Creepiest Family Photos Of All Time

1. Is that a ventriloquist doll?

It would be hard to find something creepier than a ventriloquist's doll that looks like a child (or maybe a child that looks like a ventriloquist's doll) but this family have managed to serve up this level of creepy with their family photo. Whose idea was it to sit him like that?

2. Clothing optional

It shouldn't be creepy when it's a creative way to take a married couple's portrait, but just the fact the guy was asked to take his shirt off and they're both staring at something in the distance... if this isn't an extremely weird family photo, then we don't know what is!

3. Who invited Alf?

You might not even remember this TV show if your brain wiped it from your memory to protect you from the creepy alien puppet, but this family is here to remind you. Why Alf the alien is included in this photo, we have no idea, but it's safe to say there's nothing more disturbing than a weird puppet.

4. If it wasn't for the mustache...

This could be a reasonable family portrait if it wasn't for that mustache drawing all the attention. Not that there's anything wrong with facial hair, but if there's ever a creepy shape of mustache, it has to be this one right here... That's all you're going to think about when you look at this photo.

5. The Karate Kids

Blink if you need help! Apparently this family were such a fan of the classic martial arts movie that they had to have their family photo modelled on that. We hope, at the very least, they actually earned those red belts and weren't just posing with them... Then again, would that make this photo any better?

6. Bring your robot to school day

If you have any fears about robots taking over the world, you might not want to look directly at this one... Sure, it looks like it could be a cute robot companion but it only takes one software upgrade before it starts switching itself on at night... and maybe its plan was to have this picture taken all along!

7. So bad they actually got it for free!

This family received this photo at no extra charge because the photographer couldn't even bring himself to make them pay for it... and it's easy to see why. These siblings don't really have the 'smile at the camera' down to a T - more like a creepy grimace at the camera...

8. Definition of creepy? Matching denim outfits

It's kinda cute if you had twins or a brother and sister matching outfits for a family photoshoot - but to go all out and have everyone wearing denim jeans, denim jackets and belts? The young girl doesn't look too pleased about it - and we can't say that we blame her...

9. Soulless stares

This is the sort of thing you see staring at you in a ghost movie - it's definitely not something you want to see hanging on the family's wall when you pass it at 3am to get a drink of water. What were they staring at? We have no idea. Will it haunt our dreams? Yes it will.

10. Someone isn't happy...

At first glance, this kind of looks like a brown and white spaniel lying in the grass - that would actually be cute, and a little less creepy. It turns out it's the youngest daughter lying face down... it should be funny, but the whole thing just looks disturbing with the retro filter! You decide.

11. Everyone looks 100% done

It doesn't look like a single family member (except maybe the mom) actually signed up for this photoshoot, or wanted to be there. So how to rebel against it? Make it as uncomfortably weird as possible. Mission accomplished. It gets funnier the longer you look at it.

12. Is this holiday cheer?

This family really have the intense stares down perfectly, which is great for them... not so great for us when we have to try and maintain eye contact! This is less 'festive cheer' and more 'we really don't want to be here'. The lacklustre tree in the back really brings it all together.

13. What's hiding in the shadows?

This looks like it could be the creepy opener to a kid's Halloween show, or maybe some strange attempt at recreating the Bohemian Rhapsody music video. Either way, there are too many shadows and the creepy stares to off camera make it look like they're about to be abducted by aliens.

14. Surreal nightmare fuel

The next time you complain about having your sleep paralysis demon standing in the doorway of your bedroom, just be thankful that at least he isn't a child with a wicker basket on his head. This looks like it could be from the Silent Hill movies - just a little less gore...

15. One of these things is not like the other

Overall, this is a very nice family portrait, but there's just something about the
huge
head of hair that makes the whole thing feel a bit... off. He might have thought a professional photoshoot required a little hair teasing to look his best, but really it just ruins the whole thing for everyone else!

16. Some things you just shouldn't do in front of the kids

If this family genuinely thought this was a good idea, that's creepy in itself - if they did it as a joke, that's still just as creepy thinking the kids wouldn't be anything but mortified at this! Still, at least the parents look happy... that makes up for years worth of trauma on the kids part, right?

17. Has she seen a ghost?

The disturbing thing about this photo is just thinking what the woman is actually looking at off camera that has made her stare like that. A ghost? A demon? Something has her shook like a deer in headlights, while the rest of the family don't seem to have noticed as they smile at the camera!

18. Whose idea was the wicker chair?

This whole set up just feels like some cheap version of the Godfather with the head of the family in his wicker throne - either that or one of those eerie family portraits you notice on the wall of a horror movie home... And it's even creepier when something has definitely caught the father's eye...

19. Quirky or creepy?

The story behind this photo is that the family actually owns an internet service provider, so in theory it should actually be an adorable family photoshoot on brand for them. In reality, with the retro tech and awkward expressions, it all feels a bit... well, weird, quite frankly.

20. Family toga party

There are some things that can be viewed as creative for a family portrait - and some things that are very clearly not. The latter has to be dressing up your son in a pink toga and making him look distinctly uncomfortable. It might not have been as bad if they were smiling at the camera instead... no wait, it still would be.

21. Accidental renaissance?

There's so much to take in here, but we have to say the creepiest thing is the baby looking like they're going full on Dracula mode on their siblings throat, while the other child looks like they definitely want to be anywhere else - or maybe fainted from the excitement of it all.

22. Homemade dresses

We don't know what it is about this photo - the very 'grandma definitely made these' dresses, or that huge head of hair from the woman in the back that makes the photo feel less than symmetrical and takes the focus away from everything else... it looks like that very weird family next door, at any rate!

23. Jesse isn't having any of it

Sometimes all it takes is the vibe to make an otherwise-perfectly-fine family photo feel a little off! And in this case, the weird vibe's name is Jesse - or maybe that's just a random name on a football jersey! It looks like the kid was laying down a serious protest about not wanting to be there.

24. What's your favorite scary movie?

This feels like it would be a very creepy commercial for a phone company back in the day - and you can decide which of them you find the most eerie based on their expressions (we're going second from the right). It doesn't make sense why the young boy would get two phones when everyone else only gets one!

25. Sister Joan, is that you?

If someone isn't able to physically make it for a family photoshoot, the best thing to do (and less creepy thing) would just be to... you know... leave them out of it. What you definitely shouldn't do is get a random person to wear a cardboard cut out of their face.

26. If you're afraid of mimes, look away

Because that's definitely the vibe this photo is giving! If this isn't a family of professional mimes, then there's really no excuse to be wearing all black and putting your hands like that. We do think it would make a very good album cover though... for a Halloween band.

27. What's scarier than mimes? Puppets

So many puppets! The story behind this is that this particular family had a traveling puppet show... and if 'traveling puppet show' in itself doesn't give you nightmares, we know this photo will! One puppet is creepy enough, but a whole traveling family of them? Nope!

28. Ah, the early days of Photoshop...

You might have thought a Photoshop attempt would be better than that cardboard cutout we just had to witness, but here this photo is proving that it can actually be worse... This family member couldn't make it, so the logical thing would be to stick her head on and draw some freakishly proportioned arms.

29. Sometimes it's about what you don't see

You know in horror movies how it's scarier when they don't show the thing, rather than a jumpscare? We have no idea what everyone is looking so traumatised about in this family photo, but that's enough for us to know (or not know). We think the star of the show is the bottom right, though.

30. I do believe in fairies

You have to give them brownie points for creativity here, but this very much looks like a mother whose daughters most definitely did not want to be in this type of photo. It's giving weird photo album you find in an attic when you move into a new house horror movie vibes...
