Things All Men Cannot Live Without

1. TV!

Do you know a man in your life that doesn't absolutely LOVE the TV? Picture them, I bet you're envisaging them lying on their very particular spot on the sofa with the TV remote in hand watching some kind of action series or movie. Men rated TV VERY highly on their list of things they could not live without. And I'm sure to most of us it comes as absolutely no surprise at all. A man is in his happy place when he's slouched on the sofa with the full control of over the remote...oh and let's not forget - a beer in hand too.

2. Their partner

Some guys can't admit it, but they NEED their partner and feel totally lost without them. Guys are more romantic and emotional than they care to let on. And even if they aren't the most expressive when it comes to their words, deep down they adore you and love to be around you. And when a survey was taken, guys put their partner high on the list of things they couldn't live without. Plus, who else would they ask when they've lost something, 'babe, where's my...' the phrase every girlfriend hears at least five times a day.

3. Their bed

Something we can all agree on is the fact that there's no better bed in the world than your own. We don't care how comfy the mattresses are in hotels, or whether they're the best and finest cotton sheets, there's still something super satisfying about getting back to your own bed that does not compare. And guys feel this even more. They cannot live without their bed. They crave the comfort and security that we get from being in our own space and so when guys were asked the question of what you couldn't live without, their bed was up there on the list.

4. His car

A man and his car, there's just something about the combination. Men have always had a fascination with cars and I think we can all agree that it's essentially a big toy for them. they love them, and to take them away would make a lot of men very unhappy. There's also a kind of pride they have about their own car. Some of us share photos of our cats, and guys share photos of their cars. They also love to have conversations discussing all the different aspects of each car 'look at the alloys on this!'. Meanwhile, we completely zone out...

5. Phone

I think we can all admit that we're glued to our phones, whether it's checking work emails, keeping up with the family chat, or aimlessly scrolling through social media. But guys in particular cannot live without their phones, they're attached to them like it's another limb of their body and they carry it around constantly. When men and women were separated from their phones for a full day...the men reported feeling more lost/ bored/ or agitated without it than the women did. This proves our point, men cannot live without their phones!

6. BBQ Grill

Men all over can positively testify to the fact that they are THE best BBQ grill king ever. What is it about a grill that attracts men so much? As soon as it's summer, the grill comes out, friends come over and the men gather around the BBQ. They also want complete control over their grill. It's the etiquette that whoever's house it is, it's their grill and they are in charge. The rest of the men can stand back and admire the way he flips over the burgers but aside from that...the input stops here. Don't get in the way of a man and his grill!

7. Intimacy!

What's the most stereotypical thing you think of when you consider what men can't live without....some of you are probably thinking the obvious - getting intimate with a woman. But, it's true! According to what men themselves have ranked as the things they cannot live without, physical intimacy came within the top five on the list, which did rank higher when put in comparison with women who ranked it it within the top 10. In fact, it's something they think about multiple times a day. So, there it is straight from the horse's mouth. It's true, men would find it very difficult to live without. And we're not just talking about a hug.

8. Beer

Men and their love of beer go back way before time. It's an ongoing romance between men and their beer. If you see a man out and about, more often than not he'll have a beer in hand. The word 'beer' is enough to make them happy 'fancy a beer mate? Yeah, go on then'. The satisfying sound of the can opening, the fizz as they fill up the glass, and the satisfied and content...' cheers'. And each man seems to be quite the connoisseur 'I prefer this one, it's a little bit hoppy', or 'this one's lighter and tastes a little maltier'.

9. Soccer

It says it all when it comes as a surprise if we hear a guy say they DON'T like soccer...because the majority of men absolutely adore soccer. Again, men and soccer is an age-old combination. They adore it, and for many men, it actually consumes the majority of their time and thoughts. It's a real passion and if they're not watching it, or playing it, then at least they're thinking about it or checking scoreboards online. Men couldn't live without soccer. And, the majority of men you ask would fully admit to that fact too.

10. Bacon

Did you expect bacon to make the cut of things men couldn't live without? Maybe not, because it's not exactly considered a necessity. But then if you think about men and bacon you can understand why. Bacon breakfast, lunch, and dinner would please any man if they weren't trying to consider a healthy balanced diet. But as soon as the bacon hits the frying pan and starts sizzling away, that sweet and smoky aroma gets all the men flocking. So when men were asked what they couldn't live without...yep, bacon was on the list.

11. Jeans

Let's put it this way... what would a guy wear if he DIDN'T have jeans? Jeans are probably the biggest fashion staple and necessity for everybody. But especially for a man. Aside from sports pants or chinos...there really aren't many other options. So take away a man's jeans and his wardrobe is immediately cut right in half. A man wouldn't know what to do without his jeans. What would he wear? Picture a man right now and imagine their outfit. Are they wearing jeans? Of course, they are!

12. The gym

If you take the gym or sports away from a man they feel lost. The gym is something that a lot of guys are into. And it's not just about taking care of themselves externally, trying to build muscle, and trying to look the best they can to impress the ladies. It's not even just about doing it for your internal health and looking after your vital organs although this of course too is a huge factor. But many men find the gym super important for their mental well-being. Exercise makes them feel distressed and happy.

13. His toolset

Oh, men and their trusty tools. It's a fascination and love that triggers that primal spark inside him. Think about men, I bet almost every guy you know has some kind of tool bag or toolbox. It makes them feel practical, organized, and empowered. Do some of them even know how to use the tools? That's another story entirely. I'm pretty sure the amount of men owning tools outweighs the number of men who are actually competent and confident at DIY. But leave a man and his tools be because he couldn't live without them.

14. Gaming!

If you are the girlfriend or the partner of a guy obsessed with gaming, you'll know just how true this statement is, that a man cannot live without his gaming. You may wish it was true, that the gaming devices would vanish forever and you could actually turn his attention to something else...i.e. spending time with you. But there's just something about men that absolutely love to game. Playstation, gaming, computers...you name it. Whatever the game, whatever the device, he's probably tired and tested it.

15. Sneakers

Sneakers are an unbeatable form of footwear. Not only do they look GOOD, they're super comfortable. Sneakers are a man's best friend. Aside from wearing smart shoes for work or an event...the only other form of footwear available to men is sneakers. It's no wonder they couldn't live without them, they wouldn't have many other forms of footwear options left. Going to the gym? Gym sneakers. Going to the restaurant? Fashion sneakers. Nowadays having a good sneaker collection has become a man's mission.

16. The pub

A man in a pub is a happy man. The pub isn't just a place where men go for a beer, it's a place of camaraderie. When a man visits a pub they know they're going to bump into some friends. It's also the stomping ground to meet to watch and the soccer or the baseball, or to gather after a game, to celebrate the wins, and even commiserate with the losses. It's like a man's sanctuary, somewhere he can put aside his stresses and just enjoy his time out with friends, have a laugh and a joke...and yes, maybe a beer or two.

17. His 'me' time

Every man needs his alone time and personal space every so often. In fact, not even every man...people in general need time for themselves. But men ranked the pub as making the list of the things they couldn't live without. As soon as it comes to the weekend and a man realizes he can't go to the pub...it's seriously bad news. And, it's the stomping ground of all soccer fans who get together to celebrate the latest win...or even come together in commiseration for the latest loss. Pretty much any event can be marked by a visit to the local pub.

18. Takeout

If you find a man who can cook, you've got yourself a keeper. And while most men are able to cook, they do tend to be a little bit lazy when it comes to the kitchen. Especially if they live alone. Cooking up a meal from scratch doesn't sound as appealing as ordering takeout with the click of a button on your mobile phone. Pizza, Chinese, and Indian food all within the ease of pressing 'order' for a man is often too hard to resist. And who are we to judge...we're exactly the same. It would be very difficult for all of us to live without takeout.

19. Razor

A very practical item entered very high on the list of things that men said that they could not live without and it was in fact a razor! Take away a man's razor and within a week his stubble will have grown well past the point of the groomed look. Whether a man loves a clean shaved face, a stubble look, or a shaped moustache they all love a razor to keep in style and in shape. So a razor was something that the self-care kings out there could absolutely not live without.

20. Hot sauce

We can guarantee you know at least one man in your life who has an obsession with hot sauce. They put it on everything and anything and anything that tastes mildly uninteresting is ladened with hot sauce. Whatever the kind, they'll have tried and tested it as some kind of hot-sauced connoisseur. There are even the men out there who go the extreme of taking hot sauce with them...just in case they need to put some on the side to enjoy their food. Hot sauce ranked very high in terms of things a man couldn't live without.

21. Gadgets

Ah, shiny, futuristic toys that boys just can't help but be attracted to. You'll notice that if there's some kind of gadget, there will be a man nearby watching and looking at it, trying to decipher how it works. They're drawn to anything technological or mechanical like a magpie is drawn to shiny objects. They can't be without them, and whenever there's a chance that they can get a new one to add to their collection they will jump at the opportunity. And if not, they'll be researching some kind of gadget.

22. Coffee

I think we can all agree that a cup of coffee in the morning makes things much easier. Rolling out of the bed in the morning would feel very difficult if we didn't have the caffeine boost. And when men and women were asked about the things that they couldn't live without, coffee ranked much higher on a man's list than it did for women. It turns out that men need their liquid motivation even more than the rest of us. And, if they can get coffee from a cool coffee gadget-like machine, it's even better.

23. Their watch

How often do we see men wearing watches? A lot of men don't accessorize, and many don't really wear jewelry, but most men wear a watch. It's that staple part of an outfit. It's not just about looking at the time, in fact, it's not even about that at all (we all have phones for that now), it's a statement. It;'s a statement of brand, money, sentimental value, and many different kinds of things. And a man wearing a watch does have a kind of sophisticated and stylish look, so it's no wonder that that they couldn't live without them!

24. Leather jacket

I think we can all agree that a man wearing a leather jacket is extremely suave and it instantly transforms them into a ruggedly, handsome man who exudes a sense of confidence. It's amazing what a piece of clothing can do. Perhaps it's for this reason that all men have a staple leather jacket in their wardrobe. They're versatile and can be worn casually or as a smart outfit and it requires very little thought or effort to make a great-looking outfit. Women can't resist a man in a leather jacket and maybe some of envisaging Danny Zuko or James Dean...

25. 'Dad jokes'

Dad jokes are terrible there's no denying it. But because they are so bad...they have a kind of humor about them. It's not humor because the joke in any way was worthy of a laugh, but they evoke laughter because the attempt at humor was so far from funny that it's laughable. And this has a kind of endearing quality about it for everyone. But for a man telling dad jokes, they are completely unaware or unbothered by the fact that nobody else is laughing. Because they'll be laughing louder than anybody else in the room.

26. Pizza

When a group of men who questioned the things they couldn't live without...pizza made the list. Who can blame them? Who really wants to be without pizza? It's all of our guilty pleasure. Just the mention of it has us drooling over flavors of tomato, melted cheese, and whatever topping you choose, pepperoni or barbecue chicken, you name it. But the mere mention of pineapple on pizza will have a man spiraling into a passionate discussion about why pineapple should NOT (or should!?) be allowed on pizza.

27. Banter

Men have another level of banter between their friends...and any guy can tell you that it reaches all kinds of levels. In fact, the level of banter is some kind of sign as to how close the guys are. The closer the man's friends, the more the banter increases. They'd probably also tell you that it can get pretty brutal. In fact, if a guy is lightly ridiculing his friend, it's a sign of love! But they love it, and imagine a man not engaging in any banter amongst their friends? They wouldn't manage it. Men could NOT live without banter.

28. Their guy mates

Guy friends just have this kind of inexplicable bond with each other. They are with their guy friends whenever possible and they know they can count on them no matter what. They are the people a guy turns to when they're in need and you can pretty much that everything and anything will have been discussed in the boy's group chat. If there's a guy's night out, it's sacred. And nobody will come before the boys and their boy's time. They have a group of boys that have known each other forever, and there's never any kind of drama between them.

29. Their pet

Who would we be without our pets? Nobody gives us that unconditional loyalty and love, and never-ending enthusiasm like our pet will. Men are often the ones who say they don't want to get a dog or a cat. But who will be the one snuggled up with them on the sofa? Who will be the one that becomes inseparable from them? Yep, that's right. Men. Men and their fur babies have that special relationship and they absolutely cannot live without them. No matter what they say! We all hear the men talking to them in baby voices...

30. Their mom

Most guys are total mommy's boys, no matter what age they are. All men need their moms, and they have no shame in admitting that they couldn't live without them. Whether it's going to your mom for advice, or needing some comfort, or whether it's needing your mom's cooking which is hands down the best in the world - every man needs his mom whether it's every day, or now and again. And it's often guys in particular that really need their mom. Even if they have a girlfriend or a wife...it's not the same as having their mom.
