1. An abandoned plane in a forest

The plane is actually former engineer Bruce Campbell's dream retirement home. Campbell decommissioned a Boeing 727-400 and then transported it from Greece to just outside of Portland where this drone photo was taken.
2. A Russian river turns red
(Image/ Source: theverge.com)While it seems like it could be a scene from a horror film, the water of this Russian river in Norilsk, inside the Arctic Circle, actually ran red in real life. Apparently this was down to a suspected mine waste leak, which was caused by a broken pipe. Norilsk is a heavily polluted industrial city and has a nickel-smelting plant upstream.
3. Tianmen Mountain

A drone managed to capture just how high visitors are from the ground when they walk sections of a bridge on Tianmen Mountain, which is around 5,000 feet high. Visitors from all over the world either walk up the stairs pictured here, or take a cable car leading to the mountain’s summit.

Nobody’s really sure how the crop circles appeared, and while there’s a lot of speculation it’s an elaborate prank, many internet users are convinced they have an extra-terrestrial connection…
5. A tomb in sandstone

The picture was taken at the ancient archaeological site Mada'in Saleh in the Hejaz, Saudi Arabia. Most of the remains of the tombs carved in sandstone date back from the Nabatean kingdom.
6. Dense population in Mexico City

The image has now since gone viral, and has been labelled an “urban hell” by internet users- mainly as there isn’t a single patch of green space.
7. Football island
(Image/ Source: mybestplace.com)This might be heaven for some, but Henningsvær stadium, which is a huge landmark on Norway’s famous Lofoten islands, has come under a lot of scrutiny. Many believe that the stadium is a blot on the beautiful landscape of the islands, and ruins the views with man-made buildings. We’ll let you be the judge of that one!
8. Woman swims with sharks

The drone perfectly captured a young woman swimming alone in the Atlantic Ocean, who is completely oblivious to the tons of huge sharks that surround her. Someone eventually named this photo “The Mistress of the Ocean”, and it immediately went viral.
9. An eerie church

Someone was able to capture an incredible drone image of the top of the Expiatory Church of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Spain, where the church is crowned with a large statue of Jesus and decorated with ornate statues. We personally think the fog works really well with the eerie Romanesque exterior.
10. Clown in a cornfield
(Image/ Source: bolavip.com)This is the stuff of nightmares. It seems like a teenager was filming the landscape of a cornfield via a drone in Huntsville, Alabama, but got a bit of a nasty surprise. It spots a clown-like figure standing in the middle of the cornfield. As the drone comes closer to the clown, he runs away and disappears into the woods.
11. Grey whale

As a few swimmers spent some time at Laguna Beach, California, they were quickly joined by a huge grey whale which was keen to get in on the fun. They don’t seem too worried though.
12. Pontiac Silverdome Stadium

But things have started taking a bit of a turn since 2002 when the Detroit Lions moved to Ford Field. The stadium began to fall into disrepair, with crumbling interiors and a torn roof. The stadium has now been partially demolished.
13. A car drives into protesters

In a white supremacist attack, James Fields ran his car into a crowd of anti-racist protesters, which killed one person and injured at least 19 others. These disturbing drone photos captured the scene as he carried out his hate-fuelled attack.
14. Crocodile catches pig

Which means it got to know its neighbours pretty well… Here the croc seems to have captured a pet pig, judging by the leash around the pig’s neck. The crocodile was seen swimming around with its prize in its enormous jaws.
15. El Nino

The strong waves have relentlessly hit the coastline, and the rain made things much worse. Conditions were so severe that two properties were evacuated before the cliff collapsed.
16. Peeping Tom

A young woman was happily sunbathing on her roof in Slovakia when a drone came to spy on her in her bikini. The drone continued to get closer to her until she ran off- and came back with a broom to swat the drone. Talk about an invasion of privacy…
17. Hurricane Maria

The natural disaster took at least 547 lives, although the actual numbers are likely to be much higher The areas severely impacted by the hurricane lost electricity, communication, and transportation as the hurricane swept away people, trees, cell towers, power lines, and even roads.
18. The destruction of Mosul

It was built in the 1100s, but thanks to ISIS, it was eventually destroyed thanks to numerous airstrikes and assaults. The mosque and the surrounding areas became uninhabitable as ISIS strengthen its grip, and residents were forced to flee.
19. Furious farmer

However, the house’s owner was NOT pleased about this- and we can see why! The farmer came out of his property armed with a shotgun and promptly shot the drone out of the sky. Let’s hope the drone operator has learnt their lesson…
20. Arthur Kill ship graveyard

There are tonnes of old, rusting ships here, and they’ve been left the rot in the water. Nearby residents believe the place has been long forgotten by the government.
21. Volcano at Vanuatu

In fact, scientists lost several drones as they tried to learn more about this active volcano in Vanuatu, a tiny island in the middle of the South Pacific Ocean. They did well to get this photo when they did!
22. Tubbs fire in Santa Rosa
(Image/ Source: usatoday.com)The cause of The Tubbs fire is unknown, so it was named after the street it started on- Tubbs Lane in Santa Rosa. It started on the 8
th of October 2017, and didn’t actually go out until the 31
st of October. This means it raged on for a whopping 23 days. The Rosa neighbourhoods suffered unimaginable destruction- even a fire station burned to the ground. 22 people lost their lives in the fire.
23. Chernobyl ruins

UK-based filmmaker Danny Cooke armed with a camera and a radiation dosimeter, spent a week exploring Chernobyl and the nearby abandoned city of Pripyat. The sheer scale of this now-abandoned site is pretty jaw-dropping, and is still a huge threat thanks to its levels of radiation.
24. The city of Homs

After five years of unrest, nearly everyone who had lived there had abandoned the city. Since then, Since then, more than 6 million Syrians have been displaced internally, and around 5 million have fled the country to a safer place.
25. Naked on a billboard

A drone owned by an estate agent ended up ruining a woman’s sunbathing session on a roof in Australia. They were trying to get some shots of a nearby house that they were trying to sell, but instead of accepting they were invading the woman’s privacy, they decided to use the shots to put on one of their billboards.
26. Dead man's fingers

The seaweed, known as “dead man’s fingers”, looks a bit like spiders, while the seals on the shorelines have been likened to dead fish. If you’ve got a vivid imagination, avoid staring at this one.
27. Shark vs Killer Whales

A drone camera captured insane footage of a pack of killer whales killing a great white shark, which supports scientists’ theory that great whites are migrating (or fleeing) from their old territories. Apparently, this is a very new phenomenon.
28. Six Flags theme park

The park was submerged in the water following the catastrophe, but residents were determined to open it again. After a lot of work, Six Flags is now back on its feet, and it’s more popular than ever.
29. Iraq bombing

This drone image was captured by an actual member of ISIS, who documented the bombings to create propaganda for his terrorist organisation.
30. Auschwitz

This image from 2015 captures just how large the Nazi concentration camp is, which saw the deaths of over six million Jews. Those who had still managed to survive in this death camp were eventually liberated by the Soviet Union on January 25
th, 1945.
