The Heartbreaking Story of Katie Price’s Blind and Autistic Son Harvey

Born with multiple complex disabilities, his journey has been marked by love, loss, and resilience. Now, readers can revisit his story, complete with heartfelt photos through the years waiting at the end of the article.

For years, Katie Price's son, Harvey Price, has quietly battled a life shaped by complex disabilities, fractured family ties, and emotional upheaval.

While attention has recently turned to his younger sister, Princess Andre, and her onscreen bond with her parents, Harvey's experience offers a sobering reminder of what's been lost and what continues to weigh heavily on both him and his mother.

Katie met her ex, Peter Andre, in 2004 during their stint on "I'm a Celebrity...Get Me Out of Here!" in Australia. Their relationship quickly blossomed, and Peter stepped into the role of a father figure for Harvey, who was just two years old at the time.

The gesture meant the world to Katie, particularly after Harvey's biological father, former footballer Dwight Yorke, denied paternity until a DNA test proved otherwise. However, even then, his involvement remained minimal.

Peter once said Harvey had "taught him to be a father," and Harvey affectionately called him "Dad." But when the marriage broke down, so too did their bond. Today, Harvey is believed to have no relationship with Peter.

Now 23, Harvey lives in residential care in Southampton, far from the home he once shared with Katie. His stay there came after another college placement failed to meet his needs.

The transition has been anything but smooth. Harvey, who has Prader-Willi syndrome, autism, septo-optic dysplasia, ADHD, a learning disability, and a cortisol deficiency, has struggled to adjust — a reality Katie recently laid bare.

During a candid podcast appearance, she explained that Harvey had found it distressing to leave her home for temporary accommodation in Littlehampton.

The emotional toll was apparent. He reportedly smashed her bedroom furniture and destroyed his iPad in frustration before his departure. At the accommodation, he popped out reinforced windows and broke yet another iPad.

When staff asked him what was wrong, he simply said he wanted his mum. The pair are now waiting for Harvey's new supported housing to be completed just down the road from Katie's house — a move she hopes will bring some stability.

Earlier this year, she also spoke about helping him manage his weight, which had reached nearly 30 stone due to the effects of Prader-Willi syndrome. The condition causes an insatiable appetite and makes weight management an ongoing challenge.

Katie has long been her son's loudest advocate. In 2021, she released the BBC documentary "Harvey and Me," offering a raw glimpse into their life. Her public campaigning didn't stop there.

Over the years, she has spoken out in Parliament about the online abuse Harvey has faced, calling for stronger protections. Her proposed legislation, dubbed Harvey's Law, aimed to make online trolling a specific criminal offence and garnered cross-party support.

But Harvey's early years were not only shaped by his health but by his complicated family dynamic. Katie and Dwight's brief romance in 2001 ended before Harvey was born.

Katie said the former footballer showed up at the hospital but refused to enter the delivery room. She added that after making an insensitive comment about a bruise on the newborn, that was "sort of" the last time she saw him.

The silence continued. Katie later revealed that Dwight had only seen his son nine times in his entire life. But, despite everything, Harvey has remained a bright and endearing personality.

He went viral at 13 after an unscripted moment on "This Morning," and since then, his humorous and loving nature has gained him a devoted online following. Yet, even his most heartwarming moments are tinged with pain — particularly his longing for family and home.

Netizens were quick to respond after Katie spoke about Harvey's latest struggles, with many expressing empathy for both mother and son.

"I think this must have been one of the hardest things she had ever had to do but she does need rest bit and to recover herself [sic]," one person began.

"Alot of parents with additional needs children struggle in silence and she has been struggling herself while catering for Harvey's needs the best she can. I hope that this break gives them both some rest bite and time to recoop [sic]," they added.

Another shared, "Being a dad to a 11 year old son who is autistic is hard. Every day is a struggle ..For the whole family.is a challenge Saddened me that there so much negativity. Who feels know ls knows. Big up Katie do your thing and keep on going [sic]."

Several echoed praise for Katie's devotion, writing, "The one thing you can't takeaway from her is she loves that lad and does all she can for him."

Others offered differing views, questioning whether Harvey might benefit from more consistent professional support.

"He would be better off in residential care full time, then he would have a stable clean home, better controlled diet , and routine [sic]," one person remarked.

Another sympathised with Harvey's emotional distress, typing, "He misses his mum and don't understand why he can't be with her love Harvey [sic]." One commenter took a broader view, pointing to gaps in care and the emotional toll on Katie herself.

"I feel very sorry for Harvey because he's supposed to have 24/7 care but it dont seem to be happening. I really think that Katie needs help for her mental health and the sooner the better [sic]," they shared.

Harvey's story is one of resilience — his own and his mother's. Through public scrutiny, medical complexity, and family estrangement, Katie Price has remained by her son's side.

Yet, as Harvey navigates another turbulent chapter, the hope remains that the stability he craves — a home near his mum, a consistent routine, and the comfort of familiarity — is finally within reach.
