1. Sensitivity to allergies may increase!

You probably never correlated the two together; PMS and allergies. But now you know that if you seem to get flare-ups and extra sensitivity to your allergies it could be because it's that time of the month! For some people, it aggravated them or makes them feel more heightened than usual.

2. Dry eyes

Dry eyes can leave your eyes feeling irritated or sore because there's not enough moisture. This can be caused by a lot of things but who'd have thought it...it can also be caused by PMS. It's a rare symptom that some people experience when this time in hir cycle comes around.

3. Hair loss

This is by no means common, but it is a possible side effect of PMS! If you notice your hair thinning or you've even noticed some hair loss at these times of the month it could be as a result of PMS. It's good to get checked out, however, as it could be a sign of a hormone imbalance.

4. A metallic taste in your mouth

You may have heard this phenomenon before in relation to women who are pregnant, in this case, it can be fairly common. Yet some (albeit few and far between) women actually experience a metallic taste in their mouth during their PMS, which is much less common.

During PMS, another very uncommon symptom, but a symptom nonetheless, is ringing ears! Some people experience a ringing sensation where they feel as though they can hear a constant or intermittent sound which has been found to be caused not by ear issues, but by PMS.

Has anybody else experienced really vivid or frightening dreams during their PMS stage? This is more common, yet it is still considered a rare side effect. Some women have the most wild and whacky dreams on the run-up to their period which can really disturb their sleep.

Okay, this one sounds far-fetched. I bet nobody guessed that PMS had such an effect that it can even change things like handwriting. But some women during PMS find it very difficult to write properly or to write as usual, resulting in a change in the appearance of their writing!

Sensitive skin during PMS can mean that certain patches of skin feel sore on the surface or it feels super sensitive to the touch. It can also mean that your skin reacts to things more, and that it breaks out easier. And we all know that we can get breakouts around this time too!

If you've ever had restless legs, or suffer from restless legs syndrome you'll know just how tough this feeling can be. Restless legs have been reported by some women as something that they suffer with during PMS as a very uncommon, but real, side effect!

Joints are affected by things such as hormones as well as many other things. So during PMS, it's a time of hormone change and for some women, this can result in very sore joints. They feel stiff and sore during this time and when PMS is over their symptoms are alleviated.

Bleeding gums often point to things such as gum disease. But...perhaps your bleeding gums reoccur monthly, and only at certain times. Because for some women, their gums bleed during PMS. This is very uncommon and it should be checked out to be sure that it is PMS related.

Some women during PMS smell a little bit more funky than usual. They sweat more, and the high levels of hormones can result in the sweat smelling different from usual. So some women find it a little bit more difficult to stay fresh during this time of the month.

Heart palpitations are always something to be checked out as it could be something more serious. But there are some women who find that they get heart palpitations that are caused by PMS and not a heart-related issues. It can happen because of the changes in hormones!

During PMS hormones are heightened and so blood flow to the organs in the reproductive system and down there can feel quite sensitive and bloated. It can also make you feel like you need to pee way more than usual, it's something that certain women experience monthly.

For some women, PMS can increase their sensitivity to sound, which is another uncommon symptom. Everything may sound louder to a woman during PMS and due to the increased sensitivity it can mean that certain sounds (which are usually fine) are irritating or overwhelming.

When hormones change it can result (not usually, but for some women) in a dizzy spell or feeling more lightheaded than usual. So, during PMS there are women who experience dizziness or even feelings of faintness as a result of the changes to the hormone levels.

Having a fluctuating libido is completely normal. For a woman, it can be very up and down due to the fluctuations of her hormones. And so at some points of the month, you might be feeling a little bit frisky and at other times you feel pretty disinterested...and PMS can be one of these times.

Another very rare symptom of PMS is toothache! This again is probably something you would never associate with PMS. But it really is a thing for some people during this time, their teeth start to ache and it's not due to any other tooth-related problem...it's PMS!

Hot flushes are often associated with menopause, but they can also happen during PMS. It can result in hot flushes because of our hormones during the luteal phase of our cycle. You may suddenly find yourself heating up and sweating and you may even feel your face burning or going red.

But because the skin is more sensitive there have been reports of some women finding that they have very itchy skin which has been connected to premenstrual syndrome. It could also be linked to the fact that allergies may be heightened.

During this time many women find it really difficult to get a good night's sleep. So, not only do they have vivid dreams but for a lot of women it's also really hard to fall asleep in the first place. And then, when they finally do they wake up throughout the night for no apparent reason.

Women have to put up with a lot of things and PMS comes around monthly which for many women can be a difficult time! Some women even experience the uncommon symptom of feeling nauseous! This can occur for around a week until the nausea subsides!

For some people it's not just the bloating, the cramps, and the mood swings...they also find it really difficult to remember things! It's the feeling of walking into a room and forgetting why you are there or running up the stairs to get something you forgot and coming down without it.

Discharge is natural and happens as a way of your body cleaning itself. It's good to watch out for the consistency and color to notice whether everything is okay. The discharge also changed throughout the monthly cycle and so during PMS you may start to notice a difference in your discharge.

Some people find that during pre-menstrual syndrome they have a lot of anxiety. For people who already have anxiety, PMS can make it worse. And, even for people who do not have anxiety, they may experience feelings of anxiety as a result of this time of the month.
