to Ben and Jerry's ice cream, so it can't be all bad!

If you've watched Breaking Bad, then you've definitely seen a lot of what New Mexico has to offer. There are massive rock cliffs and mesas throughout the state. It's known for the desert scenery and mountains, so if you've ever taken a road trip across the country, you know what this state has to offer!

It's my dad's dream to drive to Maine and eat a fresh lobster. It truly looks like the entire L.L. Bean catalogue was created here. There are incredible coastlines and national parks to check out, and at the end of the day, you can cap it off with a hot bowl of clam chowder.

Idaho also has a small stake in the Yellowstone National Park. A lot of people forget that. The state is home to some of the best mountain biking trails in the entire country, as well as being a top skiing spot. You can take a trip down the river that winds through the mountains and meadows. Sounds pretty!

New York is so much more than just NYC. The landscape here is absolutely incredible. There are mountain ranges and coastlines that often go overlooked, and don't forget about the US side of Niagara Falls! Did you know that New York has more publicly owned land than any other state in the east? It's also home to many beautiful lakes.

3. Florida Man did not make the list

While Florida didn't make the list for most attractive people, there is a lot to see here! There are some incredible beaches, even though they're artificial. But Biscayne National park is not to be missed, and do check out the white sand beaches of the Keys. Just watch out for Florida Man!

2. West Virginia, mountain mamma

West Virginia is actually a hot spot for base jumpers. There are some really cool gorges here, alongside rivers and rolling hills. The state also has a beautiful national forest. So while it's often overlooked, if you've ever accidentally driven through this state, you probably won't forget it any time soon!

This state offers so much outside the very, very cool city of Nashville. You can find everything from hills and pastures to the Smoky Mountains. If you want to be within driving distance of incredible scenery and also be able to enjoy city living, then check out Tennessee ASAP!
