About 150 firefighters are battling a major blaze at a warehouse in Southall, west London, after reports of explosions were heard in the area.

The London Fire Brigade was called to the scene on Bridge Road at approximately 8:55 a.m. on Tuesday, where a two-storey warehouse and adjoining retail space had caught fire.

Crews from Southall, Heston and Ealing were among those dispatched, with 25 fire engines now on site. Roughly three quarters of the building is currently alight.

The incident was described by fire officials as "protracted," with teams expected to remain at the location throughout the day. Residents nearby have been urged to keep doors and windows shut due to the heavy smoke drifting through the area.

Transport in and around Southall is also likely to face disruption as emergency services continue their response. The cause of the fire has not yet been determined.
