Having friends is a great aspect of life, and the majority of people have at least one best friend. However, not every friend is as nice as they may (initially) seem. If a friend has a lack of empathy, it is possible that they don't actually want to be your friend. They don't show genuine genuine concern for your feelings, or well-being.

If your friend is showcasing manipulative behavior, they will use tactics to control and influence you. This form of behavior can present itself in a range of ways, and can vary in severity e.g. influencing you to drink/take drugs, controlling what you do in your free time etc.

Another sign that a friend is actually evil, is constant lying. This means they are consistently dishonest, and are just generally untrustworthy. They may lie about a range of different things, which can range in severity. If they are a compulsive liar, it is likely that they lie about unnecessary details/stories.
