She decided to be emancipated from her mother, who encouraged Drew to have a similar lifestyle to herself including partying alcohol, and drugs.

McCauley Culkin had a very strained and difficult family relationship. His parents filed for divorce, and his parents were battling who would be able to manage their son, for the money rather than a custody battle which is the usual parental concern during a divorce. And so, by the age of 16 he was emancipated, and a family accountant was in charge of his finances until he became 18.

There was nothing of the relationship she had with her parents which was negative in any way, in fact, they helped her to emancipate herself. She was just 14 years old when she and her family decided to emancipate her so that she could work over 8 hours and pursue her career.

Courtney love emancipated herself from her parents at the age of 16 and she chose to go around Europe herself, travelling whilst living off a fund from her grandmother. Courtney Love went through some very difficult stages with her family and with herself.

Then, just like her mother, Courtney Love's child Frances Cobain also emancipated herself at 17 years old. She claimed she emancipated herself because of how her mom was acting when she was on drugs. The two of them also had a very up and down relationship which faced numerous problems.

Corey Feldman was emancipated at the age of 15 because of claims that his mother mentally and physically abused him. It was legally decided by the courts. Feldman claims that he suffered abuse from his mother, and so at 15 he went his own way and was no longer under her control.

Michelle Willams was among numerous children of Hollywood who decided to emancipate herself from her parents and family so that she could pursue her career more seriously. She was wanting to be able to work longer hours and at 15 she was legally not allowed until she emancipated herself.

After a 3-year battle, Ariel Winter was emancipated from her mother who had reportedly abused her both physically and mentally. The court battle was not easy, but eventually it was legally decided that she would be emancipated and so she was free to from her mother and could choose her own path independently.

Alcia Silverstone also decided to emancipate herself legally from her parents so that she could avoid the child labour laws of California. She split from her parents to chase her dream of being a full-time successful actress and so that she could work more hours and get more jobs.

Taylor Momsen did not technically emancipate herself, but she declared herself legally an adult and free from any parental ties under the then new laws of New York. So, essentially it was the same as it means that she now had full independence and autonomy over herself.

Rose McGowan emancipated from her family at 15 years old. She had a tenuous relationship with them and their beliefs. Her family were part of a cult, to which she did not want to be a part of. Instead, she wanted to move to Los Angeles to pursue her dream of becoming an actress.

Aaron Carter filed for emancipation from his mother as he claimed had taken some of his earned money. It turned out that his mother had stolen $100,000 from him, which he had earned acting. But the two made up and he dropped the emancipation file and the two continued to struggle with their relationship on and off.

Eliza Dushku was close to her family, however from a very early age she knew she wanted to be an actress. And, at just the age of 13 she made a career fuelled decision to be emancipated from her parents in pursuit of success. She wanted to be able to work more.

Jena Malone claimed that her mum was not managing her money correctly and so she was granted emancipation from her parents. It also meant that could work more legally and so she would be chosen for more acting jobs. So, at 15 she moved out of her parents' house and moved in with roommates.

Edward Furlong had for some time been under the care of his aunt. And, in the end his aunt and his mother were in a brutal custody battle, both claiming that they had the rights to the custody if Edward. But, instead of this being resolved he ended up being emancipated at 15.

Melissa Francis had a fraught relationship with her mother who would at times be abusive to her. But in the end, it was her mother who suggested she emancipated herself so that she would get booked for more acting roles without the company being restrained by child labour laws.
