Charlie Hinton works as a marketing executive for a food company.  His wife has just gone back to work as a lawyer after having time off to look after their child.  They put their kid into childcare but as it's so expensive, so Charlie comes up with the idea of starting his own Daddy Day Care business!

Eddie Murphy - NOW

Eddie Murphy has played so many roles, far too numerous to mention but the standouts have to be "Coming to America", "The Nutty Professor", "Norbit", "Meet Dave" and "Coming to America II."  Hugely talented, Murphy won his very first Primetime Emmy Award for Outstanding Guest Actor in a Comedy Series.  This was in 2020 when he hosted "Saturday Night Live."

Phil - THEN

Phil is the friendly, casual and laid back dad, who is a bit goofy.  As he is in the same position as his friend and work colleague Charlie regarding childcare, he decides to bite the bullet and become a partner in Charlie's Daddy Day Care business.  What could possibly go wrong?

Jeff Garlin - NOW

Jeff Garlin was originally  stand up comedian which would explain his comic timing!  He is best known for playing the part of Murray Goldberg in the sitcom "The Goldbergs."  Fans of "Curb Your Enthusiasm" will know him as Jeff Greene, best friend of  Larry David. He also played Mort Meyers in "Arrested Development" and Marvin in "Mad About You." More recently, Garlin appeared in Toy Story 3.

Miss Harridan - THEN

Miss Harridan is the headmistress of the very prestigious Chapman Academy.  She is very stern and expects the preschool kids to follow a strict curriculum.  She disapproves of conventional child rearing practices and teaching methods.  In fact, she comes across as not liking kids!

Anjelica Houston - NOW

Anjelica Houston, daughter of acting royalty John Houston, is often portrayed as an eccentric character, for example as Morticia in "The Addams Family."  He has been the recipient of many accolades, an Academy Award and a Golden Globe.  In 2010 she was awarded a star on the Hollywood Walk of Fame and has since turned to directing movies.

Ben Hinton - THEN

Charlie's young son Ben attends the prestigious pre-school called Chapman Academy.  It is very expensive and when Charlie loses his job, he cannot afford to keep Ben there.  This is when he decides to set up his own place although he doesn't think it through as he comes across difficulties he never imagined!

Khamani Griffin - NOW

You wouldn't recognise Ben from Daddy day Care if he walked past you in the street!  Its 20 years since Khamani Griffin played the adorable little boy.  Griffin appeared in "Grey's Anatomy", "E R" and "My Name Is Earl."  You may have caught him i Lil Kim's music video "Download."  Khamani starred in the game show "Are You Smarter Than a 5th Grader" up to the finale in 2009.

Marvin - THEN

Marvin can be described as the guy who never grew up!  He loves science fiction and has the open heart of a child.  These qualities make him the perfect choice as a staff member at Daddy Day Care.  They need someone that understands kids and can communicate with them at their level.

Steve Zahn - NOW

Steve Zahn appeared in "Chicken Little" and "Sahara" in 2005, he was in "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" for two years from 2010 and "The Good Dinosaur" in 2015. Zahn played Mark Mossbacher in season one of "The White Lotus" on HBO in 2021 and was nominated for a Primetime Emmy Award for his role.

Kim Hinton - THEN

Mother of Ben Hinton and wife of Charlie Hinton, Kim is the one who brings home the bacon,  She has returned to work as a lawyer after taking time off to rear their young son.  Costs for child care where Ben is looked after are so high so her husband decides to open up his own business to rival that one.  It's not easy, with so much red tape in the way,

Regina King - NOW

Regina King is an actress and director. She has been the recipient of an Academy Award, a Golden Globe and no less than four Primetime Emmy Awards.  She was named as one of the hundred most influential people in "Time" magazine in 2019.  King was in the sitcom "The Big Bang Theory" from 2013 to 2019.

Crispin's Mom - THEN

Crispin's mom, played by Lisa Edelstein, is seen picking up her son from Charlie Hinton's house.  She is also seen signing up Crispin at Daddy Day Care.  Quite self-centered, she asks what time pick up is and when she is told it's 5pm, she says to make it 6pm as she is having laser treatment!

Lisa Edelstein - NOW

Lisa Edelstein is an artist as well as an actress.  She played Dr Lisa Cuddy in the medical drama "House" on Fox from 2004 to 2011.  She also starred in the Bravo series "Girlfriends Guide to Divorce" from 2014 to 2018.  During the AIDS crisis in the 1980s Edelstein wrote and starred in a musical that she, herself, wrote called "Positive Me."

Max - THEN

Max Ryerson is one of the kids who has been signed up to be looked after at Daddy Day Care.  He isn't yet fully potty trained and keeps having accidents in his pants!  Max's father has warned Charlie that he is a "poopy baby."  Charlie is then determined to get the kid potty trained as he can't take much more!

Max Burkholder -NOW

Max Burkholder comes from an actin background.  Both of his parents were actors and he was encouraged to the the same route.  Max appeared in "Parenthood", the comedy drama on NBC.  In 2013 he was in the movie "The Purge" and then took a break.  He was accepted into Harvard in 2021 and runs a comedy account on Instagram called "Max 'n' the Jakey Boys."

Jamie - THEN

Jamie is the blonde little girl at Daddy Day Care.  Her parents are paranoid and protective of their daughter and worry constantly about her.  They slip her a cell phone when no one is looking and tell her to call 911 if there is any sign of trouble at Daddy Day Care!

Elle Fanning - NOW

Elle Fanning has won recognition for her many acting roles, especially J.J. Abrams sci-fi movie "Super 8" where she gained a whole new following, In 2020 she starred as Catherine the Great in "The Great".  This was  period satire series where she was nominated for an Emmy and a Golden Globe.

Jim Fields - THEN

Jim Fields is one of the managers in charge at the cereal company where Charlie and Phil worked.  During a quality control check, Fields is horrified to find whole nuts, still in their shells, in the cereals.  He writes notes on all the issues he has with these two guys and it doesn't make for good reading.

Wallace Langham - NOW

Wallace Langham was in the critically acclaimed "The Social Network and "Little Miss Sunshine."  His big breakthrough was when he was cast as Phil as the head writer for talk show host Larry Sanders in "The Larry Sanders Show."  Langham was in "Veronica's Closet" where he played Kirstie Alley's gay assistant and then starred in the Joan Cusack sitcom "What About Joan?"

Nicky - THEN

Nicky is one of the kids at Daddy Day Care.  He is a bit strange as he is a superfan of Star Trek and insists on speaking Klingon with Marvin.  This was no easy task in real life for actor Arthur Young but he nailed it and his scenes were some of the funniest in the movie.

Arthur Young  NOW

Since Daddy Day Care, Arthur Young had a recurring role in "Alias" and has appeared in several short films including "Crazy Love" in 2005.  As well as acting, Young participates in martial arts, dance and gymnastics.  He has two brothers who choose not to be in the limelight themselves.

Jenny - THEN

Jenny is the former assistant of Miss Harridan.  On one occasion she helps the headmistress ruin the festival that Daddy Day Care have set up to raise funds (Rock For Daddy Day Care Festival.)  This causes Charlie and his staff to temporarily close their premises.

Lacey Chabert - NOW

Lacey Chabert was the voice of Meg Griffin in season one of "Family Guy", as well as voicing superhero Zatanna Zatara from the D.C. Comics. Chabert played the lead in "Mean Girls" as Gretchen Wiener, followed by voicing for a couple of animated Christmas movies in 2008. In total, Lacey has appeared in over 30 Hallmark Channel films.

The Flash/Tony - THEN

Tony likes to be referred to as "The Flash."  He wears a mask and refuses to take it off as he says it gives him superpowers!  That may be why he can run as fast as lightning out of Daddy Day Care and Charlie is for ever having to chase after him which he finds so annoying.

Jimmy Bennett - NOW

Jimmy Bennett played young James T Kirk in "Star Trek" in 2009.  He was also in "No Ordinary Family" where he played J.J. Powell, a teenager who was involved in a plane crash and this resulted in him having a super high level of intelligence.  Bennett has voiced many Disney characters and even released a single entitled "Over Again." He has been nominated five times for Young Artist Awards.

Becca - THEN

Becca's parents sign their daughter up at Daddy Day Care.  Becca wears glasses and has short brown hair.  She cannot read and is a bit weird with her dietary requirement.  All that changes though.  She learns to read and understands even the most complicated words.  Her personality change and she becomes a chatterbox and a mischievous character.

Hailey Noelle Johnson - NOW

Hailey Noelle Johnson appeared in "Surviving Christmas" in 2004 and "Curious George" in 2006.  She is probably most recognized for portraying Tammy in the 2006 movie "Friends with Money."  Johnson has an older sister, Hunter, also an actress who appeared in "Six Feet Under" and "The Division."

Co-Worker Elaine - THEN

The local parents become suspicious when they see Daddy Day Care is being run by men so Charlie goes about finding a female assistant,  Elaine gets the job and more kids are signed up, moving from the other child care facility.  Daddy Day Care is cheaper than Chapmans and more child friendly!

Rachael Harris - NOW

Rachel Harris played Susan Heffley, Greg's mother in the "Diary of a Wimpy Kid" franchise.  She appeared in "Night at the Museum: Secret of the Tomb", playing Madeline Phelps.  Harris is easily recognised as Linda Martin in "Lucifer."  Rachael has also turned her hand to directing.
