1. Who murdered Tupac Shakur?

The answer to this question has been one of the biggest mysteries since the 25-year-old rapper was killed in 1996. He was shot in the chest at a stoplight, and many believe it was a gang-related shooting, or a setup from a rival rapper. No one has known for certain the identity of his murderer.

2. The recent arrest of Duane Keith Davis

Only in recent weeks has a suspect been arrested in the case: Duane Keith Davis, suspected of organizing the shooting (and murder) of Tupac. He's been brought into custody on charges of "murder with use of a deadly weapon in a gang-related homicide".

3. Davis referenced the date of Tupac's murder specifically in his arrest video

Bodycam footage has revealed what was said between officers and Davis when he was picked up by cops and escorted to a vehicle. When asked what he was being taken for by a different cop, David responds "the biggest case in Las Vegas history... September 7th, 1996."

4. Davis had his home raided by police back in July

This isn't the first time the suspect has tangled with the cops, either. His home was raided a few months ago by a full SWAT team - or, if the video is to believed, by three SWAT teams, according to Davis: "Three SWAT units... There were a bunch of walkie talkies in the house behind me."

5. Duane Keith Davis actually claimed to be in the white Cadillac

The white Cadillac is the car that pulled up beside Tupac at the lights, and the car from which the fatal shots were fired. Davis himself has told authorities before that he was at the scene of the crime, in the Cadillac, on that date, when the shots rang out. But he was never formally charged.

6. He says he was only in the front seat

According to Davis, though, while he was seated in the white Cadillac, he wasn't actually the shooter. His story is that he was seated in the front, and that the shots rang out from the back seat - meaning he's claiming the shooter was someone else in the back of the car.

7. Davis is believed to be the "ringleader"

Cops have suspected Duane Keith Davis to be the alleged "ringleader" of the people - and plot - responsible for killing Tupac. It's believed that it all started because Davis's nephew was attacked as a result of conflict between two gangs in Compton, California, and eventually led to Tupac's murder.

8. Davis is officially part of a well-known gang

Also known as Keefe D, Davis is actually an official member of the gang known as the South Side Compton Crips, hailing from California. Their reputation spreads internationally, and their members are known to be African-Americans linked to high profile murders.

What needs to be understood now is whether Davis was actually the one who killed Tupac by pulling the trigger, whether he was just involved with the gang members responsible for the killing, or whether he orchestrated the Crips to take out Tupac - without being directly involved himself.

Although Davis wasn't officially charged as a suspect until September 29, the shocking fact is that he's been talking for a very long time about his involvement, and the news of his arrest isn't surprise to many seeing as he's been well-known for quite a while in relation to the murder.

Rather than keeping a low profile as a known gang member and suspect, Davis has been open through the years, and even went so far as to write a memoir discussing his life. Even in the memoir, Davis admitted - in printed, published word - that he was in the car that killed Tupac.

12. It's alleged that Davis's nephew was the one who pulled the trigger

While Davis is believed to have been directly involved, but claims he was only sat in the front seat, it's actually his own nephew believed to have been the gunman who pulled the trigger. Known as Orlando "Baby Lane" Anderson, it's alleged he was in the back of the car - but he died himself in 1998.

13. Davis first spoke about his involvement in 2008

Keefe D spoke with Los Angeles police back in 2008 for the first time regarding his involvement with the Tupac murder, in exchange for immunity in a PCP drug ring case. This confession then continued to be talked about and republished in different outlets, even though nothing officially came of it.

14. His confession was spoken about in books and TV shows

Davis's 2008 confession about his involvement was even printed in the book Murder Rap, released in 2011, by Greg Kading, who had been a former detective on the case. Not only that, Davis was included on the 2018 Netflix show 'Unsolved', that discussed the Tupac murder.

15. Davis even named the type of gun used

Davis even gave very specific details from the scene of the crime - including the exact murder weapon. He explained that the gun used was taken from a secret compartment in the armrest of the car, and that it had been a Glock .40, used and fired by his nephew to fatally shoot Shakur.

When he spoke to police, Davis explained that his nephew shot Tupac because of the side Tupac's car was on - he claimed if Tupac had been on his side, he would have been the one to pull the trigger instead. Which makes you think how things could have been different if Tupac had simply driven a completely different way, too..

17. Davis even accused rapper P Diddy: Sean Combs

It was also claimed by Duane Keith Davis that another rapper - still famous and active today, P Diddy - was the one who ordered the hit on Tupac. P Diddy has denied any involvement, as did B.I.G, who was also accused of being involved alongside Diddy. Sean Combs denies all accusations from Davis.

18. Davis claimed he asked for $1 million to kill Tupac

Leading on from the accusations against Diddy, Davis claimed that he met both Diddy and B.I.G at a deli, where he set the terms at $1 million to kill both Tupac, and another man named Sage Knight, a famous record executive and now convicted felon. He went on to say they never got their payment after Tupac's murder.

19. Duane Keith Davis maintains he's the only one alive who can tell the truth about the murder

Davis has made it clear that he's the only one the cops can speak to if they want any details about the murder - and that he's the only person still alive who can explain what really happened - whether that's true or not, and what he's claiming is actually what happened, is yet to be proven.

20. Davis speaks about his cancer diagnosis

The main reason that Davis has been so willing to speak about the truth of the murder is down to his health - Davis has told cops that he's been diagnosed with cancer, and now has nothing left to lose in discussing what really happened to Tupac, and any consequences for the truth.

21. If Tupac hadn't looked out of the car window, he might still be alive

Another detail that Davis claimed was that they only spotted Tupac driving away after he had stuck his head out of the car window. Davis, along with other gang members, had been waiting outside of a club, but wouldn't have known Tupac was in the car if he hadn't had stuck his head out of the window after some people called his name.

22. Davis won't officially say the names of those involved

According to Davis's story, he was in the car that was responsible for Tupac's murder, but he wasn't the one to pull the trigger - and despite his forthcomingness with the details of what happened, he refuses to actually say the name of the other people in the car because of "code of the streets".

23. He claims that Tupac's death was just "collateral damage"

Rather than the murder of Tupac being a personal, direct hit, Davis has claimed that the rapper was merely "collateral damage" as part of a bigger situation. He's directly written about the violence with his nephew being attacked, and how it was merely gang retaliation.

When the white Cadillac pulled up beside the rapper's car in Las Vegas, he was hit four times by bullets fired. The shots didn't kill Tupac instantly, and he later died from his wounds. He's since become the subject of conspiracy theories, including the idea that he could still be alive.

25. In his dying moments, he was more concerned with the safety of others

Marion Knight was driving the car Tupac was in at the time of the shooting, and he managed to turn the car around and pull over. At this point, a friend of Tupac's who had been in another car rushed over and Tupac was more concerned with his friend getting to safety than tending to his wounds.

Davis's first court appearance was at the beginning of October, but at the time, the judge decided to delay his arraignment for two weeks, so at this point the 60-year-old suspect didn't get to declare whether he was guilty or not guilty. The delay was down to Davis's defence attorney needing two weeks to prepare.
