David Beckham Is Knighted by King Charles for His Services to Sport and to Charity
By virtue of the former professional soccer player's new status, his fashionista wife now has a new title as well.
On November 4, 2025, Soccer icon and business mogul David Beckham was knighted by King Charles III at Windsor Castle. The prestigious ceremony, which was spotlighted online by the royal family, David, and his wife, fashion powerhouse Victoria Beckham, has prompted a wave of commentary.
While some netizens celebrated the moment and commended David, others focused on the interaction between the King and the star.

Clad in a sharply tailored suit with a charcoal waistcoat and tie, David exuded both elegance and humility as he stepped into the castle to receive the honor of knighthood. By his side, Victoria stunned in a fitted deep navy dress paired with pointed heels and a dramatic black fascinator veil — a look both regal and fashion-forward.

In footage shared by TMZ and the royal family's official Instagram page, David is seen kneeling before King Charles III, who dons full regalia, in a gilded room as the monarch formally bestows the title, gently tapping his shoulders with a ceremonial sword before draping a medal around his neck. The two men exchange a few words, smiling as they stand face to face, before David offers a respectful bow.
Moments later, he exits hand-in-hand with Victoria, the pair emerging into the sunlight for photos outside the castle walls. Beaming, David proudly displays his medal for the cameras, flanked by his wife and later joined by his parents, Ted and Sandra Beckham, who were also in attendance.
The royal family's caption for the moment captured the gravity of the event simply — "Arise, Sir David Beckham. ✨ This morning at Windsor Castle, The King [sic] presented Sir David Beckham with a Knighthood for Services to Sport and to Charity.”

As clips of the investiture made their rounds online, reactions from viewers poured in — ranging from heartfelt applause to curiosity and even mild confusion. Admirers of the soccer star were quick to celebrate the moment, with one person praising, "This is awesome! Congrats sir [sic]!" while another opined, "he [sic] deserves it."
A third added, "congratulations to him. that convo looks awkward [sic]," reflecting both admiration and a subtle observation of the brief post-knighting exchange between David and the monarch.

However, not all commentary was celebratory. "he didn't even shake his hand?" questioned one spectator, while another penned, "so [sic] he is not supposed to shake his hand." A more blunt remark followed, "You don't shake the King's hand, you are beneath him!"
Others fixated not on the footballer but on the King. "The king looks so happy x" remarked one viewer, offering a cheerful take. Meanwhile, another comment read, "What is going on with King Charles's eyes?! 😳😳😳😳."

In the wake of the online buzz, David offered his own voice to the moment — one deeply rooted in gratitude, humility, and love. Taking to Instagram, the newly minted knight shared a striking image from inside Windsor Castle, capturing the moment King Charles III touched his shoulders with the ceremonial sword.
Alongside the photo, David penned an emotional tribute that gave fans a rare and vulnerable glimpse into his heart.

"I am truly humbled and so grateful for this honour. I have been fortunate to represent our country and [sic] I've always done that with pride... I love our Royal Family and what it means to people not just in Great Britain but around the world."

He went on to reflect on the journey that brought him to this moment, naming the many teams he's played for — from Ridgeway Rovers to Manchester United and Real Madrid — and honoring the teammates, managers, and fans who helped shape his storied career.
"Football gave me everything," he wrote, before turning to the impact of his global platform. "Travel opened my eyes to issues facing children around the world [...] I've also been proud to work with our Armed forces [sic] who sacrifice so much for us all."

But it was David's words about his family that resonated most. In heartfelt lines that captured the emotional core of his message, he expressed, "All I have ever wanted to do is to make my family proud [...] My beautiful wife who has been by my side for the last 28 years, who has been my biggest supporter and my shoulder to cry on in tough times….without her I wouldn't have had the life I have had [sic]."
He also honored his parents, grandparents, and children, calling his and Victoria's kids their "greatest joy in life" and his inspiration.

Ending on a note of disbelief and affection, he signed off with a nod to his closest loved ones, "Finally Mum, Dad, Victoria and to my Kiddies can you believe this…I love you all so much and Thank You ❤️ @theroyalfamily [sic]."
Victoria also took to Instagram to honor her husband's milestone, sharing a curated selection of behind-the-scenes portraits from the day — including group shots with their children and David's parents, as well as a striking image of the couple posed outside Windsor Castle.

Alongside the photos, she penned a touching message that reflected both admiration and enduring love. "David, from the moment I met you 28 years ago, you've always been so proud to represent your country. Whether on or off the pitch, no one loves England or respects our Royal Family more, so to see you honoured by The King today is something I'll forever cherish," she swooned.

Victoria continued, "You've achieved so much, and yet you're still the same kind, humble, hardworking man I met nearly 30 years ago, as well as the most amazing husband and father. I've never felt prouder than I do today. Sir @davidbeckham, we all love you so much xxx."
With David's new knighthood comes a formal change in title — not just for him, but for his wife as well. The former Manchester United star will now be officially recognized as Sir David Beckham, and Victoria, in turn, assumes the title of Lady Beckham.
Traditionally, this designation is bestowed upon the wife of a man who has been knighted, and while adopting it is optional, the style icon has chosen to embrace the title with pride.
Henceforth, Victoria Beckham will be referred to as Lady Beckham — a nod not only to her husband's achievements, but to the steadfast presence she's maintained by his side through nearly three decades of love, legacy, and loyalty.
