Reasons Why Keanu Reeves Is Too Good For This World

1. He always has time for his fans

During the E3 convention in 2019, Reeves went viral after giving a heartwarming response to an audience member. When a fan shouted "you're breathtaking" Reeves shouted back "No, you're breathtaking!" "You're all breathtaking!" He is just the sweetest guy!

2. So much time that he jumps out of cars for them

After a fan made a handmade sign that they held up on the way to the set, Reeves spotted the sign - which said "you're breathtaking!" - and decided to jump out of his car on his way to set and sign the big message. He left his autograph and a nice message.

3. He's always respectful and considerate of women

Known as the "respectful king", Keanu has been praised for his considerate and respectful way that he treats women. Whenever he's seen in public meeting female stars or female fans, he never actually touches then when they go in for a photos. He's probably being a little careful too!

4. He gives his seat up for women on the subway

When a woman got on the New York City subway with a large gym bag, the star - who is often seen riding the subway - got up and gave his seat to the woman. This wholesome moment was caught on film and shared around the internet, proving how nice he is!

5. He went out of his way to sign an autograph for a young fan

When James Dator was a 16-year-old cinema worker, he recalled meeting Reeves who purposely went out of his way to buy an ice cream just so he could get a receipt that he could sign the back of for James. “I realise later that he bought an ice cream cone he didn’t want, just to get receipt paper so he could scribble his autograph for a 16-year-old idiot.”

6. After an emergency landing, he took a road trip with some fellow stranded passengers

Whilst on a flight from San Francisco to LA, the plane was forced to make an emergency landing in Bakersfield, California. Instead of waiting for a taxi or another flight, he decided to join some of his fellow passengers on a 2 hour bus ride to his destination.

7. He secretly donates big sums of money to children's hospitals

In addition to all of the kind things he does for his fans, the actor also donates humongous sums of money to children's hospitals and to cancer research for both adults and children. Most of his earnings from movies go to children's hospitals. He is always thinking of others and we LOVE him for it!

9. He refused to let two co-stars be killed off in John Wick 3

After being impressed with martial artists and co-stars Cecep Arif Rahman and Yayan Ruhian, Keanu decided he didn't want to let these two get killed off during an intense rehearsal for John Wick 3. He was dead set on having them be able to appear in other scenes.

10. He's taken pay cuts for movies so that other actors can join the production

After getting contracts for sequels The Matrix Reloaded and The Matrix Revolutions, Reeves took a significant pay cut to give to other actors, and in 1997, after finding out Al Pacino was going to star in The Devil's Advocate, Reeves took a sizeable pay cut so he could star next to the legendary actor.

11. He also gifted The Matrix crew with Harley's & Rolex's

He also gifted a dozen stuntmen from The Matrix with Harley-Davidson motorcycles to thank them for their amazing work. “I just wanted … to give a bigger thank-you to all these guys who helped me make this,”

Reeves said of his generous act. A Rolex and motorcycle in one day... not bad!

12. He treated friends, co-workers and professional advisors to an all expenses paid trip to San Francisco

Reeves paid for a private jet, hotels rooms and premier tickets for his friends and co-workers and even organised a post-premier brunch for them all. "He flew a bunch of us up here,"

Stahelski revealed. "He's incredibly generous. In the audience tonight will be so many people that helped him, from his martial art trainers to jiu-jitsu trainers to hair and makeup to his stunt crew. He makes sure that his friends and family are here. He's epic."

13. He always gives his time to his fans, even when he's in a rush

Whenever Reeves is spotted out and about or even when he's at his movie premieres he always likes to make sure that he gives his fans his time. After all, he lives a humble life for a Hollywood actor, he rides the subway, he gives away most of his money & he doesn't care for the glitz & the glam.

14. He loves animals...need I say anymore?!

Although he absolutely loves pets, he hasn't for any because of his busy life. When asked if he likes cats or dogs more, he replies, "Apples and oranges. I'm going to say some days cats, some days dogs." He loves all animals and loves spending time with them when he can.

15. He helped take care of his sister when she had Leukaemia

Reeves' sister Kim was diagnosed with blood cancer in 1991, he sold his house and moved closer to her, cooked for her and picked up her medications. He also delayed the filming of The Matrix sequels to take her of his sister. Luckily, Kim entered remission 10 years later!

16. He's always very light hearted!

Keanu taught us that despite having a difficult start to life, things don't have to be bleak. His father left him when he was just 2 years old and then was imprisoned for selling h*roin. His mother remarried three times and his longtime girlfriend, Jennifer Syme sadly passed away after being involved in a car accident just 9 months after she and Keanu suffered a stillbirth.

17. He set up a cancer charity but didn't attach his name to it

"I have a private foundation that's been running for five or six years, and it helps aid a couple of children's hospitals and cancer research,"

Keanu said in a Ladies Home Journal article from 2009, according to Snopes. "I don't like to attach my name to it, I just let the foundation do what it does." 

18. He's also supported PETA, the SickKids Foundations and Stand up to Cancer

he had once said. He also supports Racing for Kids, Spinal Cord Opportunities for Rehab Endowment, Wildlife WildStation amongst others. This guy... just incredible isn't he!

19. He gave $80 million of his $114 million earnings from The Matrix  to the special effects and makeup staff

Reeves is quoted as saying, "Money is the last thing I think about. I could live on what I have already made for the next few centuries." 

He also reportedly gave an extensive amount away to make sure the movie had enough of a budget for other actors to appear in it.

20. He even has time for the homeless

Now when you think of the rich and famous, you don't necessarily think of them to have all the time in the world to give to the poor and the needy. Yes, they give away to charities but to actually sit and chat to someone who has nothing in the world but the clothes on their back, that take a really kind heart.

21. He loves dogs so much that he took time away from shooting to walk a pitbull

The self confessed dog lover decided to take time out of his day whilst filming John Wick 2 so that he could walk one of the Pitbull's on set. Notoriously a violent and scary dog, this Pitbull didn't scare Keanu, in fact he spent a lot of time with this dog whilst filming.

22. He jumpstarts cars for stranded people

A woman once broke down on the side of the highway with no cellphone reception. Never minute a black porsche pulled out and Keanu jumps out with his jumpstart wires. He called the AAA for her and waited for them to arrive to tow the car. He also drove her 50 miles to her destination like the ultimate gentleman.

23. He's a wholesome guy

Whilst on set shooting for a movie in 2007, one of the makeup artists got to the stage to find Keanu stood there, she said 'Hi' to him before he started bouncing around shouting "MAKING MOVIES! MAKING MOVIES! MAKING MOVIES!". He then just walked off and said bye.

24. He took all the stage hands and "grunt workers" for breakfast and lunch every day whilst shooting The Matrix

For the last few weeks filming The Matrix, Keanu took all of the stage hands and assistants for free breakfast and lunch each day. All of which have said they've never met a more generous and friendly Hollywood actor as him. Just one of the examples of him treating his co-workers well.

25. He gave a builder his $20,000 bonus one Christmas

One Christmas, Reeves decided to give one of the builders who built a movie set for him $20,000 to help him and his family out. During this time, he also got to know some of the other builders and was one of the only people on set to give their time to the 'little people'.

26. He's just like the rest of us

An avid motorcyclist, Keanu co-founded Arch Motorcycle Company which builds and sells custom motorcycles. The venture was created by motorcycle builder Gard Hollinger and Keanu - both of which are obsessed with everything to do with motorcycles.

28. The fact he has no clue just how popular he is

The fact he has no clue just how popular he is makes him even more loveable. He's been named the internet's boyfriend and even after being famous all of this time he still stays so humble and loveable. No one is beneath him in his eyes, and that's how everyone should be.

29. He plays hockey with random people and befriends them

This story will melt your heart... Reeves first moved to Los Angeles at aged 20, and when he saw some guys at a gas station with hockey equipment in their car, he asked them what they were doing. This led to him and these guys playing street hockey every weekend for 10 years! Reeves had this to say about that time in his life: "We would take holidays off and sometimes summers, but the game was going on for over 10 years. That was cool to be a part of. It was a cool thing to have happen. Made some friends.”

30. He never takes advantage of his celebrity status

He once queued up for 20 minutes in the rain outside of a club because the security on the door didn't recognise him. Most of the time when he's out in public, he dresses and looks like your average Joe. Instead of saying "do you know who I am?", he just patiently waited.
