The Traits Men Find Unattractive in Women

1. Excessive Makeup - caked on

Makeup isn't meant to mask the face, just highlight it with natural beauty!  Re-applying it when you're on a date is also very off-putting!

2. Vanity - no one likes an attention seeker

Image source DreamstimeWomen who reveal a large amount of skin are said to be attention seekers.  A vain woman might want to show her assts off for all to see and it's not attractive when there's more boobs out than in! The way a lady dresses should communicate respect and class, letting the man in your life want to get to know her as a person.

3. Dramatic Nails - too high maintenance

Image source FruugoThe trend of dramatic and dazzling nails might be popular but men aren't too fond of this fashion. Having nails that look like high maintenance may give the man an insight into his date's personality.  Is she obsessed with herself and how she looks and is there any room for him?

4. Dry Skin - scaly is not attractive

It doesn't require too much money or effort to use a lotion that will keep skin smooth and hydrated.  Is she wanting to attract you or is it a case of 'what you see is what you get'?

5. Nagging - nothing worse

Image source Fakaza NewsAnyone would be annoyed with someone who complains constantly.  If she starts nagging at every given opportunity, she is not showing herself in a good light.  Conversations should flow between the two of them and if her negatively keeps popping its head around the door, he's going to be straight out of the said door!

6. Excessive Perfume - overpowering

7. Bad posture - bad vibes

8. Profanity - bad language is a no-no

A gentlemen wants to be with a lady and a lady doesn't curse.

9. Over-styled hair - no luscious locks

10. Chapped Lips - put off from kissing

Image source WaterviewEven if neither of you don't believe in kissing on the first date, if her lips are chapped and flaky, he still won't be kissing on date 10, although it's highly unlikely the relationship will extend that far.  It's a big turn off for a guy - the girl should invest in some Carmex or Blistex!

11. Poor hygiene - no effort speaks volumes

Women are also expected to go that extra mile by shaving their legs etc.

12. Tanning - false, like you?

Image source The MirrorUnless it’s a natural glow, men will not find a deep, false tan attractive on a woman, especially if it is in the middle of winter when it looks even more false!  Pale is interesting and natural is often the way a man is attracted to the opposite sex.  Being over-tanned can look quite harsh.

13. Teen spirit - too immature for a relationship?

Image source Thought CatalogThey are not at school any more so why do some women like to act extra immaturely in front of a man, in order to impress him.  It's likely to have the opposite effect and he'll feel like he is babysitting her!  Having a laugh and being a bit silly is perfectly fine but when the female acts childish, it's going to be a no-no.

14. Unintelligent - boring conversation

15. Phony - what is she hiding?

16. Bad manners - embarrassing

Image source The Journal Proper manners are important.  If a woman has bad manners, chews her food loudly and talks with her mouth open , she is going to be an embarrassment to the male.  He's  not expecting you to be on your best behaviour but a little bit of etiquette goes a long way and will keep him  interested.

17. Acne - sorry, but there is medication

18. Thick brows - where else is she unkempt?

Smooth and sexy is what will have him falling over himself every time he sees her.

19. Damaged strands - dragged through a hedge backwards!

If the girl prefers to wash and go and doesn't pay regular visits to the hairdresser, she's obviously not in the habit of making an effort.  That might suit her lifestyle but if she's on the lookout for a partner, she needs to up her game.

20. Sticky Eyelashes - mascara overload

21. Dull Teeth

22. Dark Lips - can smudge on to teeth

23. Being A Gossip Addict - what is she saying about you?

24. Not Giving Him Breathing Space - suffocating

Image source LovePankyA big mistake some girls make, once they start dating a guy, is that they want to see him every second of the day.  She should give him a bit of breathing space so he doesn't feel like he's been suffocated and realise that more is less!  It's going to put him off taking the union to a deeper level.

25. Having a huge ego - a huge turn off

26. No Drive - is she lazy?

27. Playing Hard To Get - might backfire

28. Being Mean To Other Women - what is she trying to prove?

This is even worse if the makeup you're wearing is already caked on, so you're just adding fuel to the fire really. If you're reapplying makeup on a date at the dinner table while they're speaking, it just screams vanity or that you're not paying attention to what they're saying.

32. Excess body hair

This all comes into a man's idea of a woman who takes care of themselves, and shaving body hair goes hand in hand with being hygienic (at least in their mind). Some guys don't mind a little bit of body hair, but the general consensus is they'd rather you didn't have any!

33. The wrong foundation shade

Most men won't even know what foundation is, but they can sure tell when you have the wrong color of it on your face! They don't like when your foundation not only looks cakey, but is completely the wrong shade for your skin tone - especially if it's darker than it should be.

This is a big one during the early days, and especially on the first date. If you show up late without good reason it just shows them that you don't respect their time, or that you're a flaky person in general. If you're continually late, it'll just tell them you're an unreliable person.

Guys will mostly prefer a woman who dresses what they would consider 'modestly', so the less skin the better in their eyes, and the whole deal with them liking a little left to the imagination when you're dating. They're likely to be more attracted if you wear a high neck bodycon dress then a cowl neck!

36. Acting like a child

Guys aren't going to be attracted to a woman who they feel like they're babysitting rather than dating, and acting like a child could mean childish behavior, but it could also mean an immature woman who's got a lot of growing up to do in terms of her own responsibilities and being independent.

37. Telling little white lies

Everybody tells little white lies every now and again, but if you're making a habit of it and they can see that you're constantly lying, they're just going to think you're a dishonest person, which isn't attractive at all. Especially if you're telling little white lies about who you are, or what you like to do.

Intelligence is extremely attractive no matter what gender you are, so a guy is likely going to find it more attractive if you're educated or if you show that you like to educate yourself (by reading more books, researching things etc). They like a woman with an open mind.

We all have that one annoying chin hair that refuses to go away - and facial hair is natural on a lot of women. For guys, though, they don't really want to see it, so they'd prefer you to get out the wax strips or the tweezers on the regular to stay on top of it whenever it decides to pop up.

Most men will agree that they want to be a little bit taller than the woman their dating, as some can be a bit intimidated by a very tall partner! Most men don't like to feel shorter than the person they're dating so it could be a very big turn off if you're an extra tall woman!

You can thank biology for this, because men are naturally more attracted to women with wider hips - this is because of the 'fertility' aspect that we're all programmed to think about, so a woman with wider hips has more 'child-bearing' hips (whether you want kids or not) which men zone in on.

One of the biggest things a man can find attractive about a woman is a huge beaming smile - and the amount of times she's smiling - so if you're someone who never lets a smile show, or doesn't laugh or smile a lot, it's probably going to be an instant turn off.

43. Wacky hair colors

There's a general belief that men are more attracted to blondes, though of course that doesn't apply to every man. That being said, standard colors like blonde or brunette are going to be more appealing to the majority of men rather than having bright green hair or rainbow hues.

You can't help your own voice, but men seem to be more attracted to that 'lighter' and 'softer' feminine voice. A higher pitched voice tends to be more appealing to men and it's likely they'll pay more attention to a woman speaking this way. And by high pitched we mean airy more than shrill!

45. No natural curves

This is very similar to those 'child-bearing hips' that we spoke about, because men are programmed to be more attracted to a 'curvy' woman for the sake of reproduction and fertility - it's just in their DNA! That doesn't mean a man can't be attracted to a woman with less curves, but it's more likely a curvy woman will make more of an impression.

46. Not having a sense of humor

Humor is one of the most attractive things about a person, because it means you can see yourself having a laugh with them down the line, and knowing that your idea of humor is compatible with theirs. So a guy is likely to be put off by a girl who doesn't have any sense of humor.

47. Shorter, less toned legs

Legs have been an attractive feature for men since the dawn of time - it's just natural that they're more attracted to women with longer and more toned legs. Firstly because this shows that the woman takes care of herself, but also because longer legs are linked to an attractive height.

Men usually want a woman they can enjoy a nice meal, takeout or snacks with, whether out at a restaurant or on the couch at home. A woman who willingly tucks into food without worrying about it very attractive. A woman who avoids eating or is picky about it isn't.

A woman who takes herself too seriously and can never 'let her hair down' is unattractive for a lot of men, who like to watch a woman be a little clumsy, not afraid to laugh at herself or being more laid-back. Being silly also relates to that good sense of humor we mentioned!

A woman who is materialistic and spends far too much money - likely more than they earn - can be a turn off for guys, especially if they're the frugal sort, because all that's telling them is you're likely going to run up a lot of debt and be high maintenance if they get into a relationship with you!
