Celebs With The Biggest Prenups

By Emily 1 year ago

1. Brat Pitt and Angelina Jolie

Image source / Vanity FairIt’s widely reported that Brad and Angelina first got together during the filming of Mr. & Mrs. Smith (although they deny this). Either way, they tied the knot 10 years later in 2014 with one heck of a prenup. The agreement stated that in the event of Pitt cheating, Angelina would get custody of all six of their children. They each get their individual wealth from before they were together but any made since marrying would be split evenly between their children.

2. Mark Zuckerberg and Priscilla Chan

What happens when you marry one of the richest men in the world? You sign a prenup of course! With an estimated net worth of $66.5 billion you'd think Zuckerberg’s prenup would center around protecting his fortune. Actually, no! He’s a hopeless romantic and the prenup states that Chan gets 100 minutes of alone time with him in the form of a date night every week. The best bit? Facebook is banned during this couple time!

3. Kim Kardashian and Kris Humphries

These two were only married for two months and many said they rushed into it unprepared. That’s not what legal lady Kim would say though. Oh no, she has since said she’s always prepared. Speaking to Reuters in 2011, she even hinted that she made him sign a prenup, saying, “I don’t really talk finances. My father was an attorney and I’m a smart girl — I’d like to think so — you can do the math. I wouldn’t worry about that.”

4. Justin Timberlake and Jessica Biel

Like Angelina, Jessica Biel was clearly feeling untrustworthy when she wrote her prenup. If Timberlake cheats, she gets $500,000! Either the prenup is working or wasn’t needed at all - the couple have recently celebrated 10 years of marriage together.

5. Jennifer Aniston and Justin Theroux

The ‘Friends’ star was clearly covering her back when she arranged her prenup with Justin Theroux. The prenup said that in the event of a split, Aniston would keep all $200 million of her assets, including the fortune she made from Friends. Looks like it was a wise move. The couple reportedly started bickering around the time of the prenup agreement and have since parted ways.

6. Justin Bieber and Hailey Baldwin

When this A list pair got married back in 2018 their wedding was a closely guarded secret. Planned and carried out in record time, it was a magical day that epitomized their whirlwind romance. But did they sign a prenup? Nope! It’s not that they didn’t want one… apparently they reached out to lawyers to get one arranged but left it too late!

7. Hugh Hefner and Crystal Harris

Maybe Hugh knew that his romance with playmate Crystal Harris wouldn’t last (it was his 3rd marriage after all). He wrote a prenup which stated that she wasn’t entitled to any of his $200 million fortune or the Playboy Mansion. Also, it strangely said that if he were to die, she would have to leave the mansion. And this is exactly what happened - Harris remained married until Hefner died in 2017.

8. Tom Cruise and Katie Holmes

It’s hard to forget this relationship - it was shrouded in mystery and gossip from the off. From Tom’s Scientology background to the couple’s daughter Suri. Despite their oddities, the couple still wrote a prenup. It said that Katie would get $3 million for every year she was married to Cruise and would keep their $35 million home in Beverly Hills. Controversially, when the couple did eventually split the prenup was largely ignored with Holmes getting custody of their daughter and some child support but little else.
Bad negotiating Katie!

9. Khloé Kardashian and Lamar Odom

For any long-time KUWTK fans, the romance between Khloe and Lamar is pretty iconic. After their 4 year marriage, Khloe walked away with $2 million - thank God for Kris Jenner’s foresight! Not only did Khloe wangle a nice sum of money off the back of the breakup, she also got court side tickets to the Lakers' games, a new car (every time a lease runs out), $5,000 a month for shopping, and of course, a $1,000 monthly beauty allowance. Mental.

10. Britney Spears and Kevin Federline

Back in 2014, troubled singer Britney Spears fell in love with her backup dancer Kevin Federline. They entered into a whirlwind romance and were engaged just 3 months later! With Spears and Federline having very different financials, it’s no wonder a prenup was written. After divorcing in 2007, it emerged that Spears left Federline $1.3 million and $20,000 a month for child support - pretty generous if you ask me.

11. Jennifer Lopez and Ben Affleck

Despite getting engaged and oh-so-close to tying the knot, this Hollywood couple’s romance fizzled out after, you guessed it, disagreements over the prenup. J-Lo was due to get half of Ben Affleck's earnings if he cheated but Affleck was having none of it. Weirder still, some claim that Affleck demanded $5 million just for marrying Lopez, as well as adding a clause guaranteeing sex at least four times a week with his new bride! I think she was lucky to escape that relationship by the sounds of it.

12. Beyoncé and Jay-Z

A-list royalty, Beyoncé and Jay-Z have now been together for nearly 20 years and are one of the few couples in this list who have yet to split. Amazing really when you consider the average Hollywood relationship ends as quickly as it started. But if the couple were to split what would happen? The duo have a $1.16 billion net worth between them so getting something on paper seems pretty wise. Should they split, Beyonce gets $5 million per child but that doesn’t mean she gets full custody - they’ll split that 50/50 should they get divorced.

13. Gwen Stefani and Gavin Rossdale

When the "Hollaback Girl" singer marred Gavin Rossdale in 2002 no prenup was in place meaning if the pair were to split, their fortunes would be shared. Fortunately for Gwen, when they did file for divorce in 2015, Rossdale agreed to an ‘unequal split’ which allowed Ms Stefani to take more than him. If only all separations could be this amicable…

14. Nicole Kidman and Keith Urban

Having previously married (and divorced) Tom Cruise, it’s little wonder why Nicole Kidman got to work on her prenup ASAP before marrying Keith Urban. Sounds as though Urban gets a good deal though if they were to split - $640,000 a year for the duration of the couple's marriage. Urban is an ex coke addict, so also written into their agreement is a clause that states he loses the money if he relapses, clever.

15. Kim Kardashian and Kanye West

As we know, the romance between Yeezy and Kimmy K is no more. So what did the pair’s prenup say and how did they split their fortunes? Kim was due to receive $1 million for each year they were together, which sounds like a pretty good deal to me. What about Kanye? Well, he was so in love that he decided against a prenup asking simply that Kris Jenner would have no involvement in their marriage decisions!

16. Jessica Simpson and Tony Romo

Image source / East Bay Times
Although the pair never married, NFL quarterback Tony Romo was engaged to Jessica Simpson in 2009 and the pair wrote a pretty controversial prenup. In what is dubbed a ‘lifestyle clause’ Romo applied some pretty cruel restrictions to Simpson’s appearance. For every pound Simpson gained while married to him, she was to pay him $500,000! Thank god she never married him, he sounds so shallow!

17. Jessica Simpson and Nick Lachey

Perhaps this first experience put Jessica off prenups. It certainly seems the case as she never had one when marrying Nick Lachey. Despite Nick encouraging a prenup signing, Jessica refused, explaining, “The funny thing is that Nick wanted me to sign a prenup, and I was so offended. I was like, ‘But we’re going to be together for the rest of our lives!'” She regretted that though… Speaking on The Dr. Oz Show in 2020, she said “I wish I would have signed a prenup!”

18. Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez

After meeting on the set of Dark Tide back in 2010, Halle Berry and Oliver Martinez quickly hit it off and married just 3 years later in 2013. Sadly, it wasn’t to last with some saying Martinez’s temper drove Helle away. Good job they had a prenup then. When filing for divorce, Berry’s lawers explained that “no spousal support shall be awarded to either party [as per the prenup]”. Ouch.

19. Michael Douglas and Catherine Zeta-Jones

After 13 years of marriage, this couple decided to call it quits back in 2013. Luckily for Catherine, their prenup stated she received $2.8 million for every year she was married to Douglas. That's over $36 million, wow! On top of this, Zeta-Jones gets an extra $5 million if Douglas is ever caught cheating. It was revealed that he contracted throat cancer after oral sex with another woman so we can only assume Catherine got ger extra $5 million..!

20. George Clooney and Amal Alamuddin

Amal Alamuddin is an international lawyer so naturally she got a tight prenup before marrying Hollywood actor George Clooney. Clooney is worth over $200 million so we don’t blame Amal for wanting to lock in her slice of the pie. So what would she get if they were to split? Well, the exact figure is a closely guarded secret but rumor has it it’s a hefty sum.

21. Tiger Woods and Elin Nordegen

Tiger Woods is pretty well known for his scandalous love life. Despite dating some of the most beautiful women in the world, the golfer just can’t seem to stay faithful. This is exactly what happened when he was married to Swedish model Elin Nordegen. Clearly Elin has both beauty and brains though as she was able to negotiate a $110 million pay out. Apparently Woods was desperate not to lose her, offering a raise on the $110 million to $200 if she gave him a second chance. Safe to say she didn’t - money can;t buy happiness, Tiger.

22. Seth Rogen and Lauren Miller

It was Seth Rogen’s astute business manager who suggested he get a prenup before marrying Lauren Miller back in 2021. Not one to be told how to live his life, Seth ignored the advice. This quote from an interview with Howard Stern in 2011 gives some insight into his rationale, “"Marriage can be expensive, and if I lose millions, then it'll be the best millions I've spent.”

23. Charlie Sheen and Denise Richards

If there’s any man I’d be wary of marrying it would be playboy Charlie Sheen. Seems like Denise Richards was equally unsure when they tied the knot as she insisted on a prenup. If Sheen cheated, the prenup said that Denise would get $4 million. Plus, for every year she stayed married to Sheen she was set to get $300,000. She must be extremely persuasive as apparently Charlie Sheen doesn’t believe in prenups, maybe he should have - the pair split in 2006.

24. Steven Spielberg and Amy Irving

Image source / Showbiz Cheat Sheet
Amy Irving is the leading Carrie actress and she married film director and mogul Steven Spielberg back in the 80s. Sadly, like so many Hollywood romances, it was just 4 years before the couple split, with Spielberg hooking up with a new actress. Although Spielberg claimed to have a prenup, it was dismissed in court due to being written on a napkin! Irving lucked out and received half of her husband’s $200 million fortune!

25. Ice-T and Coco Austin

Married back in 2005, this rapper and model duo are another rare example of a celebrity couple who have gone the distance. So, is it love or one heck of a prenup that's keeping them together? According to Pastor Bishop Don “Magic” Juan (who married the duo), their prenup includes a clause stating that Coco would have to return her breast and buttock implants!

26. Dax Shepard and Kristen Bell

Dax Shepard explained the conversations he had with Kristen Bell before the pair married in 2013: "I said 'No, I don't want a prenup,' but I really wanted a prenup. Really bad. But I said no, I don't want one… Something good came over me for once and I made the right decision. But the joke is now on her because she's become much more successful than me and has much more money than me."

27. Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade

There was no legal agreement in place when the Bring it On star married NFL player Chris Howard back in 2001. This resulted in a messy split and she vowed never to make the same mistake when marrying Dwyane Wade - "The biggest difference between this and the last marriage will be a prenup –  at my insistence. When you have your own stuff, you don't need to worry about anyone else's stuff. So everyone should go into the relationship knowing 'I'm here for you and you're here for me.' And the reality is, I’ve never seen Dwyane balance a checkbook. I've got to protect my stuff. It's the wave of the future, protecting your stuff."

28. Stassi Schroeder and Beau Clark

Bizarrely, The Vanderpump Rules star Stassi Schroeder has said that she finds her prenup romantic. Her engagement to Beau Clark was announced in July 2019. At the time, the actress spoke about her prenup, saying, “I feel like people look at that as like a dirty thing that we shouldn’t talk about, but it’s honestly, I feel like there is some romanticism to it. Being able to be so close to someone that you’re willing to have those uncomfortable conversations ... it’s brought me closer to Beau the more that we talk about it.” Fair enough!

29. Teresa Giudice and Joe Giudice

Teresa Giudice claims it was Joe who "made [her] sign a prenup". "A week before we were getting married, Joe asked me to sign a prenup and I just felt when you love someone, you don’t do that," she explained, saying she was close to cancelling the wedding as a result. "Being Italian, I have old-school parents, and it’s an embarrassing thing to call off a wedding." She begrudgingly agreed to it but told him, "I didn’t even read it, I just said, ‘I want you to put one thing in there. If you ever cheat, the prenup is void.'"

30. David Foster and Katharine McPhee

This pair married in 2019 and it wasn’t long until they started joking about a prenup. When out promoting Foster’s “Hitman Tour,” McPhee laughed and said, “You’re using me for my talents!” Foster’s reply? “Totally!” McPhee later added, “I’ll have to take five percent.” - a definite hint at the couple’s prenup.

31. Elizabeth Taylor And Larry Fortensky

When legendary actress Elizabeth Taylor married her seventh (and final) husband Larry Fortensky, their prenuptial agreement stated that he would get 1 million dollars after five years of being married to the starlet.

32. Donald Trump And Ivana Trump

It's no surprise that someone like Trump with a hefty income would have a prenup. When he was married to his first wife, Ivana, they had an agreement which was actually challenged by Ivana - who then ended up walking away with a bit more than she should have, including 20 million dollars in cash.

33. Madonna And Guy Ritchie

Both Material Girl Madonna and ex-husband Guy Ritchie are well off enough on their own, but put them together and that's A LOT of monies. The pair did put a prenup in place, but when they split, they didn't even end up sticking to the rules of the prenup, and Guy Ritchie left the marriage with an alleged 76 million dollars!

34. Jack Welch And Jane Beasley Welch

When Jane Beasley married billionaire CEO Jack Welch, they (understandably) signed a prenup. The agreement did have a clause in it, though, that said the prenup would be void if they were together for longer than 10 years. They were - but then they split, and Jane had to push for what she was owed!

35. Michael Jordan And Juanita Jordan

Basketball pro Michael Jordan was married to Juanita for 17 years. Before their marriage, they'd signed a prenup agreement which fairly said she could get half of the future. But when they actually split, she only got a third instead of half (we say 'only' as though it wasn't still millions).

36. Robert Johnson And Sheila Johnson

Robert Johnson is the co-founder of BET and a billionaire who signed a prenup with his wife Sheila Johnson - who he split from after 3o years of marriage. She was awarded half their assets due to the prenup, and was awarded a whopping $400 million.

37. Chris Rock And Malaak Compton-Rock

Unfortunately for comedian Chris Rock, his prenup actually had an expiration date - which happened to be right before he actually got divorced. His wife apparently waited until the prenup expired to file for divorce so that she could potentially get her hands on a lot more money.

38. Rosanne Barr And Tom Arnold

This pair are more a warning of why a prenup is needed than actually going through a whopping big one. You see, Rosanne originally thought the idea of a prenup was horrific and even fired the lawyers that suggested it. Later, their marriage ended with a rather expensive 50 million dollar divorce settlement.

39. Mel Gibson And Robyn Denise Gibson

Another example of a huge divorce settlement from two people who mistakenly decided NOT to get a prenup - actor Mel Gibson and Robyn Denise Gibson's divorce cost Mel a reported 450 million dollars to hand over to his now ex-wife.

40. Paul McCartney And Heather Mills

McCartney decided that he didn't want or need a prenup for his marriage to Heather Mills - which he probably later regretted quite a bit when the pair split and he had to pay up 33 million dollars, on top of child support every year. Oops!

41. Jeff Bezos And MacKenzie Bezos

If anyone needs a prenup, it's gotta be the richest person in the world - but nope, Jeff Bezos didn't make one with his ex-wife MacKenzie, and the pair got divorced after 25 years of marriage. MacKenzie's net worth after the divorce then became more than 68 billion dollars.

42. Eleanor Of Aquitaine And Louis VII Of France

Image Source / Olivia Longueville - Tumblr
Let's through a little historical flavour in here! So when queen consort of France married Louis VII, she made a 'prenup' in that they agreed she would be able to protect her own rights of the region she was from. When their marriage was later annulled, the prenup agreement they'd made worked in her favor and she kept her titles and rights. Yes queen.

43. Queen Elizabeth II And Prince Philip

Queen Elizabeth II and Prince Philip's marriage was one that lasted 74 years. They never had to worry about a prenup agreement, because their commitment was for life. But that doesn't mean that they didn't still have a pre-marriage agreement. Philip needed to drop his Greek and Danish titles, as well as his original surname, before he could be allowed to marry into the monarchy.

44. Marc Daly And Kenya Moore

Kenya Moore of Real Housewives of Atlanta fame didn't have a prenup when she married Marc Daly - which meant they didn't have one when they got divorced, either. It was Marc who refused to sign the prenup, saying that he wouldn't marry someone with a prenup...

45. Luann De Lessups And Tom D'Agostino

This pair did, in fact, say yes to a prenup - as well as yes to married - and it's a good job they did, because they divorced after only seven months of marriage. They recognised that they both had pretty big assets - with Tom D'Agostino having a huge business - so a prenup was the way to go.

46. Wendy Williams And Kevin Hunter

Wendy Williams' costly mistake was when she didn't sign a prenup with her ex husband because she didn't actually think it would ever end. After 20 years together, Williams filed for divorce after Kevin apparently fathered a child with another woman.

47. Gwyneth Paltrow And Brad Falchuk

When actress Gwyneth Paltrow revealed her marriage to Brad Falchuk after previously being married to Coldplay's Chris Martin, they'd both agreed to apparently not take any risks and sign a prenup. They're both on the same page - literally, when it's a prenup doc - and learned that it's a good thing to have seeing as they'd both been married before!

48. Kourtney Kardashian & Travis Barker

This marriage, like so many others when it comes to celebs, was a spur of the moment one in Las Vegas - which means they're probably wasn't much thought that went into a prenup. They went ahead with the wedding before one could be officially settled, which means an expensive divorce payout if it comes to that.

49. Ashton Kutcher & Demi Moore

Image Source / Showbiz Cheat Sheet
It was Ashton who suffered from this divorce the most when neither he or Demi signed a prenup. When the pair split, the divorce proceedings took many years as they tried to agree a figure, and Ashton ended up forking out a little more than he rightfully should have done just to get things over, apparently - meaning Demi received a big sum.

50. Katy Perry & Russell Brand

Image Source / Times of India
This pair were only married for 14 months before they called it quits - but, despite not having a prenup agreement, they were quite amicable about the way things would be split. They agreed to split what they had, and didn't demand more than they needed to. See, prenup not always needed when you're being reasonable, we guess!
