Fat Animals From Each Species

Meet Obie, the world's fattest doggo

To kick off the list, we have Obie, the world's fattest sausage dog. Daschunds are meant to be petite animals, with their long and cute sausage body, but not this one. Obie weighed a whopping 5.5st and had to be put on a strict diet after this elderly parents overfed him. He's still cute though!

Now who's that fat cat?

This chubby feline you see here is call Liznya, a fat cat that shot to fame on Instagram last year. The poor thing has actually been put on a diet of Royal Canin food to help her weight come down, and the cat's Russian mother was accused of fattening her up for the Gram...

This fat hamster broke the wheel!

Hamsters already have a relatively low life-span of two years, so pumping them full of junk food will only decrease that life-span! Much like other animals, hamsters can become obese too, and just take a look at this one... I bet it can't make its way around the cage.

This Thai fatty monkey just can't get enough

The people of Thailand were very surprised when they came across this massive macaque in a floating market. Weighing around 33 pounds, the monkey has been called Uncle Fatty (love it), but didn't spend too long on the streets, as a wildlife rescue center got involved to help.

The tragic story of Barnaby's Last Revenge

Gladys Mayweather took to the internet to tell the story of her beloved obese horse, Barnaby's Last Revenge. The horse was a huge (pun not intended) part of Mayweather's life, as she so gallantly declared in her eulogy:
"I don’t think I’m being hyperbolic when I say that he was a supernatural being sent from a higher dimension to teach me, Gladys Mayweather, the true meaning of love and life. We did everything together, hand in hoof."

Oh deer, this isn't looking too good!

Who knew deer could look so big? This obese deer was caught on someone's night cam outside their home. Deer are usually slim and agile for their speedy getaways, but it's clear that this deer hasn't been chased by a predator much and would rather indulge in treats.

The rats don't run this city... he does

It's safe to say that this is the biggest rat we've ever laid our eyes on. This surprised Reddit user was quick to post the pic of the ginormous rat after letting it politely perch on the pinstripe pants. I think someone needs to go on some kind of diet!

The hippo that can barely move!

This sad looking hippo was discovered after Russian reporters went to a local zoo and saw how destitute the hippos looked there. The Governor promised to help the poor animals until the whole thing turned into a PR project, with the hippo being joked at as part of the United Russia membership.

Stripes as big as Saturn's rings: the super-big Siberian tiger

While a big fat tiger might call for comments like "cute as hell" or "adorable", they're anything but. The Born Free Foundation released images of obese Siberian tigers at the Yuqiong Zhou Zoo in China, where tigers were mistreated and overfed until they developed health concerns. Not cool!

The whopping size of Kalahari Goats

Notably known as Kalahari red goats, these type of goats take the biscuit for being the fattest there is. Believe it or not, the native-South-Africans can actually grow up to 250lbs in size, all for their popular meat. Sounds like an ethical issue to me!

Is it a peacock? Not quite...

At first glance, you might've thought that this bird was a peacock (minus the majestic tail span). Well, I can actually tell you that this is a specific species of parrot, a kakapo in New Zealand. Sadly, though, as of 2019, there were only around 142 of these parrots left!

This pig's looking a little porky...

Little pot belly pig Amy didn't stay little for long, in fact she grew so fat that an MSPCA official said it was one of the fattest pigs they'd seen in their life. She was just a pet, being fed meat, vegetables and tons of sweets. No wonder she got so big!

I think that's more than enough wool!

Okay, so might be a little lie that this sheep ended up in the fattest animal list, because the amount of wool you're seeing here on this sheep is actually six whole years worth. The sheep was named Chris and found in Australia, before dying not long after.

This alpaca is definitely packing...

It's safe to say that alpacas are one of the cutest (and funniest) animals out there, we just can't get enough of them. This little fella has got to be one of our favorites, who knew that alpaca's could be so darn cute? With all that meat and fur, I'm sure it'll stay warm for winter!

That's beary big

Don't get me wrong, bears are meant to be massive anyway, but this bear is just taking the biscuit. It was all part of the Fat Bear Week in Katmai National Park's 2018 competition. I mean, when you hear that it's a competition, it makes it all seem kinda sad...

This camel has many a hump

Who knew that camels would look so majestic when they are so big? This camel is a Bactrian camel, which is found in central Asia. The humps on its back look nothing compared to its stumpy stomach, massive gullet and fat thighs. It's safe to say it's the biggest camel I've ever seen.

Is that a goose or bowling ball?

No, seriously, I think I've used this bowling ball a couple of times down the bowling hall. Jokes aside, this goose meant business when it went storming through the field towards the photographer. I'm sure whoever was behind the camera was more shocked than us.

I think he ape all the snacks...

It's not unusual for apes, orangutans and chimps to be oversized, but this fella is something else. Munching on some kind of snack, this guy doesn't look like he'll be putting down the snacks anytime soon, and clearly looks content eating the way he is!

Someone has been cheating on their diet

We thought we were done with all the fattest felines, but we couldn't leave this one out of the list. Aren't cheetahs meant to be the fasted land mammals? Well, I beg to differ... this cheetah is looking a bit worse for wear if you ask me! The poor thing!

The curious case of Darius the rabbit

Darius, the huge Continental Giant Rabbit, managed to nab the Guiness World Record for being the fattest rabbit on the planet, coming in at over four feet long. It's not all happy days though, Darius was actually stolen from his owners in London back in 2010!

Finger lickin lizard

Who knew that lizards could get so fat? This little fella must've been on a KFC diet in order to get this big, it looks as though he drags that pot belly around with him everywhere he goes. It surely isn't comfortable! We need a conversation with his owner...

Alvin ate the chipmunks

Alvin and the Chipmunks is one hell of a kids film, especially the cute little chubby one Theodore. I think this chubby chipmunk here wins in weight though, but still looks as adorably cute! Seriously, what did he eat in order to become so big and hench?

Big fat red panda

When you think of a red panda, you might think of Master Shifu from Kung Fu Panda. Well, this red panda is a little less agile than that red panda, but looks even more cute than we imagined! I hope all that extra weight doesn't slow him down in the snow too much.

This skunk smells of gravy

Skunks don't have a great reputation, especially for their distinct stink. Supposedly, skunks are sensitive animals, and that's very believable considering this one probably ate his emotions up! Although, they're intelligent enough to go rooting through your kitchen cupboards...

This bison is looking bricked up

You wouldn't believe this but I think this could actually be the heaviest animal on this list. The bison is the heaviest American buffalo and the apparently the fattest ever recorded came in at a whopping 3,800 pounds. Now that is a lot of muscle mass!

This rabid raccoon had the munchies one too many times

This raccoon, Bandit, actually held the record at one time for being the fattest raccoon ever recorded, weighing nearly 75 pounds, which is a lot for such a small critter. The furry fiend was notable for his love of junk food... I mean, I can relate to be honest!

Walrus clearly missed his weigh-in at the docs

Walruses are some of the biggest animals in the world and they can actually weigh up to an astounding 3,000 pounds (that's a lot of bags of sugar). They need all that blubber though, it protects them from the freezing temperatures they endure in the water!

This rhino won't be charging anytime soon

I mean, to an extent, all rhinos look pretty fat, but the white rhino is something else. These giant land mammals charge when they feel threatened, but I don't think this one stands much of a chance! Typically they can weight anything between 1.6 and 4 tons!

An otterly gorgeous critter

After The Monterey Bay Aquarium tweeted this gorgeous photo a fat sea otter, many people didn't take to the tweet too well, and the aquarium were forced to apologize. People didn't like how they were romanticizing its size, saying that they should take better care of their animals.

This just takes the cake...

To finish this list off, we thought it useful to share a pic of the biggest human in the world. Manuel Uribe was once the heaviest person at 1,230 pounds, until his death at age 48 in Mexico. Before his passing, he had spent two years bed-bound due to his weight.

Less than happy feet

Penguins can usually get on the chonky side, but they look more athletic than obese, let's be honest - they need to be able to swim and propel themselves forwards, whereas this guy just looks like he'd rather sit down for a bit and eat some fish. Some more fish, we mean.

This seal is questioning its life choices

Is this seal podgy because he's been overthinking and overeating? Or is he overthinking because he's been overeating and wants to change? You decide. Either way, he looks like he needs some guidance - and a new diet plan, probably. Eating's no fun if you aren't happy about it!

The bunny rabbit who can't easily hop

A lot of bunny rabbits are usually big bundles of fur and cuteness, but this one looks like it's been eating far too many pies - or, you know, whatever rabbits eat. Green stuff? He's been eating lots of green stuff, anyway. But as long as he's living his best life, that's all that matters.

The squirrel who ate ALL the nuts

This guy decided he was gonna hoard a whole load of food for over the winter during the hibernation - and then thought na actually, I'm going to eat it all now for a light snack. Now there's a squirrel who doesn't care about getting that summer-ready body, right?

The ugly duckling

And by 'ugly' we of course mean adorable, because even with the extra pounds this duckling is showing off, he's still a big ball of cuteness. Maybe ducklings carry 'baby fat' like most of us did at a young age? He'll grow out of it, hopefully. If not, he's still cute.

Less hedge, more hog

When you see hedgehogs curled up in a cute ball, it's usually because they're trying to protect themselves from something - or someone. But this little guy just looks like he's had a very heavy lunch and probably has bloating and stomach cramps - so that's the most comfortable position for him.

Guzzler the guinea pig

And pig would be right for this fella! Guinea pigs are usually a little chubby anyway - it's what makes their face so cute - but this guy looks like he's been having second helpings at the all-you-can-eat guinea pig buffet. We don't blame him, though - who doesn't want seconds?

Chipmunk who's been eating all the chips

The best thing about this picture is not only is the chipmunk on the chonky side, he's not letting that stop him from
still
nibbling something else as a snack! This one has definitely been living up to his name and eating all the chips - and the fries, and the pies.. and everything else.

The fat prairie dog

Forget Little House on the Prairie - more like big house, for the big prairie dog. The very big prairie dog! This guy looks like he's so stuffed that he can't even stand up or walk to get to where he's going. The only problem with this is once you sit down, it's even harder to get back up again!

This wombat ate a big lunch

This wombat has been eating so much that not only is it too heavy to comfortably walk around on its own four legs, but it's so heavy that the animal keepers have to heave him up and carry him around to help him move - which is probably a struggle for them as much as it is for the wombat!

And who said koalas only eat leaves?

This koala is either an exception to the rule or he's being a serious rebel in his diet. Have you ever seen a koala bear this tubby? At least his weight hasn't stopped him from still being able to haul himself up a tree branch to sit there for a while - and contemplate his decisions.

Have you ever seen a tarsier?

Just in case you've never seen this primate before, just to let you know - it's usually supposed to be a lot smaller and more slender than this! This one has obviously been cheating on its new year's diet plan. Still, it looks like it's light enough to still climb a tree!

Fat llama

Llamas have been growing in popularity for the 'cutest animal' award, with more and more people having them as pets or keeping them on farms. But usually that's a llama that's a lot slimmer than this one - we don't think we've ever seen a llama this fat!

The bakery thief

Regret is written all over this possum's face - and bulging stomach - after it's clearly broken into this bakery box and decided to chow down on most of the contents. It looks like it gave up half way through though - and we don't blame it, because its stomach looks full to bursting! I think we can all relate to this expression.

The chunk skunk

Skunks usually have a large surface area, but that's usually down to the amount of fluff they're carrying - and especially on that huge tail. But this skunk is chunky for no other reason than it's been eating too much - you can't even blame it on the fluff this time!

Is that a frog?

Or should we say... did this used to be a frog? Because it's certainly not anymore, it's just a sort of heavy splat. But don't be alarmed - just in case you've never seen this breed of frog before (purple frog) its face is actually supposed to look like that, and it's not just mushed because of the excess weight!

Chunky monkey

This monkey is seriously staring down that green and healthy-looking item of food in its hand, as though questioning whether it's too late to try the diet. Either that or it's offended in the first place being given salad instead of that huge burger it probably wants.

Would you want this chubby toad as your Hogwarts pet?

You can have a cat, rat, toad or owl after all - but would this get too tiring carrying around after a while because of the excess weight? This chubby toad even seems shocked that this person was able to pick it up - but maybe it's just grateful it doesn't have to carry its own weight around for a bit.

This bobcat's certainly bobbing

Bobbing on water, bobbing down the sides of snowy hills... that's the only way it's going to get around, because it certainly can't work when it's carrying this much weight! We have to admit, though, it does carry it well - we certainly wouldn't want to mess with this hefty wild animal!

The giraffe with hamster cheeks

If there's one thing we normally say about giraffes is that they're skinny: skinny legs, skinny long necks and definitely skinny faces. So this giraffe with adorable chubby cheeks is certainly one to see, as though it's hiding its latest snack in there - which is probably is.
