Signs Your House Is Haunted

1. The sounds of footsteps when nobody is around

There's nothing creepier than hearing footsteps when you know nobody is around, or at least you can't SEE anybody. The eery chills you get as your skin crawls and you wonder if somebody is there watching you, that you are unable to see is pretty terrifying.

2. You can hear whispering sounds

Whispering sounds are super haunting, because they're not loud or bold enough to feel with confidence that you heard them. You know you did, but you doubt yourself, wondering if it can be explained away as the sound of the wind or material brushing past something.

3. Doors open of their own accord

One clear sign that your house is haunted is when you find doors that have randomly opened or closed seemingly of their own accord. You know you didn't do it...so who did? You realize it's not that windy, and nobody else closed/opened them either...

4. Something terrible happened in your house

Okay, so one of the number one indications (especially for old houses) that your house is haunted is whether your house has a dark past. Did something terrible happen in your house in all of its history? Did somebody pass away there? These are all signs it could be haunted.

5. You see apparitions

If you see apparitions that are not to do with your sight and have no explanation...then surely your house is haunted, right? Okay, it could be a trick of the light, but if it has happened multiple times then your house is probably haunted. Even if nobody believes you - you know what you saw!

6. You can feel something touch you

Nobody is in the house, you're all alone, and yet you felt something touch you. It felt like somebody's hand or skin against yours and there really is no mistaking that feeling. When you feel someone or something touch you without explanation - particularly if that is a hand on the shoulder - it is bound to give you the heebie jeebies.

7. You can smell inexplicable smells

Can you smell strange and inexplicable smells around your house. It may be burning. or the smell of someone's perfume. It can be any smell that has no explanation. Our sense of smell is very evocative and you'll immediately know if this smell is familiar to your and you house or not.

8. The lights flicker

We all know this sign...it's a clear sign that you have some kind of spiritual presence on your home. This is because spirits contain energy, which interferes with the lights causing them to flicker. So if your lights are flickering (and you don't just need a bulb changing) then perhaps something or someone is haunting your home.

9. Your pet is acting strange

Pets can sense WAY more than humans, they are so much more in tune and sensitive to their intuitions than people are. So if anyone knows if your home is haunted, it's your pet. Maybe they don't want to step through the door or enter a certain room, or they start growling and acting strange!

There's nothing more irritating that your items being misplaced, especially when we could've sworn we out them back where they belong. And it may be more than just your forgetfulness at play. It could be a presence of some sort which is moving or causing your items to move to random places.

Sometimes you can just sense a presence. No matter if you can see something, you can just FEEL a presence. It's your gut telling you something or someone is there...and you should trust your intuition. It may be telling you that your house is actually haunted.

Cold patches around your house could be indicative of more than just a cold draft or faulty heating pipes. No, it can be a sign that there is something haunting you. It may be a ghost or a presence of some kind that is turning the air around it cold...

13. In certain areas of the house you feel anxious

Even if we do not know ourselves, our gut and our subconscious may be aware of something that we are not... a haunting perhaps. So, when you enter certain areas of the house....do you find that your skin prickles and you get an overwhelming feeling of anxiety?

14. You have nightmares

We all get nightmares from time to time. But sometimes they are not coincidental. It could be the ghosts/ spirits around us which are influencing our dreams. These nightmares might be reoccurring. You may also find that when you sleep somewhere else for a night, you do not experience them.

15. You find bruises or scratches on your body without reason

Inexplicable bruises on your skin can be a sign of some health disorders. Yet, if these are light bruises and scratches without explanation it could be a sign that whatever is haunting your house is actually physically harming you in some way throughout the night.

16. You hear people talking

Hearing voices when nobody is there may be a sign that something is haunting you. Voices can be a sign that there are spirits or ghosts which have not moved on. They may still be haunting the house and you may be hearing the remnants of their memory or their energy.

17. Your electrical appliances play up

Similarly to the flickering lights, you may experience appliances which play up when you live in a haunted house. You may find that you cannot manage to work your electrical appliances when you're in your home, they may switch off or act up, yet anywhere else they work fine.

18. You find old objects in the house from a long time ago

Often in a haunted house, there are remnants of the past within the house. Sometimes, these items, whether they are photos or possessions, can hold memories and energy from the dark history of the house. You may have found these items and unleashed a spirit, or you may not have discovered them yet.

19. You can see indents in the sofa

Can you see an indent in your sofas or cushions as though somebody is sitting there? Does the indent move as though somebody is moving about? If so, you may live in a haunted house because this is a sign that a presence is living within your very four walls!

20. You feel like you're being watched

That feeling of being watched is one of the most unsettling feelings ever. You know nobody is in the room with you, so why are you feeling like you have a pair of eyes staring right at you? You feel like everything you do is being witnessed by another presence....maybe it is.

21. You regularly experience strange things at the same hours of the day/night

You wake up at the same time, every night. This is no coincidence. Something is causing you to wake up at this time. Does it have any significance to you, or the history of the house? Whatever is haunting the house seems to be waking you up at this time for a reason.

22. The clock stops at the same time

Time and the repetitions of certain numbers are common signs of hauntings. So you may have noticed that the clocks in your house always seem to stop at the exact same time. This again is no coincidence. Numbers are very symbolic of ghosts. spirits and the supernatural world.

23. Photos fall off the walls

Photos may seem to fall off your walls for no reason. There's no wind, there are no broken nails, and there's nobody pulling them off. It may also be somebody in particular whose photos keep falling down. This could well be a sign that you need your house cleansed from the haunting.

24. You wake up throughout the night

Sleep can be interfered when a haunting connects with our subconscious. We are not aware in our waking hours of what is going on, yet our subconscious may be trying to tell us something. When you live in a haunted house it is very unlikely that you are able to sleep soundly throughout the night.

25. Photos have orbs in them

Orbs have long been associated with spirits and ghosts. It is said that when you see an orb in a photo, you can see an orb appear. So when you do experience this, it could well mean there was a spirit right there in front of you - even within your own home!

Have you noticed any scratches or strange marks on the walls of your house which were not caused by a human or animals? If so, then whatever is haunting your house may be trying to communicate with you. They may be leaving you subtle signs to discover.

It's easy to dismiss strange flickers and sights out of the corner of our eyes as our eyes playing up on us. Because when we don't see something head-on, it is hard to be sure what we have seen. Yet our peripheral vision may see more than we think and it is also more linked with your subconscious which may be aware of the haunting.

28. You get random waves of emotion

Do you walk through your house and get random waves of emotion: anger, sadness, excitement? This may not actually be what you are feeling. It may be that you are taking on the emotions of the presence that is haunting your house. Now this is a CREEPY thought!

29. Objects are thrown with no one there

Have you ever witnessed objects flying for no apparent reason? They may fly across a room with force. Now this is not just a sign of a haunted house, it is a sign that you have a powerful haunting and an angry one. This calls for a supernatural cleanse.

30. You see inexplicable shadows

Shadows have got to be caused by an object or a person blocking the light. Yet maybe you've noticed random shadows in your house...maybe even MOVING shadows! This has to be caused by something. And if you cannot see what or who may be causing it - it could be a ghost.
