So how much of that is just our minds playing tricks on us, or a spirit actually calling out your name? The name call makes it more likely it's someone who knows you, like a loved one who's passed.

Sounds like knocks, bumps and other strange noises can all be a sign of spirit communication, but the meaning can be very different depending on what you're hearing. Aggressive knocks or taunting knocks could be negative - while gentle sounds close by could be a more positive presence.

The time could have significance, like the time of death for someone who has passed. 3am is thought to be an evil's spirits mockery because of Christ's death supposedly being 3pm (so the devil inverts it!).

You've seen a lot of butterflies

Provided you're not actively in a butterfly hotspot or gone to a lepidopterarium, it counts. Butterflies have been believed to be the spirits of people who have passed, so if you're suddenly seeing a lot of them when you don't usually - and in places that don't make sense - it could be someone reaching out to you.

You see the faces of people you know to be dead

Do you have a weird moment of where you swear someone in the coffee shop looks like someone you know who has passed on, but when they turn around again they look completely different? You think you're just seeing things. This could be your mind thinking differently about the faces you see, but it could be someone pushing you towards that.

You see shadows in the corner of your eye

As well as the wrong faces, you might also double take at shadows you see in the corner of your eye, or jump at things you think you see only to find there's nothing there. It could just be a flash of something in your eye, but it gets more real if it's a shape you see for a long time, and which you see slowly moving, before you look at it.

Positive spirits, or spirits of loved ones who have passed, may reach out to you for contact by gently brushing you, tickling you or just that feeling on the back of your neck. It might even be in a way you recognize, like your passed loved one used to kiss you on the side of the cheek in a certain spot, and that's where you feel something.

A good way to gauge whether a spirit is trying to reach out to you through touch - and whether it's supposed to be friendly or not - is distinguishing between a gentle touch and forceful contact. It's unlikely a deceased loved one would want to cause you pain by pushing you too hard or poking, so it could be unwanted attention from a different kind of spirit.

Okay, so obviously the number one cause could be a virus, but it all depends what's happening - it doesn't have to be something dangerous to your computer to be something suspicious. You could have a random PDF on your computer that you don't remember downloading, for example, that has a name or a message on it.

You might have a news article load up randomly about the death of someone, or a name popping up without you searching for it yourself. This could be the person trying to lead you to them, or something about them.

A lot of the time, dreams can be a gateway for deceased loves one or spirits to send a message to you. You might have been having some really vivid dreams of a deceased loved one talking to you, or something happening that feels like someone is trying to tell you something. It's worth writing down what happened when you wake up!

Especially if circumstances of death were violent - it doesn't have to be someone you know, this could be a monk from the Middle Ages even - it might manifest in your sleep as a nightmare.

It could be you get a feeling, idea or full vision come over you when you're going about your daily business!

If you have physical photographs in your home in a frame, you might want to take a closer look at them - you could notice the glass has fogged up, or certain marks have appeared on certain photos. If the photos are of a certain person who has passed on, this could be a message from them. If you have digital photos, you might notice orbs, lights or even shapes in the background.
