With higher inflation and interest rates, a lot of American jobs are in danger, so it's good to know where to look if you're on the job market. There's a higher chance that these companies are hiring, so check out this list and good luck!
2. Walmart is king

Walmart is the largest employer in 22 states in the US, including Ohio, Florida, Kansas and Texas. They have 1.5 million full-time workers in the US alone, and over 2.3 million workers worldwide. They are America's largest private employer, and they average $570 BILLION a year in revenue.
3. Alaska - AES Marine Support Services LLC

Alaska's number one employer is AES Marine Support Services LLC. This company focuses on oil and gas wells and has been around for about 10 years. They generate an estimated $14.8M in revenue even though they employ just under 2,000 people! This company packs a big punch.
4. California - Dollar Tree

Okay, this one surprised me! With all the tech companies who call California home, did you know that the number one employer in California is Buck Holdings LP... aka DOLLAR TREE! Honestly shook, but they have over 90,000 employees at their Menlo Park location.
5. Colorado - American Medical Response Inc.

The biggest employer in the state of Colorado is a medical transportation service called American Medical Response Inc. They specialize in everything from emergency medical services and non-emergency transportation. The company has over 33,000 employees!
6. Connecticut - CCO Holdings Capital Corp

For some reason, in my mind, it makes sense that the largest employer in Stamford, Connecticut is a company called CCO Holdings Capital Corp. With over 96,000 employees, the company focuses on debt securities and refinancing. Their annual revenue is a bit unclear, but they look to be clearing around $40 billion a year!
7. Delaware - Du Pont

If you're interested in sustainability, then this Delaware company is for you. More widely known as Du Pont, E I Du Pont Nemours And Co. employs 21,000 people in total. They are known for science-based products that encourage sustainability and innovation to make people's lives healthier and safer. Sounds like a good place to work!
8. Hawaii - Kyo-Ya Hotels & Resorts

This one also comes as no surprise! With Hawaii being a vacation hot spot, it makes sense that Kyo-Ya Hotels & Resorts is the largest employer in the state. Kyo-ya resorts include Sheraton Waikiki, Princess Kaiulani, and even the Maui Resort & Spa. You could live out your White Lotus dreams... imagine the stories you'd have!
9. Idaho - Albertsons

If you've ever shopped at an Albertsons, then you've helped sustain the largest employer in Idaho. With over 545,000 employees total and over 270,000 just in Boise, it's no wonder so many people want to work here. Do you think employees get discounts on groceries? That alone would make it well worth it!
10. Iowa - PPW Holdings

PPW Holdings is a holdings company that owns energy companies. So we have them and the state of Iowa to thank for the natural gas supply that they provide. This company has locations in other states as well, with the headquarters being in Florida, but it's Iowa's largest employer.
11. Maine - LL Bean

Here's another one that checks out. LL Bean... yes, the outdoor and recreational clothing company, is the number one employer in the state of Maine. People need the gear when they're going lobster fishing! This is a privately-held company with over 3,000 employees in the state.
12. Maryland - URS Federal Services International

URS Federal Services International is an engineering service provider. They have streams such as planning, consultancy, construction management, and program management. They conduct business globally, but with almost 40,000 employees, they are Maryland's top place to work.
13. Massachusetts - Austin Holdco

The company that employs the most people in Massachusetts is Austin Holdco. This company is a digital engineering and information services provider that operates globally. There wasn't a lot of public information about what they do and how they do it. So they must be important!
14. Michigan - FCA

I mean, without knowing ANYTHING, if you had to guess the biggest employer in the state of Michigan, you would 100% guess something in the motor industry. And you'd be right! FCA is the largest, and as you probably know, they own everything from Chrysler to Ford. Business is booming with over 77,000 employees at their Auburn Hills location.
15. Minnesota - The Mayo Foundation For Medical Education and Research

What they do is pretty much written out word for word for this number one Minnesota employer. The Mayo Foundation For Medical Education and Research does just that, and they employ a total of 60,000 people. They strongly hold to the belief that the first step to healing for a patient starts in the lab and the classroom.
16. Nebraska - Nebraska Medicine

The state of Nebraska is home to Nebraska Medicine. This is their number one employer in the state and the company is a private, non-profit healthcare company. They've been around since 1997, when two hospitals merged to provide better care for its residents.
17. Nevada - Station Voteco LLC

Are you surprised to know that Nevada's largest employer is in Las Vegas? The company Station Voteco LLC employs 12,000 people. What do they do? They're a chain of hotels and motels, specifically specializing in casino hotels. It would definitely get stressful, but it also sounds pretty fun!
18. New Jersey - ADP

I've always wondered what people do in New Jersey. This makes sense. ADP is located there, and the company employs 54,000 people. You've probably seen ADP around. They are one of the top payroll and HR companies, with offerings for compliance and benefit administration. Everybody loves pay day!

23. Oregon - Nike

27. Utah - Intermountain Healthcare Health Services

As a non-profit, they have a network of hospitals, doctors, clinics and surgery centers that serve various states. Their focus is on cancer, women and newborns, sports medicine and heart health.

not the largest employer in Washington. While Amazon is second in the country (behind Walmart) as the largest employer, their employees are spread out across the country. Huron Merger Sub is the largest employer in Washington state with almost 30,000 employees.

It might come as a surprise that the largest employer in the cheese state of Wisconsin is SB/RH Holdings. Many would assume that title went to someone in the cheese and dairy industry, but SB/RH focuses on consumer products and home essentials. This covers everything from batteries, bug repellents and pet supplies. They also manufacture home improvement and hardware products!
