Often, one of the creepiest things related to serial killer's lives is how normal they seem.And looking at these shots from inside Dahmer's notorious apartment, it's chilling just how normal his life appears, with everyday decor, a fish tank (and the fact he cared for fish as pets) as well as houseplants, artwork and curtains. You wouldn't think twice about this being an inviting living room.

2. Dahmer Killed 17 People In This Apartment

 Dahmer lived in this apartment for 2 years, the site he would use to commit his heinous acts. There were multiple complaints of strange smells and noises coming from his apartment (and it makes your skin crawl to think of being one of his neighbors).But Dahmer was never originally reported to the police. Discovered in this apartment after his arrest included human skulls, human hearts and other mutilated body parts, as well as photo evidence of Dahmer's various victims. The apartment complex has since been torn down (understandably).But Dahmar's desire for murder began before moved into his apartment; he actually committed murder at his family home in Ohio. Dahmer's childhood home had even received an award in the local newspaper for its modern design, and is still standing, placed on the market for sale in 2014.Dahmer had picked up a hitchhiker and taken him to this home only to murder him. This would be the beginning of Dahmer's serial killing which he would later take to his own apartment. There's no information on who lives in the home now, or whether there is any chilling atmosphere to the property...

4. The Green River Killer's House

The home was where Gary Ridgway lived during the time of the murders, and was also the home police tore apart in their search...They were searching for evidence and clues against the Green River Killer; Ridgeway murdered women before weighing them down with rocks and dumping their bodies in the Green River. The number of women he'd murdered was at least 49, all committed in that house and a few other accommodations nearby.

5. The Cleveland Strangler's Home From Hell

 Image Source: CBS News The Cleveland Strangler Anthony Sowell was an American serial killer who murdered 11 women and stored their bodies in his home. The home in question where Anthony lived was located next door to a sausage plant. It was this plant that was the reason Sowell was able to get away with his horrific crimes for so long.Because, in fact, Sowell's neighbours actually noticed a strange smell, but presumed it was the factory causing it, and not the 11 decaying corpses stored in Sowell's home. Sowell actually lived in this horror house with his mother before she passed away.

6. Sowell Stored 11 Corpses In His Home

In response to the strange smells, he even blamed some of them on his mother - and not on his horrific crimes. The hell house is no longer standing, as it was torn down in 2011...The house was demolished two years after Sowell was arrested and convicted for the murder of 11 women. Some serial killer propaganda fanatics actually stole soil samples from the yard of the home, which they later sold online. Sowell later died in prison from a terminal illness.

7. Sowell Hid Bodies In Various Crawl Spaces

The amount of evidence found inside Sowell's home warranted over 4,500 photographs needing to be taken. There were shallow graves in the basement where Sowell had buried decomposing bodies......as well as storing other bodies in the home's various crawl spaces. Not only that, but two dead bodies were found in the living room, out in the open, lying next to a shovel. No doubt Sowell had been planning on using that shovel to bury them before he was caught.

8. Serial Killer Maury Travis's House

The house in Ferguson, where he committed the horrific crimes, is still standing today. It is actually owned by Travis's mother - who also rents it out...WITHOUT disclosing its awful past. That past includes Travis making videos as he actually committed the murders, as well as prison-like cells found in his basement. He would trap as well as torture women there, before breaking their necks or hanging them from the rafters.

9. The Ranch Home Of Charles Manson And His Followers

10. The Helter Skelter Murders

The murders, also known as the 'Tate Murders', occurred when actress Sharon Tate was brutally murdered by followers of cult leader Charles Manson in 1969. She had been eight months pregnant at the time. Two more people were murdered a day or two later.Manson and four of his followers were convicted of the murders in 1971. The buildings on the ranch property where Manson conspired with his followers actually burned down in the 1970s. They were never restored. The land that the ranch was originally on is now part of Santa Susana Pass State Historic Park.

11. Dennis Nilson's Apartment

The manner of his horrific crimes consisted of Nilsen hacking them into pieces before he then disposed of them.The London apartment which was the site of his unforgivable crimes was where Nilson - the serial murdered and necrofile - stuffed body parts and human evidence down the drains. Nilson murdered at least 12 young men and boys. His later murders were continued in the London district of Muswell Hill.

12. Nilson Boiled His Victim's Heads In His Kitchen

He would lure victims to his homes by deceiving them, and then proceeded to strangle them - sometimes coupled with drowning.After each murder, Nilson would engage in a creepy ritual where he bathed and dressed the victims body. He would then keep the body for long periods of time before dismembering it and either flushing the remains down the toilet or burning them in a bonfire.

13. A Couple Are Now Happily Living In The London Apartment Where Nilson Stored His Victims

 Image Source: The SunMost people would definitely not want to live in a house or flat with such a gruesome history, especially knowing dismembered human parts were flushed down the drain - and neither would you think such a horrific place would be left standing whatsoever -But the apartment still exists and was bought by a couple who "love" their home and apparently never think about or dwell on what happened there. The couple completely renovated the flat after buying it in order to transform it into their dream home.

14. The House Of Nathaniel White

The abandoned house which Nathaniel possibly also lived in was since abandoned after he caught, and has now allegedly been set on fire and burnt to the ground.White admitted that he had murdered six women, and two of their bodies were found in this property. Nathaniel White actually had a girlfriend during the time of his murder spree, and one of his unfortunate victims was actually the 24-year-old niece of his girlfriend. He used the house to dispose of all of his victims.

15. White Confessed To Beating And Stabbing Five Women

His first kill was March 1991...... and he had been convicted of abducting a 16-year-old girl previously. But Nathaniel White was actually released on parole after being prosecuted for the abduction, leading him to go on and kill five women, one of which was his girlfriend's niece.

16. Fred And Rose West's House Of Horrors

Their first victim was 19-year-old Lynda Gough, an acquaintance of the couple who had relationships with male lodgers sharing the house on Cromwell Street. She actually moved into the home.After murdering her, Fred and Rose West told the other tenants that Lynda had left. Gough's body was later found dismembered and buried in an inspection pit beneath the garage of the house. She was found with her jaw wrapped in adhesive and surgical tape, to silence her screams.

17. Fred West Carved Holes Into The Cellar's Wooden Beams To Suspend Victims

 Image Source: The SunWith Gough's remains was also found pieces of string and knotted fabric, meaning it was likely she'd been tied up and suspended from the beams that Fred had altered to suspend his victims' bodies. She likely died of suffocation or from strangulation.When her dismembered body was found, it was missing five vertebrae, a knee bone and more than one finger bone. Police later discovered that all other victims had been killed and dismembered in the cellar of the Cromwell Street house, with a total of five victims.

18. Fred West Later Concreted Over The Door To The Cellar

He then converted this section of the house into a bedroom for his children. Due to the cellar now being concreted over...Their next victim, 18-year-old lodger Shirley Robinson, was buried in the garden of the Cromwell Street house instead. The body, like the others, had been severely dismembered. The couple covered up the young woman's disappearance by claiming that she had moved out of the home to relocate to Germany.

19. Ted Bundy's House Has Become A Tourist Attraction

The only problem is that someone is actually living in the house - and it's not officially open to the public!The house where Bundy lived while committing his crimes is in Salt Lake City, Utah. The house includes a fire escape which Bundy used to sneak in and out. Tourists flock to take photos of the outside, as well as looking around the grounds to try and get photos of the fire escape and other features.

20. The Infamous Bundy Cellar

For someone like Bundy with a high number of victims and constantly on the go, it would make sense for him to have a secluded place to constantly travel to...A place he could be sure he could keep or kill victims where nobody else would here. A cellar that was easy to travel to but secluded enough, with a strong door, would have been a good option. Many 'murder tourists' have travelled to find and explore this cellar.

21. Ted Bundy And Myra Hindley's Murder Spree

Their victims were all children, who Bundy and Hindley lured to their deaths and buried in Saddleworth Moor outside of Manchester, UK.They not only murdered five innocent children, but sexually assaulted some of their child victims, too. The pair took some of their victims in a van to Saddleworth Moor using the ruse of helping them find a lost glove - it was there that they assaulted, murdered and buried the children. The bodies of three victims were found in this area of the moor shown below.

22. Bundy and Hindley Also Committed Murder In Their Home

This eerie photo shows them casually chatting outside that very house where they committed horrendous crimes. The couple had already tortured and killed a child inside by this time.A year before this photo was taken, 10-year-old Lesley Ann Downey had been strangled to death at the house where Myra Hindley lived with her grandmother. The morning after this photo was taken, the police were alerted to Hindley and Brady's activities.

23. The House Where Hindley And Brady Beat A 17-Year-Old With A Hatchet

He was taken to the house and was beaten with a hatchet by Brady before being strangled to death. Edward was to be the pair's final victim. Evans had just been to a Manchester United Football game......before he was lured to the house by Brady. Brady hit Evans repeatedly with an axe while he lay on the couch in the house, before choking him with a piece of electrical cord. His body was then wrapping in plastic sheeting and stored in the spare bedroom.

24. The Chicago Home With A Crawl Space For Hiding John Wayne Gacy's Victims

Gacy was also known as 'The Killer Clown', earned due to his hobby of providing a clown act for the local kids as Pogo or Patches the Clown......as if he couldn't get any creepier. He murdered young men in 1970s in Illinois and used his basement to bury them. The crawl space in the large property provided the perfect place for Gacy to attempt to hide his victims beneath the large ranch-like estate...

25. The Home Was Complete With A Basement Bar And Pool Table

No doubt young men would see this as a great place to hang out, and was undoubtedly an appeal for the victims he brought home with him.The 'Killer Clown' would also lure victims by pretending he was about to perform a magic trick, which is how he duped his victims into accepting being put into handcuffs. The murder house was torn down in 1979 and there now stands a new modern property in its place.

26. At Least 26 Victims Were Buried In The Home's Crawl Space

He would kill his victims by either asphyxiation or strangling them. 26 victims' bodies were buried in the crawl space......while 3 others were buried elsewhere in the house, and four bodies were dumped in the Des Plaines River. But before he buried them, Gacy would usually keep the body under his bed for a day. As well as pouring quicklime on the bodies, he would take some to his garage so he could embalm them.

27. The 28 Murders Committed By The Candy Man

Corll had two teenage accomplices who helped him abduct his victims and take them back to his house after being lured into his van.Once at Corll's murder house, the victims would be given drugs or alcohol to make them pass out, or else tricked into handcuffs or grabbed by force. Corll would then tie his victims to his bed or a 'torture board' that was hung in the house on the wall.

He would then kill them by strangling them or shooting them with a pistol. He then used plastic sheeting to tie their bodies and bury them in one of his chosen burial spots...They were: a boat shed he rented; a Bolivar Peninsula beach; a wooded area near Lake Sam Rayburn, or at a Jefferson County beach. Corll's family actually owned a lakeside log cabin at Lake Sam Rayburn, which no doubt made it easier for him to use that burial spot without drawing attention.

Inside the house, a man named Ronald DeFro Jr. shot and killed six members of his family who shared the house with him. But that's not where the horror story of this house ended...

30. The House Was Considered 'Cursed' From Then On

Famous Italian fashion designer, Gianni Versace, was murdered outside his own home by serial killer Andrew Cunanan. Before shooting Versace, Cunanan had been on a killing spree, where his victims included one of his friends and an ex-lover. Before he could be caught, he turned the gun on himself.
