While discussing his memoir "Karen: A Brother Remembers," written in honor of his late sister, Kelsey mentioned that he and Kayte, 46, "just had our fourth one, so it just became eight kids." The interviewer responded with surprise, "Oh my god. Congratulation [sic]."

"It was like three days ago," Kelsey said, adding, "Christopher, that's just joined the family." He and his wife of 14 years, Kayte, share three other childrendaughter Faith, 12, and sons Gabriel, 10, and James, 8.

Spencer was born in Los Angeles, California, to Kelsey and his first wife, dance instructor Doreen Alderman. After their divorce, Kelsey contributed $7,000 a month toward the care of Spencer.

The two were married for two years before separating and eventually finalizing their divorce in 1990. Their daughter is an actress and producer. She has featured in "Rick and Morty," "Law & Order: Special Victims Unit," and "Roommate Wanted." Spencer was previously married to James Hesketh.

Kelsey has spoken about how he has come a long way to become a better father, noting that he has been trying to catch up and rebuild stronger connections with some of his older children.

"I have neglected a couple of the kids in my life, especially the first two. I'm trying to make up for a little of it now. I'm still their dad, so you can always have [a] chance to show up," he explained.

Kelsey also spoke warmly about the moments he considers his most joyful as a parent. "My children — my young children, older children — the happiest I ever am is if they're all in the same room together. My work has allowed me to be able to do that," he said.

Still, Kelsey noted that he never guided his children toward Hollywood, yet many of them have naturally found their way into the industry. His daughter Spencer starred alongside him in the Lifetime holiday film "The 12 Days of Christmas Eve."

Greer has even made an appearance in "Frasier." His younger children with Kayte, whom he married in 2011, are also showing creative inclinations.

Faith has developed an interest in animation, Gabriel once auditioned for "Stranger Things" but didn't land the role, and James has begun storyboarding his favorite films, "Jaws and Ghostbusters."

Kelsey is now focused on giving his best to his younger children while continuing to be present and supportive of his older ones, even as they lead independent lives.
