Throughout the laborious nine-day trial (where Vardy sued Rooney for defamation after Vardy accused her of leaking stories to the press), it was revealed that lawyers sieved through more than ONE THOUSAND messages that were previously exchanged between Vardy and her agent. In this one, Rebekah and her agent are gossiping and speculating about the stories Colleen posted on Instagram.Advertisement

So, it's clear that Vardy doesn't actually like Coleen Rooney... in fact, she goes to the extent of calling her an attention seeker! Vardy's barrister argued that these messages were just gossip between Vardy and her agent. These WhatsApp messages were retrieved from back in January 2019, after Coleen posted an image on her private 'gram of her silver Honda with a huge dent in it. Here, Vardy literally says in her message to agent Miss Watt, that she "would love to leak those stories". But whether she wanted to... or ACTUALLY did is a different story right?Advertisement

Just two days after Coleen posted the image on her private social media, the Sun published a dramatic article about how Rooney 'narrowly avoids injury in car crash'...which we later find out - via her Twitter account - is all fake news! Just days before, Miss Watt can be seen telling Vardy the excuse she'll use if Coleen suspects them of selling the news...personally we think she could have thought of something a little more creative?!Advertisement
5. Rebekah's agent basically ADMITTING they had private conversations with 'The Sun' journalists...

The Sun journalist, Andy Halls, was one of the unlucky writers who fell victim to Coleen's fake news, publishing the article on her non-existent car crash. Come on Andy...maybe some fact checking next time?! In these messages, Vardy's agent tells Rebekah about her conversation with the journalist, stating she told Halls she was '100% confident that it [the car crash] happened'.Advertisement

So that was it...the greatest WAG 'whodunnit' trial came to an end on 29th July. After a nine-day-trial, the court ruled that Vardy lost her libel case against Coleen Rooney and that 'the Defendant [Coleen Rooney] succeeded in proving that the single meaning [of her Instagram post 'outing' Rebekah Vardy] was true'. It's reported that Vardy will have to pay £3m in damages to Coleen, as well as court bills of £1m...better get yourself down to Aldi Rebekah!Advertisement

It all got a little bit heated in Court - to say the least- especially after Coleen Rooney's lawyer opened his closing argument basically calling Vardy a liar AND accusing her of destroying evidence! Unsurprisingly, Vardy didn't take this too well...and just half an hour into the final day of Court she STORMED out of the courtroom. 9. Vardy outright messaged her agent claiming she 'never took any stories to the press'... but was she just covering her tracks?

As part of Coleen's sting operation to catch the fake friend leaking stories to the press, she shared several 'fake news' stories on Instagram, secretly blocking people from viewing her story, allowing just one friend to see the stories at a time. The idea was, that only one friend would see the fake news, so if that news got sold the press, Coleen would know who leaked it. Not going to lie...that's a pretty impressive tactic... think she might be in the wrong job! Anyway...in these messages between Vardy and her agent, the pair were trying to think of ways Vardy may have accidentally viewed the social media posts. When Rooney confronted Vardy after viewing her Instagram story - and when I say confronted, I mean she called her out on social media in front of thousands of people - subtle- it must have been pretty difficult for Rebekah to deny the allegations. It was there in black & white...'one person viewed this story'. At this point Vardy opted for the excuse that her socials had been hacked and that someone else had viewed the Instagram story! In other messages from 2020 Vardy seems suspicious about handing out her Instagram password exclaiming 'I'm not ever want to be in the situation I'm in now!' referring to Coleen's accusations.Advertisement

It's not illegal to gossip about other people... I mean if it was, my nosy neighbour June from across the road would most certainly be behind bars (but that's a different story). However, the endless Whatsapp messages between Vardy and her agent, gossiping about other footballers and their families, doesn't portray her in the best light. Back in 2019, Chelsea midfielder Danny Drinkwater spectacularly crashed his Range Rover into a wall after being more than TWICE over the legal alcohol limit to drive. 11. Vardy BREAKS DOWN in Court after it all get's too much

Jokes aside, I can't really imagine how difficult it must have been for both Rooney & Vardy during the 9-day trial at the High Court. Despite Vardy looking cool as a cucumber as she walked into the courtroom, complete with a belted royal blue dress and a Gigi Hadid-esque slicked back bun, there were moments during the trial when the facade melted away and Vardy was left in tears.Advertisement

As the trial was coming to an end, it wasn't looking great for Vardy. In one last ditch attempt to prove her innocence Vardy told the court that over the years many people had, had access to her social media accounts and that someone must have hacked into her Instagram, viewed Coleen's stories, then sold the detail the press. As you can imagine this wasn't too well received, particularly after there had been messages presented as evidence between Rebekah and her agent discussing the stories. It's no surprise that celebrities leak information about other celebrities to the press, it's probably one of the best parts about being an actual celebrity - getting to know all the gossip! News sites rely on these WAGs to spill the beans about each other. After all they have to stay relevant somehow... and there's only so many 'Big Brother 2002 : Where Are They Now' stories they can run. In these messages Rooney's understanding was that the references to 'Jane' and 'Victoria', were about Jane Atkinson and Victoria Newton, both of whom are journalists at The Sun... and both of whom were apparently responsible for the production of the Secret Wag column. Reading though all these Whatsapp messages, there's more talk about leaks than on a Cowboy Plumbers Trustpilot page! When asked about this dodgy exchange, Vardy argued that the conversation was taken completely out of context and when she told Caroline to 'leak a story', she was talking about a report on 'body positivity'. The main image the messages were referring to, was not available to be shown to the court as a technical difficulty meant that all images over Whatsapp were lost when uploading the data...BIG COINCIDENCE!Advertisement

Whilst both Coleen and Wayne attended the first six days of the trial, they were actually nowhere to be seen for the final few days. It turns out they made the decision they didn't need to be present to hear their lawyers’ deliver closing arguments to the High Court. Instead they departed the courtroom to head on their summer holidays, jetting off with their four young boys, Kai, Cass, Klay and Kit, on the date the case was originally scheduled to conclude. Remember we mentioned earlier that there were some Whatsapp images which went "missing" when the evidence was submitted in court? Vardy's team claimed the files were accidentally corrupted when she tried to export them, but obviously Rooney's barrister suspected otherwise, stating Vardy purposely deleted the evidence and then 'lied under oath' about it. Well, either these messages to her agent are Rebekah actually annoyed at the fact she lost the files...or she's double crossing us all!Advertisement

Over the course of the trial, it was revealed that it wasn't just Coleen who had fallen victim to private stories being leaked to the press. In February, 2018 the Sun published an article with the scathing headline:ON STRIKE : Riyad Mahrez fails to turn up to Leicester training for the second consecutive day as team-mates turn on Algerian aceThis was referring to Jamie Vardy's former Leicester City team mate, Riyad Mahrez, who apparently had been a little lax when it came to showing up to practice. Rebekah Vardy can be seen relaying this information in her messages to her agent commenting that 'the lads are fuming' with Mahrez's absence before then deciding which one of them would leak it to the press. In court, Vardy said the article was nothing to do with her and the story was based on information already in the public domain!

18. 'I'm actually disgusted with her x'...don't hold back hun!

A mainly censored version of an exchange between Vardy & Miss Watt was shown to the court, which again looked very much like the pair plotting to leak a story about a certain 'F', commenting 'Omg have you seen how badly F is behaving x'. Apparently they were referring to to a certain celeb who had cheated on her husband with a footballer. Vardy talks about leaking the story behind an unknown persons back, however Miss Watt argues that there's no point, as The Sun already have the story, but no evidence.Advertisement

Before we go into this, can we just appreciate the name of Wayne Rooney's private Instagram account...Wazzaroon...sounds like a 13-year-old boy making his first email address! Anyway...this photo Coleen posted on her private 'Gram was just one instance of her putting out some bait to see which 'snake' would bite. On her public account she posted a photo of herself and the three boys all in matching PJ's, then on her private account she posted a similar version but with Wayne in it. Whilst The Sun published the image from her public account, they reported on the existence of the private photo....Advertisement
20. ...which led to one of her many warnings to any FAKE friends spying on her socials!
At this point Coleen was starting to get suspicious, claiming 'it's the 4th thing in recent weeks I've noticed!', referring to private stories being leaked to the press. Before the dramatic moment where she called out Vardy on her Instagram, she did post several of these warnings on her private account, giving whoever was leaking the information, an opportunity to stop before Rooney decides to take it any further.Advertisement

You may remember an earlier awkward leaked conversation between Rebekah and Jamie, after it was reported Wayne Rooney had to have a chat with Jamie, essentially telling him to ask his wife to 'pipe down'. Jamie denied having this conversation with his teammate, however Rooney is adamant that he did, commenting:I spoke to Jamie 100%, I remember the conversation I had with Jamie. It was awkward for me to have to speak to a team-mate regarding his wife.Regardless, the news of the conversation that may-or-may-not have happened seemed to cause a rift between the two footballers, with Rooney commenting that Jamie Vardy isn't someone he has 'ever particularly been friends' with. By nature, the Wagatha Christie trial was played out as much on Twitter, as it was in the High Court. Forget about 'Innocent until proven guilty'...the many social media accounts trolling Vardy, calling her every name under the sun and even threatening her family, proved that in the eye's of the public, Vardy was guilty. Mrs Rooney told the court that it was never her 'intention for Mrs Vardy to receive abuse' and she regretted calling out Vardy in public, having now seen how much abuse Vardy received.

Not all of the hoax stories that Coleen posted to her story were as dramatic as the car crash... in fact some of them were just outright bizarre. Rooney shared a story to her private Instagram in April 2019, hinting that they was looking into gender selection. After the story was posted Vardy straight away messaged her agent questioning if the Rooney's were going for 'baby 5' but then quickly followed up with 'Maybe she’s just put it to see if anyone gives it to the media x'...nothing get's past Rebekah Vardy! Amongst all the drama of the case itself, I never actually questioned one thing...why was Coleen wearing a protective boot alongside her Gucci loafers? Apparently the WAG sustained an ankle injury following an accident at the family home. She hasn't broken anything though, just a minor ankle injury which is probably the LEAST of her worries right now!Advertisement
