She's one of the most recognisable voices on the planet — but when it comes to her personal life, Adele guards it with everything she has.
So when the "Hello" singer was recently spotted stepping out in Beverly Hills with her 13-year-old son Angelo by her side, the internet had a lot to say. The mother-son duo was photographed leaving South Beverly Grill in Beverly Hills, and the rare sighting sent fans into a frenzy.
Angelo, whose face has been obscured in the image — waiting for you below — appeared relaxed and casual beside his mum as the pair made their way out of the upscale eatery together.
In the photo, Adele cuts a cool, understated figure in wide-leg dark wash denim jeans, a fitted black T-shirt, and a sleek black button-up jacket layered over the top. She completed her look with black ballet flats and a black face mask, with her signature blonde waves swept back and blue-tinted sunglasses perched on top of her head.
Angelo, walking just beside her, kept things equally laid-back in grey sweatpants and a dark brown T-shirt — every inch the relaxed teenager out for a meal with his mum. Fans who caught wind of the sighting were visibly shaken by just how much Angelo has grown.
"Omg he's grown up," one person gasped. "Wait i thought he was like a little kid😭 [sic]," another admitted, clearly caught off guard. A third couldn't quite process it either, exclaiming, "Her son no longer a toddler???? since when? [sic]"
It's a reaction that's entirely understandable, given how deliberately Adele has kept Angelo away from the public eye over the years. The singer, who shares her son with ex-husband Simon Konecki, has long made it clear that her boy comes before everything else — including her music career.
Back in 2015, during a candid appearance on the "Today" show to promote her landmark album "25", Adele opened up about just how central Angelo is to her life. When host Matt Lauer raised the question of whether her son would see less of her given the album's enormous success, she was characteristically straightforward.
"My son comes everywhere with me, we're all good, like we're tight," she said warmly. "He's the first person I see in the morning and the last person that I see at night and vice versa so we're all good. I make time for him."
She also shed light on why the gap between "21" and "25" had stretched to four years. Rather than a creative block, it was a conscious choice rooted in motherhood. "I was like no, my kid is more important and my kid comes first and my music comes second and I come second," she explained plainly.
In a separate conversation with Oprah Winfrey, Adele revealed something that surprised many — at the time, Angelo had never even watched his mother perform live to a real audience, only sitting in during rehearsals at empty venues.
He had, however, been taken to see Taylor Swift perform. As for whether he fully understood the scale of his mother's fame, Adele said he was only just beginning to grasp it.
The comments that followed that revelation were overwhelmingly warm. "Wow she completely preserved the kids childhood. Just him n her👑 [sic]," one viewer marvelled.
"Because to him, she's not ADELE, she's just mommy," another reflected tenderly. "She is so real and done to earth. She does not brag or show off," a third added admiringly.
It's a portrait of a superstar who, despite the sold-out stadiums and record-breaking albums, has always known exactly where her priorities lie.
