During a November 2025 stop on the "Megyn Kelly Live" tour, Erika reflected on the bond between her late husband and Donald. She said:

"Charlie and President Trump had a really special relationship. It was one that some people would understand, others wouldn't."

Erika also recalled her husband's loyalty during politically turbulent moments: "He admired so much the president's tenacity to keep going, especially after January 6, when no one wanted anything to do with him. And Charlie said, 'I got your back.' And he meant it."

"And the president has always had a very soft spot in my heart because I got to witness that he wasn't just the president to my husband. He was a friend, and I'll never forget that."

On Valentine's Day 2026, Erika shared a deeply personal tribute to Charlie on Instagram.

In a heartfelt post, she wrote, "What I would give for one more love letter…" She reflected on the handwritten notes he once gave her, describing them as words that felt "sacred filled with a depth of love both of us could never quite articulate."
