Celebrities Deaths That Are Still Unexplained

1. Marilyn Monroe - 1962

Hollywood's most vibrant star died under very suspicious circumstances at the age of 36. She was found dead in her bed due to barbiturate overdose but a lot of people think she was murdered and the Kennedy's had something to do with it due to the affairs with both President Kennedy and his brother Robert.

2. Tupac Shakur - 1996

The hip-hop star lost his life in a car as he headed to a club gig in Las Vegas when he was shot four times in a drive by shooting. Six days later he died in a local hospital at the age of 25 - no one has ever been charged for his death but rumours circulated that he died at the hands of Suge Knight.

3. Brittany Murphy - 2009

Brittany Murphy collapsed in her Hollywood home and died two hours later from cardiac arrest. The autopsy determined that Murphy died of pneumonia however, her husband Simon Monjack refused an autopsy at first and even weirder, Monjack died 4 months later of the eerily similar causes.

4. Christopher Wallace aka Notorious B.I.G aka Biggie Smalls - 1997

Just six months after Tupac's murder, Wallace was shot multiple times in a drive by shooting in Los Angeles. One year younger than Tupac, Biggie lost his life at the age of 24 and his murder still to this day remains unsolved. The rapper died an hour after being shot.

5. Anna Nicole Smith - 2007

At just 39, the famous topless dancer and reality star was found unconscious in her Florida hotel room. The official ruling was an accidental overdose of prescription dr*gs but there was controversy surrounding her death. Her boyfriend was accused of feeding Smith's dr*g addiction.

6. Johnny Stompanato - 1958

The reputed mobster, died when he was stabbed to death. Stompanato was known to be physically abusive towards film star, Lana Turner and rumour has it that Turner killed Stompanato and organised for her 14-year-old daughter to take to blame to avoid jail time or ruin her career. Other believe that the teenage daughter did it in defence of her mother.

7. Jim Morrison - 1971

After being found dead in his Paris apartment from heart failure, Morrison's death was disputed for a long time as to weather it was an accident or not. In the months leading up to his death he had written letters about how he used to walk the streets of Paris alone. He also had a string of on off relationships that ended disastarously.

8. Natalie Wood - November 29, 1981

Thirty six years after Natalie Wood drowned off the coast of Catalina, the investigation into her mysterious death was re-opened, with her then husband, Robert Wagner as the person of interest. On Nov 29, 1981, her body was found floating a mile from her yacht and her case still remains one of the most suspicious celebrity deaths ever.

9. Heath Ledger - 2008

Heath Ledger had just reached a new level of stardom when he tragically passed away after suffering a heart attack that was brought of by prescription dr*g intoxication. Due to the timing of his death, he was not able to receive his Oscar for the role of the Joker.

10. Thomas Ince - 1924

After falling ill whilst on his yacht with friends, Ince passed away four days later in hospital from a heart attack. Rumour has it that that wasn't the real cause of his death and that his friend William Hearst had walked in on Charlie Chaplin in a compromising position and a fight ensued between the pair. Ince walked in to see what was happening and was accidentally shot.

11. Michael Jackson - 2009

MJ's death in 2009 was attributed to acute propofol and benzodiazepine intoxication. An investigation was opened against his doctors, who people believe purposely killed him. Dr Conrad Murray was found guilty of involuntary manslaughter and was sentenced to four years in prison.

12. Brandon Lee - 1993

Brandon Lee's death was the result of a tragic accident on the movie set. A prop gun that was supposed to fire blanks was loaded with a live round, which struck Lee in the abdomen and caused a fatal injury. However, theories say that the gun was improperly loaded on purpose.

There have been conspiracy theories surrounding Presley's death that suggest foul play. Some people believe that Elvis faked his own death to escape the pressures of fame, others believe that he was murdered. Non of these claims or rumours have ever been proven.

Yet, in 2009, the police reopened the case after they took another look at the incident to resolve claims that his death was not just a misadventure.

The iconic martial arts cots died of a cerebral edema, however, theories are that he was murdered and that he died from a curse placed on him by a rival martial artist. However, there is no solid evidence to support any of the claims out there, and the official cause of death remains cerebral edema.

American actress, Thelma Todd died of a carbon monoxide overdose. She was found slumped over her steering wheel, however, when the police investigated further, they found that her throat showed signs of trauma as if something like a hose or pipe had been forced into her mouth.

Rumours circulated that there was foul play involved when Irish singer, Stephen Gately was found dead at his vacation home in Majorca at the age of 33. He had a history of heart issues that could have contributed to his death which was ruled as a pulmonary edema.

18. Jeff Buckley - 1997

Singer, songwriter and guitarist, Jeff Buckley jumped into the Wolf River Harbour (something that was done a lot by locals) wearing all of his clothes whilst out with all of his friends. Buckley disappeared and was found two days later with no sign of dr*gs or alcohol in his system making it a mystery as to why he had drowned.

19. Bob Crane - 1978

Bob Crane was found beaten to death in his Phoenix apartment at the age of 49. An electric cord was wound around his throat and was possibly bludgeoned to death with a camera tripod he had used to film and photograph p*rn*graphy. Due to a lack of DNA evidence his death remained unsolved.

It's unclear whether Richey Edwards mysteriously died or just disappeared. He withdrew £2,8000 from his bank account and then parked up by the Severn Bridge. His body was never found and his family refused to believe that he had died for years. However, there are people who have claimed to have seen him in locations like Lanzarote and Goa.

21. Andy Kaufman - 1984

When comedian Andy Kaufman was diagnosed with cancer, he refused treatment and ultimately passed away from kidney failure, a direct result of the cancer. What makes his death mysterious is that his friends instigated a death hoax theory claiming he had faked his own death and would return 20 years later.

23. Gram Parsons - 1973

The rock and country musician died from a morphine overdose but his death has always been shrowded in mystery. Before Parsons body was sent back to Louisiana, his friends stole his body from the hospital and tried to cremate his body at Joshua Tree where he had died so that his father couldn't get his hands on him and his estate.

24. Jon-Erik Hexum - 1984

Jon-Erik Hexum died when he shot with a prop gun on set whilst filming 'Making of a Male Model'. Apparently he unloaded all of the blank rounds apart from one before playing Russian Roulette. When fired up close, blanks can cause serious injury - he died five days later in hospital at the age of 26.

25. Bobbi Kristina Brown - 2015

The daughter of the late, legendary, Whitney Houston sadly died in 2015, nearly six months after she was found unconscious in her Atlanta home. Medical examiners said that her cause of death was a fatal combination of multiple dr*gs and immersion in water. The autopsy, however, came back as undetermined as to whether it was intentional or an accident.

26. Divya Bharti - 1993

Bharti had a history of dr*g and alcohol abuse which contributed to her death. The 19-year-old fell from her balcony of her fifth floor apartment in Mumbai, however, theories say that it was not an accident, others say she was depressed and it was suicide.

27. Elizabeth Short - 1947

22-year-old Elizabeth short was found naked in a Los Angeles parking lot, her body was cut in half at the waist, drained of blood and posed. Her face had been cut from ear to ear and investigators realised that her body had been bound. This gruesome death remained unsolved and one of the most famous cold cases in US history.

28. Dolores O'Riordan - 2018

Lead singer of the Irish alt-rock band, The Cranberries died unexpectedly at the age of 46. She was found in her London hotel room where she was recording at the time. Her death has been classified as "unexplained" but not suspicious and there was no official cause of death strangely.

Thai police found actor and martial artist, David Carradine naked and hanging in the closet of his hotel room. The 72-year-old's autopsy ruled out suicide but left open the possibility of accidental death leaving his death very suspicious and unexplained.

Silent-film actress Virginia Rappe died of internal injuries following a crazy night in a hotel suite in San Francisco. Virginia and "Fatty" Arbuckle were in a bedroom together when partygoers heard her screams, writhing around in pain - Arbuckle was accused of r*ping and killing Rappe, who died four days later in hospital from a ruptured bladder.
