Signs That You Wear The Pants In The Relationship

1. You're in charge of the finances

When there's money to spend or big financial decisions to make, you are going to be the one to do it. You know exactly what's coming in and what's going out. And, if anybody is going to be trusted with sorting out the accounts and the taxes - it will be you!

2. You spend more time as a couple with your friends

This is always a sign that you are the one who wears the pants in the relationship, when as a couple you go out with friends, it's usually your friends. The majority of the time you'll be socialising with your group, rather than theirs. They want to make you happy, and so they're happy to make a huge effort with your friends to please you.

3. It's your way or the highway

Now, there's the difference between wearing the pants and being completely bossy and unbearable. So when we say it's your way or the highway, we don't mean this to an extreme. But, you get your own way the majority of the time because you like it to be this way and your partner likes to make you happy.

4. You make all the decisions

All of the decision pretty much, are made by you. It could be what colour you're painting the walls, what you're both doing on your day off together' or what car you're going to buy. It's all decided by you. That's not to say you don't listen to their opinion and take it into account. But at the end of the day...the decision is yours!

5. They look after you

They love to look after you, and you love to be looked after (we all do from time to time). They love to treat you like royalty on a normal day, and especially when it's your special day or when you're sick. You know that they're there for you and they'll do anything for you.

6. You'll speak your mind when you disagree

When you disagree on something, you speak up. You won't just let it slide under the carpet to keep the peace. You're not afraid to speak your mind, to resolve issues that you don't see eye to eye on and put your point of view across. They on the other hand, would prefer to let you have your way to avoid upsetting you.

7. You never admit that you're in the wrong

Well...because...you're not wrong? It's exhausting being right all the time, right? Even if (it could happen) you happen to be in the wrong, you won't admit it. It's like you can't, your stubbornness completely gets in the way of you being able to admit it and have some kind of humility.

8. You earn more money

Earning more money doesn't necessarily coincide with wearing the pants in a relationship, because in a loving relationship, this isn't an important factor. But it can contribute occasionally to that person wearing the pants. This could be because you feel you are providing for the relationship.

9. Your needs come first in the relationship

Whether this is because you enforce your needs more than theirs, or because they prioritise your needs over theirs, this is a huge sign that you wear the pants. Your needs are the deciding point, and the thing to take into consideration. Theirs, come secondary - which can have a negative impact on the relationship if they feel ignored.

10. You both live somewhere YOU chose

When it came to looking for a house for the both of you, you had multiple conversations to discuss where you would live. But really, it was going to be somewhere you chose, and somewhere you really wanted to live. You're probably close to YOUR family and friends, not theirs.

11. You tend to dominate the conversations

Whether you're chatting as a couple, or your out with your friends - it's usually your voice that can be heard over your partner's. You are the one who dominates the conversation. This isn't because you talk over them, but they prefer you to take the reigns as you are the more confident of the two of you.

12. You expect a lot more emotional support than you provide for them

You expect, and you require, a lot more emotional support from your partner than they ask of you. You need more reassurance and will verbally express and ask for this, and your partner gives it to you happily. In contrast, you do not offer as much emotional support to your partner, as they do not verbally request this back from you.

13. They wait on you hand and foot

Being waited on hand and foot is a complete luxury. And no relationship can sustain this full time. But more often than not, they'll treat you like a queen. It's not that you want them to do everything for you - but your partner puts you on a pedestal.

14. You expect a lot

You know yourself, and you'll admit it, you expect a lot of your partner. You know what you deserve and you expect the very best of your partner. But...they don't expect SO much of you. The expectations may be a little bit one sided at times and you can sometimes be a little bit unrealistic.

15. You express your feelings more than them

You are much more open when it comes to expressing your feelings in terms of your emotions. For example, you'll tell them when you're sad or feeing anxious or when something has made you really happy. You're an open book. They are more closed in terms of what they open up about.

16. If you go out for tea - you choose the restaurant

It's date night. You wants sushi, he wants pizza. So...the only thing to do it compromise. No, not really. You go for Sushi, of course, because you wear the pants and you always choose the restaurant! For you it's great because you always get what you want to eat, for them, not so much!

17. You make decisions without consulting your partner

There's a difference between making the decisions...and making the decisions without even consulting your partner. This really shows that you definitely wear the trousers in your relationship. It's not a case of
'shall we do this',
it's just a...'
we're doing this'
. Which, can be very tiresome for the other party!

18. You don't like to compromise

Compromise - it's not something you like, it's not something you do! Compromise to you, means your partner giving you what you want - because YOU wear the pants in the relationship. But, be careful because it is important that your relationship isn't just take, take, take...

19. You hang out with your friends and family more on your own

You have a life outside of your partner, a healthy social life and hobbies which you do outside of your relationship. You spend a lot of time with family and friends, without your partner as well as with him. It's super important to have different aspects to your life. But, they do not go out with their friends without you as much, their world pretty much revolves around you.

20. Your partner tries not to argue too much

Your partner does not like to rock the boat so to speak. They don't want to upset you. They don't like causing problems, or raising problems which could cause an argument. They like to keep the peace, and sometimes they tip toe around controversial topics because they do not want to upset you too much.

21. They're more relaxed than you

They're way more relaxed than you, and let's face it, they have to be. If they weren't so laid back then they might not be so happy with you wearing the pants and taking control of the majority of the relationship. But, they're happy to go with the flow. Or should we say, they're happy to go with YOUR flow.

22. You feel like you always get your way

When it comes to your relationship with your partner, you feel like you pretty much always get your own way. And admit it...this is because you always get your own way. It's not necessarily your fault, it's just that you're the more dominant character and so you make your wants heard more.

23. You call them out on what they've done wrong

You're more than happy to call them out when they've done something you don't like, or you disagree with. This could be something they said or something they did. You'll pick up on it, and point out the problem. Yet, you have just as many flaws as your partner - they're just not as quick to point them out.

24. You don't like to be criticised

Nobody REALLY likes to be criticised. But you get very defensive, very quickly, when your partner criticises you. And, coupled with the fact that you point out what they've done wrong - it can be an irritating trait! Nobody's perfect...yes, even you!

25. You speak on behalf of the both of you

Wearing the pants in the relationship does not have to be a negative thing at all. It's just that you've taken on the dominant role. But this can be in a completely caring way. You see yourself as a team, a team that you're willing to work for and when you speak, you speak on behalf of the both of you.

26. They told you they loved you first

When it came to the first proclamation of love - it was them who did it. This is because you were the one holding their cards close to their chest, whilst you let them chase after you. They fell pretty quickly for you, and pretty hard! They dropped the 'L' bomb way before you said it back!

27. They sacrifice more for you

Relationships take sacrifices to make them work, because it's impossible for both people to always get what they want. Sometimes, you have to give up certain things for the ones you love. But you wear the pants, and so you have sacrificed a lot less than your partner who has given up way more to make this relationship work.

28. They chased you in the beginning

In the beginning it was them chasing you, they were the one trying to impress you, trying to wine and dine and sweep you off your feet! You were more cautious, you enjoyed playing hard to get, even if you knew you wanted them all along. You weren't going to let them know that!

29. You KNOW you can be demanding

You know you can be demanding...and you own it. It's no secret. You also know that your bae truly looks after you and that you're very lucky to have him. You wear the pants, you've both accepted it because yes, you are a little bit demanding at times.

30. You're protective of them

You wear the pants in the relationship, and it makes you feeling somewhat responsible for your partner in a protective kind of way. You won't let anybody hurt them, or disrespect them and you'll be the first to say something if anybody so much as tries...
