The Worst Foods Served At Sporting Stadiums

1. You may never eat at a sporting stadium again

As a sports fan, you're going to support your favorite teams and root for them at stadiums when you can.  But when you get that first rumble of hunger, you might already be wondering whether you're ready to brave the weird, perhaps disappointing, and sometimes disgusting, dishes served at the food vendors.

2. It has left many fans kicking off

If you do brave them, you might join your fellow fans in kicking off, as you're served disappointing food that leaves a huge hole in your pocket.  You'd think that the high prices would pay for some decent grub, when instead, you're left questioning your life choices... And possibly retching...

3. PBJ Burger

The PBJ Burger served at the home of the Philadelphia Phillies, Citizens Bank Park, has to be a rather strange and unnecessary use of peanut butter.  We mean, that combined with the jalapeno jelly, American Cheese, and greasy bacon would no doubt see your brioche bun completely disintegrated before you even take a bite.

4. Fluffer Nutter Fries

At the Boston Red Sox's stomping ground, Fenway Park, they're also guilty of creating a potentially soggy mess with, again, the unnecessary use of peanuts.  In fact, these sweet potato fries with strange toppings including fluff sauce are unique but incredibly bizarre.  Would you dare to try them?

5. BBQ Reese's Sandwich

You may have noticed that there are some strange and unusual dishes that are available at baseball stadiums.  This is down to a partnership between Major League Baseball and Aramark, a food vendor.  The BBQ Reese's Sandwich is just one example that features a weird combination of ingredients that are probably too much, including Reese's Peanut Butter Cups, BBQ sauce, bacon, and pulled pork.

6. Burgh Katsu

The Burgh Katsu is another burger that just tries way too hard.  Hailing from PNC Park in Pittsburgh, there's just way too much going on with it.  You've got the panko-encrusted ham, then the kimchi along with the hoisin.  Then if that's not enough, you've also got the mini pierogies.  It's just so many dishes in one, leaving you with confused taste buds and an upset gut.

7. Spaghetti-Os in Jelly with Hotdogs

One fan was lucky enough to be served up a gelatinous and nostalgic dish, complete with Spaghetti-Os in jelly and topped with sorry-looking hotdogs.  You wouldn't believe that this was once quite a prestigious recipe back in the 1970s, and perhaps the stadium wanted to bring that back... Some things are definitely best left forgotten!

8. The Pittsburgh Cone

So Pittsburgh is not only responsible for the Burgh Katsu.  You didn't think they'd only be guilty of the one crime against food, right?  Well, they're also responsible for The Pittsburgh Cone: A waffle cone filled with... no, not ice cream - who'd do a thing like that?  No, it's filled with Kielbasa, pierogi, cheese, and Russian dressing.  It definitely doesn't sound easy to eat!

9. Fowl Pole

At the home of the Texas Rangers, you can obviously expect something larger than life.  And that includes this two-pound chicken tender.  It's so enormous that you might need to grab a friend to enjoy this dish.  Especially as it comes with waffle fries and dressing.

10. Veggie Burger Sub

Nothing looks sadder than the Veggie Burger Sub that's available at the LA stadium.  In fact enraged NFL fans took to X (formerly Twitter) to complain about the sandwich, which looks grim, dry, and dull.  Not only that but you almost have to remortgage your house to get one!  No, thank you!

11. Burnt Sub

The world-famous Manchester United football/soccer stadium in the UK has been named and shamed on social media by a furious fan who paid extortionate prices for their disappointing sandwich, only to receive it burnt to a crisp!  But it's definitely not the worst meal served at a UK stadium.

12. Hollowed-out hotdog

In fact, one absolutely scandalous dish has to be the hollowed-out hotdog posted to social media by one disgruntled and hungry fan in the UK.  Where on earth do you even get hollow hotdogs from anyway?  And what would the actual purpose for them be?  Bizarre.

13. Apple Pie Egg Rolls

We're not going to lie, the Apple Pie Egg Rolls that are on sale at the Detroit Tigers stadium, Comerica Park, look indulgent and delicious.  Who doesn't like that warm, cinnamony, apple filling inside crispy, deep-fried wonton rolls?!  Perhaps the complaints come from how artery-clogging they sound...

14. Cheesy Chips

Probably the most depressing cheesy chips of all time have to be the ones sold at soccer stadiums in the UK. The waxy, plastic slice of faux cheese on top of barely cooked chunky potato fries is just so sad. We mean, it doesn't even melt. It seems that no soccer stadiums in the UK understand the importance of melted cheese!

15. Alcoholic Slushies

Stadium food and drink are expensive, so you might think it would be nice to get something extra with your order.  What you probably aren't banking on is that extra protein that comes with crushed-up insects though.  It's true, at the home of the Miami Dolphins, Sun-Life Stadium, one punter complained about this and when inspectors checked, they reported that they found slime inside the frozen drinks machine...

16. Pickle Poutine

Rogers Center food vendors have come up with Pickle Poutine which, to be honest, is quite fitting in Toronto.  However, for some reason, these sporting stadiums have an obsession with anything to do with peanut butter.  Like, peanut butter in gravy - what were they thinking?

17. Chicken Feet

Perhaps not the go-to snack at many US stadiums, but in China, Chicken Feet is as popular as a bag of peanuts.  But they might not be the most practical snack served at concession stands due to the bright red sauce that tends to spill out of the pack!

18. Flamin Hot Cheesesteak

Fans of the Oakland A's have been truly treated to a culinary delight.  Well, actually, it depends on if you like Flamin Hot Cheetos...  To be honest, most people do but when combined with a huge cheesesteak, maybe they had better cool it with this fad!

19. Gridiron Challenge Burger

This outrageous burger is a whopping $75 and clearly one to share. But it's called a challenge for a reason and many people strive to tackle this burger solo.  To be honest, despite the obvious health no-nos, seeing yourself on the board and winning a jersey is worth it, right? Or not?

20. Beef Pho

It's really difficult to imagine anyone attempting to slurp down this Beef Pho dish whilst watching football.  That broth is so runny and there's a good chance that the poor soul in front of you is going to get it down their back.  It doesn't seem to stop people ordering it though at the CenturyLink Field in Seattle!

21. Deep Fried Butter

Can you even get a more unhealthy clogging combination of words? Deep-fried butter.  Yes, it's actually a thing. The butter is coated with a sweet batter or breadcrumbs and then deep-fried.  It originated in Toronto before becoming incredibly popular in the United States!

22. Giant Turkey Legs

Fans of NASCAR might be familiar with that sight of giant turkey legs being devoured by fans.  And to be honest, they might be tempting to fuel you as you watch.  But imagine that molten grease dripping down your chin, and the sea of bones that inevitably get thrown around... Perhaps not the most appetizing.

23. Deep Fried Cola

Some stadiums also sell Deep Fried Coca-Cola and nowadays, it's certainly more of a novelty.  Rather than actually deep-frying cola, it's actually batter that is infused with brown-colored soda.  It's sweet and fizzy with that distinct taste and it's typically served with various toppings, including powdered sugar, whipped cream, and cherry or chocolate sauce.

24. The Burgerizza

So the Burgerizza is exactly what it sounds like... This gut-busting hybrid between a pizza and a burger hails from Atlanta and is basically 2 pepperoni pizzas with ground beef sandwiched between them.  Great for when you can't decide what to have... Not so great for your arteries!

25. The Punisher

Who would order food and let it punish them?  We mean... really!  But once again Atlanta brings sports fans this huge dish to brave. This enormous sandwich packs in fried short rib and onion rings inside a bun with skewers of bacon. And it involves caffeine too with its Monster-infused BBQ sauce!  We've never heard of that before!!

26. Cluck & Moo Bloody Mary

DailyBeast
Feeling thirsty?  Well, vendors at Minnesota's Target Field have you covered with its Cluck and Moo Bloody Mary.  But it's not just alcohol and tomato juice, that wouldn't be at all sensible, would it?  Why not top it with a buffalo chicken wing and a cheeseburger slider as well as smoked sausage?!  That's sure to quench your thirst!

27. Pulled Pork Parfait

DailyBeast
So we've not covered too much dessert so far, and to be honest, we're not going to here either!  Despite looking like an ice cream sundae, this dish from the Milwaukee Brewers is far from sweet.  You see, it's tender pulled pork with mashed potato and baked beans.  Who needs dessert anyway?!

28. Fan Vs Food

What is it with people wanting to take part in epic eating challenges? They're probably the worst for you in terms of health but at the Tampa Bay Rays stadium, you can win two tickets to the next game AND a t-shirt if you complete the challenge. All you have to do is eat through a pound of brisket, mac and cheese, pork, chicken wings, French fries, AND buttery toast. Sounds too much? Well, you get to do it with a partner!

29. Sushi

Who goes to a sporting event and craves sushi?  We're assuming not too many people but those that have indulged probably regretted it!  You see, ESPN took a look at food safety inspection reports back in 2018 and found that the sushi was problematic pretty much everywhere, festering at dangerous temperatures!  Best avoided then!

30. Is there ANYTHING good to eat?

This list might've got you thinking whether there is actually anything good to eat whilst you root for your favorite team!  The truth is, that many stadiums are riddled with subpar food safety standards, weird concoctions, and overpriced dishes. But don't lose hope - there are many who have been praised for their food!
