1. New Zealand - inside a PLANE

Okay surely this has to be the coolest and craziest McDonald's ever. Imagine going to order your usual Maccies and having to board a plane first. This is an old decommissioned plane which has been renovated and the best thing of all is you can eat inside the plane!
2. Sweden - McDonald's ski-thru

In Sweden, on the top of a mountain is a McDonald's where you can ski-thru. Forget a drive in you can literally pass on your skis to collect your order. AND, you can order whilst sat on a ski lift! On the scale of craziest McDonald's this surely has to come first.
3. Missouri - floating McDonald's

Missouri opened the first ever floating McDonald's in the entire world. It's set on the river so when you walk into the McDonald's you're actually on the river. McDonald's have clearly made it their mission to find the craziest locations possible to have a restaurant.
4. Paris - UNESCO world heritage site

Have you ever seen a more beautiful McDonald's. Not only is it a treat to look at but it's super historical and this building is actually a listed UNESCO world heritage site. A cultural experience is not what you expect when you're going in to get your McDouble and fries.
5. Germany - a castle

Okay, you see this right. It's literally a CASTLE. McDonald's have gone one up on the crazy building scale and decided to use a former royal palace to have one of their many fast food chains. Royals were waking around in tis very spot where we now devour our fast food feasts.
6. Russia - on a train

McDonald's clearly have something about using old transport. This unused and decommissioned train had no real purpose until McDonald's decided to get creative and turn their eating experience into a full immersive experience as you can sit in the very same old train seats.
7. China - a former Taiwanese leader's house

Now McDonald's really pulled it out of the bag again in terms of using the craziest locations. In China they used a villa which once belonged to a Taiwanese leader. So you can go right inside the villa for your McDonald's, exactly where this former leader used to stay.
8. Australia - art deco

It's not a plane or a train but it does look completely cool. Why doesn't my McDonald's look like this? This building is 1920s/30s style, art deco themed and it completely out does most of the McDonald's that we usually visit. This would definitely stand out.
9. California - the first ever McDonald's

Where it all began - this is the oldest McDonald's ever because it was the very first restaurant. And they've kept it exactly the same to this very day. Look at the how there's only one of the iconic golden arches. Now this is surely a piece of history right here.
10. Norway - an old bank

When you see such an impressive and historical building the one thing you don't expect is for there to be a McDonald's inside. Here they haven't got any of the usual advertisement, just a subtle McDonald's sign so that they do not detract from the old bank and it's features.

If ever there was a McDonald's which truly draws you in, it's got to be this one in Brazil, Sao Paulo. The huge cartoon fries on the side have you drooling immediately and the white pillared building is also impressive. This is truly great marketing from McDonald's.

This McDonald's in Porto, Portugal used to be a world famous café called Café Imperial. Now, it's been taken over by none other than McDonald's. The bronze eagle on the front of the building was sculpted by none other than the famous sculptor Henrique Moreira.
13. Budapest - railway station

This building is one of the grandest McDonald's ever. And it's no wonder, as it was built by the same company who built the Eiffel tower - the Eiffel company. It was once the Western Railway Station until it was no longer used anymore for this purpose and it was renovated as a McDonald's.
14. Switzerland - in the mountains

This McDonald's exists 8000 feet high, way up in the mountains in a small village in the Swiss alps. It's smaller and prettier than most McDonald's to adhere to the strict code of the village and the surroundings. Hence whey there is no bold marketing or signs.
15. Poland - grand piano

For one of the most immersive McDonald's experiences ever, you need to head to the city of Warsaw in Poland. As you can see here you can eat at the table which is actually a grand piano. And, there's also a piano playing on floor two by a professional pianist.
16. Dallas - a GIANT happy meal

Now who wants to sit inside a giant McDonald's Happy Meal whilst eating your very own Happy Meal? YES please. This is definitely one of the craziest looking McDonald's ever as they have transformed the entire building into a McDonald's box - you just want to get inside!

Right so McDonald's have truly outdone themselves this time. You enter McDonald's and get to look through and stand on a glass floor which is placed right above a real Roman road which was found whilst excavating this very McDonald's - talk about crazy.

In Cambridgeshire, England there was one of the craziest ever McDonald's. It was shaped like a huge UFO. It really did attract customers in who wanted to visit the UFO. You can imagine the attraction as a child. Unfortunately, it's not here today as it had to be renovated.
19. Germany - sail-thru

In Hamburg, Germany there is a McDonald's which you can sail to. It's on a river, and instead of a drive by this is a float by. You can stop next to the window on your boat to order and collect your McDonald's. Now that sounds like one of the craziest ways to have a McDonalds.
20. Mexico - a little window

Is this not the cutest McDonald's you've ever seen? It's not even a building, it's literally just a tiny window. You walk up to the window to order and get your food. What you see is what you get, there's nothing more to it than literally one window.
21. Lithuania - walk-thru

As you'll know, in drive-thru's you're not allowed to go on foot. So, the fact that there's a walk-thru in Lithuania is extremely cool. It's also super convenient for if you're out and about in the city and you want to order quick and eat on the go.
22. Australia Melbourne - renovated hotel

This building does not look like any other McDonald's. Nor does it look commercial. It was once actually used and built as a hotel, until the business died out and McDonald's used the space instead. You'd never even know this was a McDonald's until you saw the small sign on the front.

In Prague there's one of the most controversial McDonald's ever. This McDonald's is placed right outside of the outside the museum of Communism. Some people enjoy the history, however, some people think that McDonald's should be far removed from anything with a political view.

What you don't expect when you're miles in the middle of the Negev desert is a McDonald's. I guess the idea that there's a McDonald's in every corner of the world is true. Amidst the sand and palms there are the iconic golden arches, ready to rehydrate you with a can of Cola.

Okay where's the golden in these arches? Here's something we've never seen before. A BLUE McDonald's. You'd probably question whether it was even real. But McDonald's had to oblige tot he town code and turn their signs red rather than the usual yellow.

In Singapore's Marine Cove theme park, you have yourself a McDonald's right in the middle of the children's recreation area. A theme park AND a McDonald's in the very same place. Is this not a child's idea of a perfect day? Okay, admittedly, adults too!

This McDonald's in Thailand is inside a shopping mall and it's got to be one of the chicest and most modern looking McDonald's we've ever seen. Now this really entices us to have a shopping day at the mall and grab ourselves a yummy Maccies all in one!
29. South Africa - the middle of nowhere

It's true isn't it, that you can be driving for miles around in the middle of nowhere, you might not even have a single clue where you've even are and there's absolutely nothing around...except a McDonald's. The relief of seeing that yellow 'M' is HUGE.
30. Philippines - Spanish colonial style building

We've never seen a McDonald's like this before. This McDonald's can be found in the Philippines and it's built in a Spanish colonial style building. Not only is the front impressive but once you go inside there's chandeliers. It sounds like a very upgraded McDonald's.

When you're so used to seeing those huge golden arches, it just seems crazy to this this old colonial house could be a McDonald's restaurant! Found in Maine, USA, this one doesn't have any sort of McDonalds logo, and inside you can expect wooden booths and even fireplaces!
32. Sydney Airport, Australia - see through kitchen!

Also known as the McDonald's Sky Kitchen - and it's easy to see why! - this restaurant in Sydney Airport is one of the best. It has a see-through yellow box kitchen which even seems to be floating in the air - and each item you order is delivered from up top on a conveyor belt!
33. Bergen, Norway - a traditional building

In the city of Bergen is one of the oldest, traditional buildings - and it just so happens to be a McDonalds restaurant! There are no huge illuminous yellow arches to be found on the outside here, just that glorious white timber panelling so you can be sure to dine in style.

35. Dallas, Texas - a shout out to Dallas zoo!

Joined by its animal buddies, the giraffe showcases this particular McDonald's that's located right by - you guessed it - Dallas Zoo. Inside, there's also a massive elephant to greet you!

It's located in the old town, so the building had to be in keeping with that sort of style. This means you can take in the traditional stone, enjoy the nearby river and the mountains while eating your fries!
39. Batumi, Georgia - the building that clashes with everything

The architect of this McDonald's building actually intended for it to clash with every traditional building around it, down to its very futuristic architecture. Apparently he wanted this geometric building to be a place to 'escape' the outside world. It also has a pond running all the way around it!
40. Rotterdam, Netherlands - the building was supposed to be demolished

This building in Rotterdam was once called the ugliest building in the city, and it was planned to be demolished before McDonald's got their hands on it and give it a very nice makeover! It now has a standout white spiral staircase and a glass front, giving it more of a sleek style.

This impressive restaurant on Brazil has taken grand scale to the max! Just look at those huge Happy Meal boxes outside! But that's nothing compared to what's inside... you can find a chandelier shaped like a Big Mac, and it even has its own 'golden arches' swing set!

It makes sense why this McDonald's in Russia would look like the perfect alpine chalet - and that's because it's set in the surrounding ski resorts of the mountainous region. This resort actually hosted the 2014 Olympics, too. It was originally a temporary McDonald's for the event, but decided to stick around!

On the outside, this McDonald's in France looks very much nostalgic and vintage, with its beige accents and understated signage. Instead, it's a little bit eclectic - but it's all the better for it! You can find classic white and black ceramic floor tiles and a ton of chairs that don't match!

This stunning building could easily be mistaken for an observatory, a museum or anything else particularly fancy and very expensive. Although the golden arches sign of course make it stand out as a McDonald's, the rest of the building blends in with the surrounding Georgian architecture.
