Burger King Favourites We Wish Would Come Back

1. The Yumbo Sandwich
Image Source / Love FoodThis sandwich was first brought out in 1968 - what a great decade - and was packed full of melted cheese and hot ham for its six-year run. Sadly, it was discontinued for whatever reason (because it sounds delicious, so why?) even though it did make a brief comeback in 2014, updated with lettuce and mayo.Advertisement
2. Bacon Cheesy Tots

Image Source / Love FoodThis option is very similar to a long-running Burger King menu item: the Cheesy Tot. But as the name suggests, this one's different because of one key ingredient - and it's an ingredient many people are going to love, so why take it away from us? The Bacon Cheesy Tot had everything you love about breadcrumb coating around melted cheese, but with hickory bacon in the middle!

3. BK Fire-Grilled Ribs

4. Rib Sandwich
Image Source / Love FoodSpeaking of ribs - they also offered ribs in the form of a sandwich known as (funnily enough) the Rib Sandwich! This came after their Fire-Grilled Ribs offering where, a few years later, they tried success with a boneless rib patty, barbeque sauce and gherkins on a bun. Sounds good to me, so why did they take it off?5. Memphis BBQ Pulled Pork

Image Source / Love FoodDebuting on the Summer BBQ Menu, the Memphis BBQ Pulled Pork burger was as good as it sounds. It was chock full of braised pork with Memphis BBQ sauce, and then topped off with onions and Southern dressing, all in a bun. This one was sure to be a hit, but for some reason it was taken away from us.
6. Whopper Dog
Image Source / Love FoodJust like ribs, hot dogs also seem to be a menu item that has never really seen long-term success at fast food places. The Whopper Dog was meant to be the Whopper burger equivalent in hot dog form, including a Classic option or a Chilli Cheese option. For whatever reason, these tasty-looking hot dogs didn't really take off.Advertisement
7. Enormous Omelette Sandwich

Image Source / Love FoodThis isn't just us describing it, that was actually its name! The enormous omelette sandwich was a breakfast item back in 2005, and was made with two eggs, some cheese, bacon, sausage and a (very) long sesame seed roll. While a very filling breakfast choice, it also came with the calories.
8. Frozen Lemonade: Lemon And Strawberry

Image Source / Love FoodThere's nothing more refreshing than getting something like this during the summer when you pull up to the Drive Thru window, which is why it's so surprising that this option didn't stay on the menu. Available from 2012 to 2014, it was apparently only a limited edition menu item - but it absolutely shouldn't have been.
9. Sweet Potato Fries

Image Source / Love FoodSweet potato has always been a favourite of many people, but back in the 2010s it seemed to be more popular than usual - which is probably why Burger King put it on their menu. This fry alternative to regular ones, apart from being very bright orange, was supposed to be a more 'healthy' option - but with fast food places, the normal fries are always going to win.
10. Sweet Potato Curly Fries

Image Source / Love FoodBut speaking of fries - it's always good to have a curly fry option! These curly fries were a much more crunchy (and more curly) option to the sweet potato fries, unveiled in 2012. The problem with these - at least if you were trying to be healthy - was that they were coated in sugar! Cinnamon sugar, to be exact.
11. Bacon Sundae

You may have had to read that twice, but yep - that's savoury meat and sweet dessert put together. Which actually sounds delicious. The Bacon Sundae was vanilla soft-serve ice cream with all the trimmings (chocolate and caramel sauce) and then topped off with smoky bacon! I think this one is definitely one you either love or hate - but it doesn't really matter because it was taken off the menu anyway.
12. Poutine á la Burger

Image Source / Love FoodPoutine is a popular national dish from Canada, and no matter where you're from in the world, you can't deny it looks delicious. Fries, cheese and hot gravy all in one - what's not to love? Well Burger King took this staple and made it into a burger, by taking poutine and then putting a beef patty, gherkins, ketchup and mustard on the top of it. But does it count as a burger without the bun?
13. Burger Shots
Image Source / Love FoodNo, this wasn't blended up burgers served in a shot glass - this was pretty much like a burger slider, where you wanted a burger but maybe didn't want a massive Whopper. These mini burgers were the perfect snack, which is why it's surprising they were taken off the menu. Maybe they weren't being bought enough as regular burgers?Advertisement
14. Cini-Minis
Image Source / Love FoodAnother mini snack option on the menu were these Cini-Minis - great name for a tiny cinnamon roll, perfect if you wanted a sweet snack fix but wanted to feel less guilty about it. They were ridiculously cheap, too, at only 99 cents for a pack of 4! It's actually a crime these were taken away from us.Advertisement
15. Satisfries
Anything that's great food AND a great name pun is fine by me. These fries were crinkle-cut and chunky, an old-school favourite that Burger King added to their menu with the intention of them being a bit of a healthier choice. But, sadly, they weren't a huge hit, so they had to be taken off the menu.
16. Whopperrito
I personally think it's great when fast food places offer wraps or burritos on the menu alongside burgers - it's just great to have the option, you know? Enter the Whopperrito, which came with guacamole, salsa and jalapeños on the basis of Tex-Mex inspiration. It also had beef, tomato, lettuce, onions and gherkins. It sounds delicious, so why did they take it off?
17. Chicken Fries Rings

Image Source / Love FoodOn the menu at Burger King are the popular Chicken Fries, which are chicken nuggets shaped like a fry. Not to be confused with this old menu item, which is Chicken Fries Rings, that were very similar but shaped like an onion ring instead of a long tube! Which just seems like a better idea to me than a normal fry shape, but maybe that's just me.
18. Maple Waffle Sandwich
Image Source / Love FoodAnything with 'maple' and 'waffle' in the same sentence has to be an absolute hit, right? When Burger King launched the Maple Waffle Sandwich, it wasn't just one flavour (which would have been treat enough) but three different ones! It included eggs, American cheese and then a choice of ham, sausage or bacon.Advertisement
19. French Toast Sandwich
You absolutely would want this for breakfast every day, wouldn't you? Nutritious breakfast be damned. The French Toast Sandwich came with folded eggs and American cheese, with a choice of bacon, ham or sausage, packed between two slices of French Toast. Though it was taken off the menu eventually, it made a random return in 2021 with maple butter sauce!
20. Buffalo Chicken Fries
Image Source / Love FoodThis limited-edition menu option was similar to the chicken nugget fries we mentioned earlier, but with a few different tantalising taste options. There was Buffalo Chicken Fries, Fiery Chicken Fries and Pretzel Chicken Fries. This one came with a buffalo wing flavour that you could pair with your favourite sauce.Advertisement
21. Mac n’ Cheetos
It's exactly what it sounds like, and we're here for it. This novelty menu item was the mac 'n' cheese trend with a Cheetos brand twist, launched in 2016. But, as always, novelties soon wear off, and it was never a permanent menu item, sadly. It was a great (and delicious) idea though!
22. Red Velvet Oreo Shake

Image Source / Love FoodThis sounds like absolute heaven, but maybe it was too powerful for people to handle? The milkshake does certainly look like the most unhealthy thing you could ever come across, with the chocolate shake including Oreo cookie crumbs and even a cream cheese addition! This would take some working off at the gym, though.
23. Froot Loops Milkshake
Because there are never enough unhealthy and delicious milkshake options, here is the Froot Loops shake from 2017, which combined tasty flavour with a touch of nostalgia for a popular breakfast cereal. Apparently it tasted like cereal milk with vanilla soft serve ice cream and even had chunks of cereal in it!
24. Molten Fudge Sundae
Image Source / Love FoodIf you're a chocolate dessert lover, then the molten chocolate cake had to be one of your favourites - and here Burger King turned it into a delectable sundae. Included in this guilty feast was molten brownie balls, chocolate and caramel sauce and vanilla soft serve ice cream to top it all off. Why was this ever taken off? It's a travesty!Advertisement
25. Italian Breakfast Burrito
Image Source / Love FoodThe name alone sounds delicious and definitely something I'd have for breakfast anyway. Back in 2012, this menu option came with scrambled eggs, sausage, hash browns, melted cheese (mozzarella, to give it a posher, more Italian touch) and a marinara sauce with peppers and onions. It's a mystery why this was taken off the menu! Maybe too much of a good thing?Advertisement
26. Garden Fresh Salads
Image Source / Love FoodIt's always nice to have at least one salad option on a fast food menu so you can look at it, nod approvingly, and then order something else. But it's no surprise that a salad might not sell very well and be taken off the menu. Enter Burger King's Garden Fresh Salad, which included options like Chicken BLT and Chicken, Apple and Cranberry. RIP.Advertisement
27. Angry Whopper
Image Source / Love FoodMaybe people were put off ordering this because it wasn't quite clear what 'angry' was supposed to mean. Was the chef angry when he made it? Do you need to be angry to order it? Well, apparently 'angry' was supposed to be mean 'spicy' - so you'd be getting a spicy Whopper, allegedly, which then turned out to be more mild than super red hot. Maybe this confusion was why it was taken off the menu!Advertisement
28. Lamb Flatbread
Image Source / Love FoodFlatbread is great when you have a hankering for it, and a lamb flatbread definitely sounds like a delicious - and slightly upmarket - offering from the fast food chain. It came with spicy lamb patty, salad, mint yoghurt and chilli ketchup, but alas, it wasn't meant to be, and left a very lamb-sized gap in the menu choices.Advertisement
29. Coronation Chicken Royale
Image Source / Love FoodWhich brings us back to chicken. Burger King released this particular sandwich in the honour of the (now late) Queen of England, Elizabeth II, for her Diamond Jubilee. It was chicken breast patty served with curry-flavoured sauce and lettuce. And you don't have to be celebrating royalty to enjoy that combination!Advertisement
30. Italian Original Chicken Sandwich
Image Source / Love FoodIt's a sin that this was never a permanent menu item, because it was popular and delicious. The Italian Original Chicken came with breaded chicken, marinara sauce and mozzarella in a tasty sesame bun. While it lasted for a bit in 2014, it was actually brought back in 2021 - and went down a treat, as you can imagine.Advertisement
