Charlie Sheen (Charlie Harper) Then

Charlie is one of the main characters throughout the opening 8 seasons of the show. Season One shows him allowing his brother and nephew to move in with him following Alan's Divorce. Much of the show follows Charlie's many failed relationships due to his inability to remain loyal to one woman. He is said to have died as a result of being run over by a train off screen (although we later see him crushed by a piano in the finale).

Sheen had been working in the industry for years prior to the show with appearances in Men at Work and The Rookie. Since Two and a Half Men (TAHM) he has appeared in Scary Movie, 9/11 and Mad Families. He also played a starring role as Charlie (again) in Anger Management. His exit from the show was well publicised as he fell out with showrunner Chuck Lorre.
Jon Cryer (Alan Harper) Then

Alan is Charlie's brother and another of the main characters in the show. He moves in with Charlie after his divorce where he is forced to pay his ex-wife an extreme amount of money due to Charlie sleeping with her lawyer and messing her around! As a result of this he doesn't pay any rent for his room at Charlie's until she is remarried. He is also seen to struggle with the death of his brother in the later seasons.
Jon Cryer (Alan Harper) Now

Cryer made his breakout appearance in Pretty in Pink in 1986 but struggled to make an impact on TV. Following the show, he has gone on to appear in a number of projects including: NCIS and Supergirl. He also works for the Undisclosed Podcast team where he hosts a show a week.
Angus T. Jones (Jake Harper) Then

Jake Harper is the Half Man, and son to Alan and Judith. Throughout the show he is often made fun of, due to his lack of intelligence and self-confidence, although he doesn't always understand that this is the case. He is also always seen to be quite lazy, and always on the lookout for some food to eat!
Angus T.Jones (Jake Harper) Now

At the time, Jones was the highest paid child actor of all time earning just under $8,000,000 during the last few seasons. Since the show ended he only appeared in one episode of Horace and Pete. He left the show as a result of it conflicting with his new-found religious views with him describing the show as 'filth'.
Marin Hinkle (Judith Harper-Melnick) Then

Judith is Alan's ex-wife and Jake's father. They are said to divorce due to their relationship going cold and she begins living lavishly as a result of the alimony payments Alan has to start paying her. She later marries Herb and has another child (although we never find out whether the child is Alan's or Herb's).
Marin Hinkle (Judith Harper-Melnick) Now

Marin began to be phased out of the show following season 8, this is likely as a result of her new role in NBC's Deception series. Since the end of the show, she has appeared in the blockbuster franchise Jumanji as Janice and she has also had popular roles in the shows speechless and The Marvelous Mrs Maisel.
Conchata Ferrell (Berta) Then

Berta is Charlie's (and later Walden's) housekeeper; she is seen to be quite cynical and sassy, but its also clear she cares for them all. She seems to enjoy all of the ongoings in the household, often adding small quips to amuse herself or annoy the others. Despite this, again, its clear there is a love between Berta and the household.
Conchata Ferrell (Berta) Now

Ferrell began her career all the way back in 1964 and she had roles in E/R, Where The River Runs Black and L.A. Law before the show as a well as in Edward Scissorhands. Following the show, she made an appearance in Christmas horror film Krampus, and alongside Two and a Half Men co-star Ashton Kutcher for a few episodes of The Ranch. She unfortunately died in 2020 aged 77.
Holland Taylor (Evelyn Harper) Then

Evelyn is the self-centered, spiteful mother to Charlie and Alan. Although she can, on rare occasion show a love for her sons and grandson, typically she seems disintrested in their lives and her family tend to try and avoid her. She has married a number of older and richer men which leave her money following their deaths.

Prior to the show, Evelyn played roles in The Practice and The Naked Truth where she won a Primetime Emmy. Following the show she has had main roles in series like Mr Mercedes, Hollywood and The Chair; and she has also appeared on the big screen in To All The Boys and the 2020 revival of Bill & Ted.
Ashton Kutcher (Walden Schmidt) Then

Walden was introduced as Charlie's replacement and is a very rich man! He's introduced as a suicidal and childish billionaire who is trying to drown himself because his ex-wife has thrown him out. He does eventually become slightly more emotionally mature during the show, trying to find a partner who liked him for him and not his money.
Ashton Kutcher (Walden Schmidt) Now

Ashton Kutcher began his career as Michael in That 70's Show and became a household name with further appearances in Dude, Where's My Car and Just Married. Following TAHM, Kutcher has played Colt, the main role in Netflix's The Ranch and he has appeared in The Boys and the That 70's Show reboot (90's) with a guest role.
Amber Tamblyn (Jenny Harper) Then

Jenny is Charlie's illegitimate daughter; she appears in season 11 looking for Alan to reveal herself as his Niece. It's evident that she has an addiction to sex, just like her father and engages in a number of encounters with a variety of females. Like Father like Daughter eh?
Amber Tamblyn (Jenny Harper) Now

Following Two and a Half Men, Tamblyn has appeared numerous times in Inside Amy Schumer and she also starred in 2021's Y The Last Mnan on FX. Besides this, she is also appeared as Carolyn in the 2023 film You Hurt My Feelings. Other roles include: House, General Hospital and 127 Hours.
Edan Alexander (Louis Schmidt) Then

Louis is introduced as the new Half Man in season 12; he is a cute, witty child and is used for comic effect a lot. He originally struggles to trust his new family as he has been thrown around foster homes in the past but he eventually comes to get along with the others, especially Walden.

Two and a Half Men was Edan's first role and since he has gone on to make a number of guest appearances in shows like Kevin Can Wait and Nightcap. He secured his second recurring role in 2020 as Miguel in HBO Max's The Undoing but he hasn't appeared on our screens since!
Clark Duke (Barry Foster) Then

Barry is Walden's love interests working partner and he is often made fun of as a result of his small, childlike stature. He moves in with Walden briefly until he is forced to move out and he also idolises Walden (almost obsessively) although they later become good friends.

Prior to the show, Duke had made appearances in Kick-Ass, Hot Tub Time Machine and The Office. These days, he has reprised his role in the prior two films and has also appeared in comedy Bad Moms. His most notable roles besides this are as main characters Ron and Brett in I'm Dying Up Here and Inside Job respectively.

Herb is Judith's second husband, Jake's doctor and also a good friend of Alan, Charlie and later Walden. Alan is very supportive of him marrying his ex-wife although it's because of the alimony payments. He is also the other possible father to Judith's second child Milly. Ryan is a very comedic character, although he is sometimes oblivious to some jokes around him.

Ryan Stiles made his name on both the UK and US versions of Whose Line Is It Anyway! Much of his work, as come in the comedy scene since, although he has made appearances in a few shows including American Housewife and Young Sheldon. He is now 64 years-old and has 3 children!
Graham Patrick Martin (Eldridge McElroy) Then

Eldridge is Jake's best friend, they are often seen playing instruments together. Alan is often seen to be critical about their relationship although this ends after he begins dating Eldridge's Mom, Lyndsey. He also portrays the stereotypical marijuana smoking teenager, his mum joking that's the only way he can do Maths!
Graham Patrick Martin (Eldridge McElroy) Now

Martin had began appearing on TV in 2006, and made guest appearances in Law & Order, and iCarly before getting a main role in The Bill Engvall show and then Two and a Half Men. Since the culmination of the show he has gone on to appear as Rusty and Orr in Major Crimes and Catch-22.
Melanie Lynskey (Rose) Then

Rose originally appeared as one of Charlie's one night stands but then began obsessively stalking him, moving in just up the road from them. After eight years, she finally runs away with Charlie to Paris where they become engaged although he dies, and she then begins pursuing Walden.

Melanie had supporting roles in popular films Coyote Ugly and Sweet Home Alabama at the start of her career and during her stint on the show she also appeared in The Perks of Being a Wallflower. Recently she has had huge roles in Hulu's Candy, FX's Mrs. America and Don't Look Up. She also continues to play the lead, Shauna in Yellowjackets.
Courtney Thorne-Smith (Lyndsey McElroy) Then

Lyndsey is the mother of Eldridge and is an engaged in an on and off relationship with Alan for a number of series. She is seen to have a slight drinking problem, emphasised by her throwing up in Walden's jet. Despite loving Alan, she doesn't hide away from showing her attraction to other men.
Courtney Thorne-Smith (Lyndsey McElroy) Now

Lyndsey had popular roles in early shows Day by Day and L.A. Law before having her big breakout as Alison in Melrose Place. Since the end of the show however, she hasn't appeared excessively, with guest appearances in Fresh off the Boat and Mom, and she also played Emma Fielding in the trilogy of Emma Fielding Mysteries.
Brooke D'Orsay (Kate) Then

Kate is introduced as Walden's love interest in season 10, becoming his girlfriend. This is the girl Walden finds when he pretends he isn't a billionaire; he helps her fashion line get bigger by requesting Alan invest it. When it is revealed to her who Walden really is they break up, although she later forgives him, despite not getting back together.
Brooke D'Orsay (Kate) Now

Brooke D'Orsay has appeared in a wide range of appearances in guest roles such as: Ace Lightning, The Big Bang Theory and How I Met Your Mother. She also had main roles in shows Happy Hour, Gary Unmarried and Royal Pains which continued past her roles on Two and a Half Men. She currently appears in a number of Hallmark films.
