Alabama: All Profits Gang

Alabama is home to more than one dangerous gang - most notably, the All Profits Gang (or APG), while it also has a presence of street gangs including The Bloods and The Crips. It is rumoured that they have a gang initiation which consists of targeting people in small parking lots, and stealing their vehicles along with all of their personal belongings.

Alaska: The Crips

The state of Alaska was actually the focus for a documentary named "Gangland: Ice Cold Killers" - because there are enough dangerous gangs in this state to make a whole documentary out of! There are actually over 115 gangs in Anchorage, Alaska, alone, and the most notable (and dangerous) is the Crips.

Arizona: Bloods And Crips

The most notable place in Arizona for dangerous gangs is the city of Arizona, with over 1.5 million people and a high gang population dating back to early 1900s. The state has a mix of black and Hispanic hoods, and Bloods and Crips are among the most dangerous gang presence after migrating from California in the 80s/90s.

Arkansas: Hoover's Folk Nation

In the state of Arkansas, the city of Little Rock sees a lot of street gangs - so much so that there was a documentary made called "Gang Bangin' in Little Rock" as part of America Undercover. Little Rock has been known to be one of the dangerous cities in this state, and in particular for drug trafficking. Gang presences here include the notorious Bloods, Crips and Hoover's Folk Nation.

California: The 38th Street Gang

The 38th Street gang is one of the oldest and most dangerous of Los Angeles, California, an Hispanic-American street gang that has been committing its crimes since the 1920s. The 38th Street gang is controlled by the Mexican Mafia, and members of the gang are usually called upon to do what the mafia tells them to do.

Colorado: The Crips

The Crips have a presence in many, many states across the US, and Colorado is one of the most notable. The Crips covers a huge alliance of many different street gangs operating in different states, but was founded in LA. It's one of the most violent gangs in America, and they're also known for their rivalry with the Bloods.

The Almighty Latin Kings and Queen Nation - also known as the Latin Kings, or the LKN - is one of the biggest street gangs and prison gangs not only in America, but in the world. Made up of Hispanic and Latino gang members, it was founded in Chicago and spread its dangerous influence in different states, including Connecticut.

Delaware: MGS Gang

The MGS gang is a well known, and violent, gang that operates in Delaware, and specifically is known in the area of Wilmington. The gang and its members have over 200 criminal charges known to its name - and that's only the ones that are known. Most recent have been gun violence, murder and feuds with rival gangs.

Florida: Zoe Pound

While the Latin Kings have a huge presence in Florida, one dangerous gang in this state worth a mention is Zoe Pound - the name 'Zoe' comes from the Haitian Creole word for bone, with gang members described as 'hard to the bone'. Most well known for coming from Miami, they specialise in drug trafficking, robbery and violent crime.

Georgia: The Bloods

The Bloods are one of the most violent gangs across many states, and in the world. They originally come from Los Angeles, but are the most well known presence in regard to street crime in the state of Georgia. They are known for being particular rivals of the Crips and Gangster Disciples gangs. They're also known to have members in prisons.

When you think of violent street gangs, you might not think of Hawaii! This state is known for smaller groups of street gangs, and usually involved with drugs, gambling and prostitution. One of the bigger known crime organizations in this state is The Company, which began in the 70s, but reduced in activity once its leaders were arrested.

Idaho: S.V.C. (Severely Violent Criminal)

The name says it all for this gang. The Severely Violent Criminal gang is one of two main gangs operating in Idaho - and the city of Boise specifically - and the S.V.C. comes from Idaho state prison. Because of their presence in the prison, they mainly operate within its walls, as well as within the drug trade, rather than impacting the streets of the city.

Illinois: The Gangster Disciples

The Gangster Disciples are a dangerous street and prison gang, made up of African Americans and formed around the later 1960s by Larry Hoover, a well-known (and convicted) gang leader. They then went on to become the Black Gangster Disciple Nation after two rival gangs joined up. Its since split off into the Gangster Disciples and the Black Disciples.

Indiana: Sons Of Silence

The Sons of Silence Motorcycle Club isn't your regular street or prison gang, but they're a club holding an intimidating presence in Indiana, as well as many other states in the US. There aren't many dangerous gangs operating in this state, and this motorcycle club actually took steps to avoid conflict rather than make it.

Iowa: C Block

C Block is a street gang operating mainly in the city of Des Moines in Iowa, well-known for its long history of drug dealing and violent crimes. C Block have been so dangerous that the FBI spent months investigated them before recent convictions, particularly of cocaine dealing. C Block is also known to be connected to another dangerous gang, the Crips.

Kansas: The 51st Street Crips

This street gang has holds in many different states, mainly California, but it's known for having a presence in Kansas, too. Most members are African-Americans who make up one of the oldest street gangs, and they also have huge conflict with the gangs Rollin 50s and the Neighborhoods, which can turn violent and deadly.

The most dangerous gangs known in Kentucky are actually neighborhood gangs, and most particularly in Louisville, Kentucky. These urban gangs are known for violent crimes, making residents afraid to leave their homes and actually being affiliated with each other.

Louisiana: The 3-N-G Gang

Also known as the 3rd and Galvez, this street gang mainly operates in the Central City of New Orleans. Their crimes include murder and violence against other street gangs, in particular a rival Young Melph Mafia. Originally, they controlled the drug trade in the city before teaming up with G-Strip gang.

The NETA (mostly known as the NETA Association) is a dangerous gang that originally began in the prisons of Puerto Rico before spreading its influence across the US. Puerto Rico originally had a lot of small neighborhood gangs, but NETA is the biggest to come out of the island and control the drug trade.

Maryland: MS-13

The MS-13 gang known to be active in Maryland is known for its violence and brutal methods, including using weapons like machetes to behead people - even young people. Their influence is spreading across Baltimore in particular, and some of their known crimes include strangling a woman and dismembering her body.

Massachusetts: Lenox Street Boys

The Lenox Street Boys, also known as the Lenox Street Cardinals, are not only one of the most dangerous gangs in Massachusetts, but one of the oldest. Mainly operating in Boston, the gang has gained the attention of the police since the 80s due to their public crimes affecting innocent civilians.

Michigan: Seven Mile Bloods

In Detroit, Michigan, there's a particular area called Seven Mile Road, which is known as a 'no-go area' due to the dangerous gang operating on it. This territory is controlled by gang Seven Mile Bloods, which includes murderers, thieves and drug dealers. Gang members are even hunted by bounty hunters.

Minnesota: The Native Mob

The Native Mob is a Native American street gang operating across the US as one of the most well-known (and dangerous) Native American gangs. Known in particular to commit crime in Minnesota, this gang controls drug trade and has established itself in a variety of prisons with an estimated 1,500 members.

The gang's original purpose was to protect immigrants from other gangs, but soon grew to be a huge criminal organization known for brutal methods and rivalry with other gangs.

Missouri: Kansas City Crime Family

The Kansas City crime family (also known as the Kansas City Mafia or the Civella crime family) is based in Kansas City, Missouri made up of Italian-American mafia members. As you can imagine, this organized crime family holds a lot of power and takes part in many criminal operations to make money.

Montana: The Nortenos

The Norteños (Northerners) gangs are many groups that work in honor of the Nuestra Family whilst in correctional facilities and are known to have a presence in Montana. This gang is known to have a particular rival: the Sureños, in Southern California. This gang is known to be made up of mostly Mexican Americans.

Official crime gangs in Nebraska aren't well known, but there are a few organizations known in this state as well as across the US. This includes the Kansas City crime family, and also the Hells Angels Motorcycle Club. This outlaw motorbike gang has around 92 groups across the USA, known for various crimes like drug trafficking and arson.

A well-known gang from Nevada - Las Vegas specifically - is a teen gang called the 311 Boyz, which had around 140 members and committed a series of violent crimes. The gang made up of primarily men, who were young enough to still be attending high school. It was debated whether the group of teenagers actually fit the legal definition of 'gang'.

New Hampshire: Nine Trey Bloods

The Nine Trey Bloods, also known as the Nine Trey Gangster Bloods (NTG), is a violent street gang known to be a part of the United Blood Nation gang. They're known to operate in different areas of the US, but have a dangerous presence in New Hampshire. The gang started with selling drugs before their criminal reach grew.

New Jersey: Brick Squad

The Brick Squad Gang is actually a sub group of the hugely infamous Bloods gang, with the Brick Squad getting involved with drug trade - particularly cocaine and heroin - and went on to commit murder. They were known for orchestrating murders from inside prison and even bragging about the money made on drugs.

The crime organization is an international organized group operating in New Mexico and beyond, known for illegal drug trafficking as well as money laundering. It was first set up in Mexico in the 1980s.

The Hidden Valley Kings are well-known in the area of Charlotte, North Carolina, as a neighborhood gang, and a branch of the bigger group Queen City Kings. They were formed after moving to North Carolina from Chicago in the 1990s. There are small groups of members who live in various areas of Charlotte.

North Dakota: Native Mob

Known for its prison-related crime and drug trafficking, it's a gang present in a lot of tribal communities, and is also known for serious crime like murder, robbery and assault alongside its drug trade.

Ohio: The Executioners

In the city of Cleveland in Ohio is this area's particular branch of the dangerous criminal gang known as The Executioners. To be a member of this gang in the first place, you need to have already committed murder. Members are also known to settle disputes over territories - violently.

Oklahoma: Hoover Crips

The Hoover Crips, also known as the 51 Trouble gang, are active in Oklahoma as well as plenty of other states across the US. They're known for violently protecting their communities, particularly from racism against African Americans, and they also spend time retaliating to problems with rival gangs.

Oregon: European Kindred

The European Kindred gang operating out of Oregon is a gang that has around 500 members within this state's prison system. The numbers have been reported by parole or probation officers working in the prisons. They're known for their violence and being one of the most powerful gangs in the Oregon Department of Corrections.

Pennsylvania: Latin Kings

The Latin Kings, with its influence in many states, is also the most dangerous gang in Pennsylvania - and one of the most dangerous street and prison gangs in the world. Known for its Hispanic and Latino members, this gang has chapters in 31 states out of 50, with an estimated 35,000 members.

The Trinitarios are a criminal gang known for its Dominican American members, originally founded in New York City but holding a dangerous presence in Rhode Island, amongst other places with allegiances to other known gangs. This gang originally started in prison to protect certain nationalities from other gangs.

The G-Shine gang is a group of the Bloods gang that operates in this state, and this street gang has developed to have groups in multiple states across the US. It's also known as G-Shyne, but was originally called the Gangster Killer Bloods, and known for their high levels of crime and violence.

The Native Mob is also active in the state of South Dakota, with this state being one of the main three they operate in: Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota. The Native Mob is one of the biggest - and most brutal - of Native American gangs, in particular drug-related crime and control of drug turfs.

The Mara Salvatrucha international criminal gang is known to have influence in Tennessee, and it's most well-known for its particular brand of brutality and cruelty, as well as its particular rivalry with the 18th Street gang. A lot of members of the gang were deported to El Salvador in the past years, but still very active in states of the US.

The Barrio Azteca gang is the number one gang in Texas, particularly dangerous to the state because of their connections with the Mexican cartels and their national activity. They also have a high number of members and are known for their high levels of criminal acts and violent crime by its members.

They formed in Utah but have since spread across many states, and are well known as a violent gang within the federal prison system.

With mostly white members, this gang was founded in the late 1990s in Maryland department of corrections, originally because it wanted to bring together white inmates that were in the system.

Washington: Bandidos Motorcycle Club

The Bandidos Motorcycle Club is an outlaw gang that has a chapter in Washington state. They're known for taking part in violent and criminal behavior, including robbery, insurance fraud, drug trafficking, bombings, murder and assault. There are an estimated 93 chapters of the club across the US.

West Virginia: Bloods

The Bloods has yet another dangerous and violent presence in yet another state of the US: West Virginia. One of the largest street gangs in the whole of the US, it's known to distribute drugs in this state, as well as many others. Drugs is predominantly one of the main crimes the Bloods deals in throughout the states.

Wisconsin: Spanish Cobras

The Spanish Cobras began as a gang of Puerto Rican teenagers in the 1950s, but has grown to be a dangerous gang made up of primarily Latino members. Also known as the Insane Spanish Cobra Nation, they're known to be the second-largest Latino Folk gang in this area, and they first became known after stabbing a member of the Latin King gang.

Wyoming: Various Street Gangs

While there is no known 'big player' gang in this state, Wyoming does have various street gangs in operation that make some neighborhoods hard to feel safe in. With these gangs you can expect they to be carrying a dangerous weapon, like a pocket knife or gun, which aren't usually used unless the gang members are provoked.
