Danniella Westbrook’s Turbulent Love Life: Failed Marriages, Scandals And High-Profile Romances
She has rebuilt her face, battled her demons, and bared her soul to the world. But as she returns to the spotlight following her latest surgery, it is not only her changing appearance that has reignited public fascination.
For more than three decades, Danniella Westbrook's love life has unfolded like a relentless soap opera — full of dizzying highs, heartbreaking betrayals, rushed vows, prison proposals, and very public meltdowns. Each new romance seemed to promise salvation. Few delivered peace.

From Britpop glory days to whirlwind weddings and explosive splits splashed across front pages, Westbrook’s relationships have rarely been quiet. They have been loud, emotional, and painfully exposed.
Here is a closer look at the high-profile romances that shaped her story, how they began, what they meant at the time, and how they ultimately fell apart.
They were young, famous, and constantly watched. In the early 1990s, Westbrook began dating Brian Harvey, frontman of East 17.

From 1991 to 1995, their romance played out at the height of Britpop fame, with the band selling millions of records. Together, they became one of pop’s most talked-about couples.
But behind the glossy magazine spreads and screaming fans, pressure was mounting.

In the BBC documentary "Boybands Forever," Westbrook said the spotlight strained their relationship. She revealed Harvey’s manager, Tom Watkins, warned her to leave, telling her it “wouldn’t end well” because he “always wins.”
Despite that warning, she insisted they were in love and trying to make it work. She said:
“It went from being happy and being in love to everything being so stressful."

“I think it was inevitable that we were going to split which subsequently sent me over the edge. I made myself really ill. I took more and more drugs, I'd had enough. I was broken.” She recalled.
The breakup marked more than the end of a romance. It signaled the beginning of a very public spiral. Westbrook has since spoken candidly about her cocaine addiction and its devastating consequences, a battle that would cast a long, dark shadow over the years that followed.

Although the pair later appeared on friendly terms, even reuniting in 2015 to campaign against child abuse, their names resurfaced in March 2021 when Harvey posted videos online making serious allegations about her. Westbrook fired back on Instagram, accusing him of “slandering” her and branding him a “paranoid coke freak.”

After Harvey, Westbrook entered a relationship with Robert Fernandez, the father of her first child.
On November 23, 1996, she gave birth to their son, Kai Jordan Westbrook, aged 23 at the time. Motherhood brought a new sense of purpose. But it unfolded during one of the darkest periods of her life.

Years later, Kai offered a haunting glimpse into what growing up during his mother’s addiction looked like behind closed doors. He recalled discovering her seriously unwell after an overdose when he was just four years old.
“When I was little, I found Mum having a fit after an overdose and the memory is vivid,” he said in 2016, adding:
“I still have flashbacks. I’ve been scared Mum would die so many times.”

He later added, after learning she had taken cocaine while pregnant, “It’s shocking. It hasn't affected me. It’s a miracle. I like to forgive, everyone deserves another chance.”
His words laid bare the emotional toll behind the headlines, the fear, the trauma, and the uncertainty that addiction brought into their home.
In 1998, Westbrook and Fernandez were involved in a serious car accident. She was reportedly flung through the windscreen, suffering severe facial injuries that required surgery. The crash left both physical and emotional scars.

The relationship ended, but motherhood remained her constant anchor, even as stability continued to elude her.
Just months after the crash, Westbrook made another dramatic decision.
In October 1998, she married van driver Ben Morgan, only eight weeks after meeting him at a petrol station.

“It was a really bad thing and to me it's really embarrassing,” she later admitted. “I knew he was the wrong person, I knew I didn't want to marry him, but I was so anxious for Kai, and desperate to get away from the people I was mixing with.”
The marriage seemed to represent escape, a frantic bid for normality far from the chaos that had engulfed her life.
They attempted a fresh start in Australia. But by July 1999, it was over.

The breakup turned brutally public when Morgan and his mother sold their story to the News of the World, which ran it under the headline “Danniella pawns hoover to buy cocaine.”
It was another intensely personal humiliation splashed across newsstands, another attempt at reinvention reduced to scandal.
For a time, it appeared she had finally found lasting security.
On December 27, 2001, Westbrook married millionaire businessman Kevin Jenkins at the Conrad Hotel in Chelsea Harbour. The wedding came just months after the birth of their daughter Jodie in September 2001.

Unlike her previous relationships, this one endured. For 13 years, it was the longest partnership of her adult life, a chapter that seemed to offer the stability she had long craved.
But in 2014, it ended.
Years later, in September 2023, Westbrook publicly accused Jenkins of infidelity while promoting a planned tell-all book. She claimed he had married “a woman he had an affair with throughout our marriage” and said the breakdown of their relationship led to a relapse.
“So my new book will be a true strong story of a life marriage and family torn apart by more than what was reported in the press,” she wrote. “I will no longer be the keeper of anyone's secrets.”

The collapse of her longest marriage carried particular weight. In 2019, she publicly asked him to finalise their divorce, saying she wanted only “the paper signed”.
What once looked like her long-awaited happy ending fractured, and by her own account, reopened old wounds she had fought for years to heal.
In summer 2017, Westbrook announced her engagement to Alan Thomason, 34, and revealed she was pregnant.

At 43, she told TV show host Lorraine Kelly she was “pretty excited” and even speculated she could be expecting twins.
“Who wouldn’t be happy? Have you seen my fella?” she said. “I’ve found the man who can tame me. I don’t argue with him, I listen. I’ve found the one.”

The optimism was unmistakable.
Yet within weeks, cracks were visible. During a trip to Benidorm in September 2017, she was photographed partying without Thomason. Holidaymakers alleged she appeared “out of it” and was seen kissing a 25-year-old man, who later claimed he did not know she was engaged or pregnant. Her representatives declined to comment.
Soon after, Westbrook posted a cryptic tweet noting that she did not know him at all.
The engagement ended.
Another chapter that began with certainty dissolved under intense public scrutiny.
Westbrook has said she met David while they were both living in Spain. In April 2022, she described their relationship as “tumultuous” and on and off for years.
According to Westbrook, David was sent to prison in early 2019 and given a sentence of nine years and nine months for offences relating to counterfeit goods and an affray.

She said he asked her to marry him many times, including during a jail visit, though she wanted to wait until his release. Wedding plans were discussed publicly, including talk of marrying abroad.
In July 2023, reports claimed Westbrook had split from her jailed fiancé months before his expected release. A friend quoted in coverage said she was heartbroken and that as his release approached, “the more the cracks are showing.”
It was yet another relationship filled with promises of permanence, and yet another that ended before she could walk down the aisle.

Now, as Westbrook steps back into the spotlight following her latest surgery, attention has once again turned to the decades of very public highs and lows that accompanied her transformation.
From teenage pop stardom to rushed weddings, tabloid betrayals, and prison proposals, each relationship carried hope of something steadier. Instead, many unraveled under the same unforgiving glare in which they began.

For more than 30 years, her private life has rarely remained private, lived not only in real time, but in headlines that continue to resurface long after the romances themselves have ended.
