41. Top tips for ordering at Dairy Queen: decide what you want before you reach the register

So as well as knowing what you want from the secret menu, there are some great hacks for making the most out of any visit to Dairy Queen! So a great hack for a smoother experience - for yourself and for the other people waiting - is to know exactly what you want
before
you get to the register.

42. Check their blizzard of the month!

Dairy Queen will always have a 'blizzard of the month', which will be a flavor unavailable for the rest of the year - so if it's something that's going to have your favorite flavors, you definitely don't want to miss out that month! Always check what their blizzard of the month is before you go.

43. Don't go to the drive through if you don't know what you want

We know that sometimes you do roll up to a fast food drive thru and take a minute just to quickly look at the menu or ask about something - usually it's fine, but because the Dairy Queen menu is so extensive, you're risking lines of cars behind you if you take too long!

44. Double check their food menu before you go

If you're traveling to a new Dairy Queen in an area you've never been before, it's important to remember that not all Dairy Queens are built equal! Some don't serve fried food at all, so if you're used to that at your local place, check before you go to a new one expecting the same - because they might not do it, and you don't want to be disappointed!

45. The menu isn't gospel

Now we've let you know about all the amazing secret menu items, you're probably realizing this on your own, but if you're looking to order something off the menu, you also don't need to be shy about asking for one or two things to be changed. Workers there will happily substitute an ingredient for another off the menu!

46. Don't order an entire cake through the drive through

Sure, Dairy Queen do sell cakes and you might not think anything of ordering it through the drive through instead of going instead. But while a slice of cake is no issue, if you're ordering a whole cake to pick up (which Dairy Queen do offer) it's a bit tricky to fit the whole thing through the window (and the window of your car) without a messy accident!

47. You can get a free ice cream if workers don't flip your blizzard!

This entirely depends on whether you want to bring up a mistake that a worker has made - when, granted, you're still getting your blizzard and all its ingredients. But blizzards are supposed to be flipped upside down as the final step, so if you notice your server doesn't do this, you can actually get your next one for free if you say something!

48. Respect the workers!

This might seem like an obvious one, but if you're a first-timer to Dairy Queen you might think workers are responsible for things they actually aren't. Sometimes things get taken off the menu which some customers might complain at the workers about, but it's not their fault - and not their decision!

49. Mute your phone during the drive through!

This one isn't too hard if you only have your physical phone, but a lot of cars are hooked up to Bluetooth these days for you to be able to answer calls while you're driving handsfree. So if you take a call going through the drive through, it can cause confusion when the workers are trying to talk to you through the speaker - and they can hear you even before you reach it!

50. Help out the cashier with your money

Dairy Queen is a very fast-paced ordering system, so to avoid any hold ups and to really help your cashier out, give your money over by handing the change over first and then your bills. Some people give them a screwed up bunch of bills with the change instead which can make everything take longer!
