1. Actual board games Operation and Twister in Andy's room

Image source Disney/PixarAndy's room has plenty of easily recognizable real life toys and games.  Looking at this clip, on his shelves and stacked under the bed, you can spy Twister, Candy Land, Operation, Mouse Trap and Ants in the Pants.  Seeing these, it makes Toy Story seem so real!

2. The animated toys look like their real-life counterparts

Image source Disney/PixarEach toy in the movie is designed to look like it's made from the same fabric as it would on a human person.  As an example, Mr Potato Head's plastic body appears textured and rough and Woody's clothes look soft and a bit worn.  Slinky Dog's spring is metallic and shiny, very authentic.

3. Andy spelled some words wrong on his DIY toy set

Image source Disney/PixarAndy uses self-decorated pieces of cardboard as buildings when he's playing with his toys at the beginning of the movie.  What makes it look authentic is that some words are spelt correctly, whereas others are misspelt - just like a real kid.  Andy uses 'skool', ''generil' and 'bzillion which are just a bit off the mark!

4. Some of the books in Andy's room have hidden meanings

The bookshelf in Andy's room is full of legible titles.  When Woody walks by the shelf, viewers get a good close-up at the made-up books.  There's 'Feet First'. 'Help the Planet', and 'Pale Cowboy from Texas and they are next to a copy of an accurate title of 'Grimm's Fairy Tales' - a book many of us read ourselves as kids.

5. Andy wears a shirt with a cowboy on it at the start of the movie

When he plays with Woody before his birthday party, he's even wearing a red cowboy hat and a cowboy image on his t-shirt. Like Jessie, from 'Toy Story 2,' the t-shirt character seems to be a yodelling cowboy.

6. The toys have accurate reflections and shadows

7. Some toys feature real-life logos and brand names

8. Mr. Potato Head makes a rude joke about Slinky Dog

Slinky always sides with Woody during the toy meetings. so when he agrees with something the cowboy says just before the birthday party, Mr. Potato Head takes off his lips and moves them toward his bottom, to indicate that Slinky is kissing up to Woody.  How real is this?

9. Hamm doesn't understand an art reference that Mr. Potato Head makes

10. The plant that the green Army men hide in has a care tag

Forest Fantasy doesn't appear to be a real nursery but the tag shows realistic and clear instructions for handling the looking after the plant.

11. The gift box Buzz Lightyear arrives in has on-theme wrapping paper

The package containing Buzz Lightyear is the final present that Andy opens at his birthday party. When the soldiers look through their binoculars at their gift,, viewers can see that the gift box is covered in Buzz Lightyear wrapping paper - very appropriate!

12. Andy has a Mickey Mouse clock on his wall
