A particularly blunt commenter wrote, "What the [expletive] happened to Mandy Moore? Is it even the same person? Literally a few months apart," referencing her appearance at the Fashion Trust US Awards, back in April.

Amid the criticism, many people took to Facebook to defend the actress."Everyone is always slamming on woman's [sic] looks. I think she looks beautiful and happy," someone wrote.

Another kept it short and sweet, writing, "She is gorgeous in both so who cares?"

Despite the noise, Moore appeared relaxed and radiant at the event, which featured brand lounges and appearances by mentors and participants from the Step Up program. The dress code was described as "luncheon chic – especially in unstoppable shades of sunshine, pale turquoise, cream, and navy."

Moore has lived under public scrutiny for most of her life. Long before the cameras fixated on her appearance, she was known for both her voice and screen presence.

She discovered her passion for music after watching "Oklahoma!" as a child, and later performed the national anthem at various events.

Her big break came when she was just 14, after being discovered while recording in a studio. At 15, she released her debut album, "So Real," which featured "Candy." She later even toured with the Backstreet Boys.

From there, Moore added a string of acting credits to her name, starring in films like "Try Seventeen," "How to Deal," "Chasing Liberty," "Racing Stripes," and "Because I Said So." She also had smaller roles in beloved movies like "The Princess Diaries." In 2010, she lent her voice to Rapunzel in Disney’s "Tangled."

Most recently, Moore is best known for her Emmy-nominated role in the smash hit "This Is Us," appearing alongside Milo Ventimiglia, Sterling K. Brown, Chrissy Metz, and Justin Hartley.

She also appeared in several episodes of "Dr. Death" and, according to IMDb, has more projects on the horizon.
