15. It's part of a gated community

The home was decorated in earth tones to create a very classic style, and relaxing home atmosphere. The luxury decorations cost millions for the couple. But, the Beverley Hills estate became one of the family's most well-loved properties and they spent a lot of time there.

17. Elton John Los Angeles Home

Elton John and his husband and children frequently live in their Los Angeles home which boasts views across LA, whilst being located in one of the wealthiest most exclusive communities. The property was first built in 1966, and since then Elton has totally restyled the place.

18. It cost $6 million

The estate cost $6 million, which is now valued even more since the home has had many renovations. His Los Angeles residence is one of the favorites among him and his family and the four of them regularly spend a lot of time here. It was purposefully styled to accommodate the family.

19. It's art Deco style

One of the first things you notice about the Los Angeles home is the art deco style. While the furnishings are fairly minimal and white, the pops of color bring vibrance and life. The entire place is full of artwork, which reflects one of Elton John's strongest passions.

20. The children LOVE the house

This home is where the family has had many memories, including birthday parties, and Elton John and his husband were even isolated here throughout the lockdown during the pandemic. This property (amongst Elton John's numerous properties) as well as his English home, is where the family spends the majority of their time.

21. It has its very own cinema room

The house boasts a HUGE garden, a cinema room, a pool, a tennis court, and more. The property is now estimated to be worth around $10.3 million. In particular, the cinema room is a huge hit with the two boys Elijah and Zachary and the two kids spend a lot of family time here.

22. The luxury master suite

This is just one of the master suites within the property, yet each and every bedroom are so luxuriously expensive that it's hard to decipher between the suites and the master suite. The tall panel windows overlook their private grounds and garden and the suite is full of art pieces.

23. The extremely lavish bathroom

The bathroom as you can see is made up of silver furnishings. The size of the bathroom is more like the average bedroom, and there is a sculpture in the middle that was custom-made for Elton John, specifically designed for this very bathroom. Even the walls are extremely lavish, made up of thousands of little tiles to create an intricate design.

24. His wardrobe takes up an entire room

So we've heard of a walk-in wardrobe, but here Elton Joh has an entire room for his wardrobe. This whole wall is taken up just for his shoe collection - an entire wall dedicated solely to his foot gear. Now that's one impressive trainer collection...

25. Millions spent on artwork

Artwork is expensive, but Elton John has a HUGE collection of artwork. In fact, his Los Angeles home was intended to display thousands of pieces of art. This feature wall shows rows of amazing and bright photography which stand out against the white wall, tying in with the theme of the house.

26. A pool overlooking Los Angeles

The building itself is extremely modern (white, square, and minimalist style) and when you step onto the veranda you meet a square pool in the middle of the lawn which overlooks Los Angeles.  The whole aesthetic is expensive and luxurious, exactly as it was intended!

27. One of the funkiest rooms in the house

Despite some of the exterior and the majority of the interior being minimalist and modern, some fun rooms take the art deco theme a little more to the extreme. One of the dining rooms, for example, has very big and bold artwork, and the industrial-looking chairs aren't to everyone's tastes.

28. Elton John's mansion in Nice!

Okay, here's yet ANOTHER property of Elton John's. This is his European holiday home in Nice where he and his family stay for long vacations, very frequently. However, alongside his family he also allows other people to stay there. Recently Harry and Meghan Markle stayed here on vacation with their children!

29. It cost $15 million!

Considering this was his holiday home, you may expect it to be less expensive. However, this project cost $15 million. It's a stunning home which is located on the French Riviera, perched overlooking Nice. Of course, it wouldn't be a home of Elton John's if it wasn't for the unusual pieces of artwork as we can see here.

30. It was styled by French designers

The interior of the home has been designed by renowned French designers in the true and classic French style. Ornate furnishings and decadent ornaments are the style of the home and no expense was spared in making this home one of the most luxurious of all.

31. His pool in Nice

What mansion would be complete without a lavish pool and an amazing view? And it's Elton John, so of course that means some decorative garden statues. His mansion in Nice comes complete with this relaxing garden area for a swim or a sunbathe. The entire house has a vast collection of art, and that definitely carries out into the garden space and pool area, too. The outside area is made very private by the surrounding trees and shrubbery, but that definitely doesn't detract from the amazing view you can still see beyond!

32. His mysterious Holland Park home

Not much is known about Elton John's Holland Park home, and he hasn't released any photos from inside it. He's entitled to some privacy about one of his homes, after all! Holland Park row is famous for being 'millionaire's row', in that a lot of rich and famous celebrities opt to have a home here - with Elton John just being one of them. He sold a lot of his interior items at auction in recent years to redecorate the Holland Park mansion in London. The only glimpse inside the home we have is an old Instagram post where Elton is sat in front of his bookshelves!

33. His Los Angeles pool at sunset

What's another great thing about having a pool and garden with your mansion? Enjoying the glorious sunset, of course! Especially over the LA skyline. This is the perfect spot for when Elton, his husband and children get bored of the cinema room inside the mansion - yeah, like that's ever going to happen! - and need a spot of fresh air. The interesting thing is we wonder if there are actually any outdoor lights to this pool area or if Elton is so concerned with privacy he's happy to sit in the dark! Maybe it was just for the picture aesthetic, though...

34. He also has a pretty secretive apartment in Venice!

As if this man doesn't have enough houses already, he also has a pad in Venice, Italy! Just like Holland Park, this is another one he's pretty secretive about, and he hasn't revealed any pictures of instead his Venice home. We can imagine it's a very peaceful and romantic retreat on the water, in this stunning location! A far cry from the pools of LA, he must have been looking for a little variety. Although not many details are known, it's said that his place in Venice is a one-bedroomed apartment in a 17th century palazzo, located on the island of Giudecca.

35. He bought his first home in Atlanta

So what started off Elton's amazing property journey? His very first home that he bought all for himself was a condo in the city of Atlanta, Georgia, showing that is isn't just Los Angeles that the legendary singer has a preference for when it comes to the USA! He bought his first home back in 1993, and the condo was located in a high-rise building, with his place being located on the 36th floor. He must be okay with heights, then! Apparently one of the reasons Elton opted to buy a home there was because of the "Southern hospitality" of the locals!

36. Things you didn't know about Elton John's glam life: the origins of his stage name

Elton John doesn't sound too crazy as a stage name, and we've heard it so many times now thanks to his success that it just sounds like a normal name! The superstar was actually born Reginald Hercules Dwight. And no, Reginald Dwight doesn't have the same swagger as his stage name, does it? But let's talk about that middle name... Hercules certainly has star power! So what was the inspiration for the name change, and how did he decide? He took the name from two members of Bluesology: Long John Baldry and Elton Dean.

37. Freddie Mercury's last gift

Freddie Mercury was another legend from the music business, and inevitably crossed paths with Elton John. Not only crossed paths, but the pair were very close friends. At the time of his tragic death, Mercury had thought ahead to get a Christmas gift for Elton. Freddie passed away in November, but he still made sure that Elton received a gift from him that December! Understandably, Elton was shocked to get the gift from 'beyond the grave'! The present was apparently a painting by one of Elton John's favorite artists.

38. Elton John was actually there for John Lennon's very last performance

Elton John didn't only rub shoulders with his close friend, Freddie Mercury - there were plenty of other singers he was close with, and performed with, and one of them was John Lennon. Not only was Elton close to John Lennon, but Elton's show was actually the very last time Lennon performed in public before his death. In 1974, Lennon performed three songs at Elton's concert. It was six years before Lennon's death, which might seem a long time, but Lennon didn't do anymore performances on stage during this time after Elton's concert.

39. He's actually got a ton of famous godchildren

When you're friends with a lot of bigtime celebrities, it's inevitably you're going to get to know their children, too - and be asked to be godfather! And who wouldn't want a godfather as cool as Elton John? We just mentioned John Lennon and their close friendship, so it's no surprise to say that Elton John is actually the godfather of John and Yoko's son, Sean Lennon. Not only that, but Elton is godfather to David and Victoria Beckham's two sons, Romeo and Brooklyn! He's also the godfather of actress Liz Hurley's son, Damian.

40. The trademark glasses were inspired by Buddy Holly

When you think of Elton John and his iconic image, as well as his famous performing costumes, you definitely think of his glasses! He's had a lot of variations of them, from simple to completely consuming his entire head, but the glasses are always there no matter what. Rather than being some quirky design he decided for himself, he was actually inspired by another musician: Buddy Holly. Buddy Holly was known for his large, thick, black-rimmed glasses. Buddy was actually Elton's 'hero', and Elton wanted to wear the glasses to copy him!

41. And he owns over 1,000 pairs!

So he didn't just invest in a couple of pairs that were inspired by his favorite singer - he doesn't just have 'formal', 'non-formal' and 'concert'. He actually owns over ONE THOUSAND pairs of glasses. I mean, we know he has the space for it in all his mansions, but still. And if he has 1,000 now, he's obviously going to buy more and more of them... If you're wondering how serious of an issue it is, he once had to rent out a WHOLE EXTRA HOTEL ROOM just for his glasses! That's VIP treatment for a pair of spectacles right there.

42. He had a famous feud with Madonna!

Being in the career that he is, Elton is obviously going to cross paths with a few other superstars - and we've said he made some good friends along the way, like Freddie Mercury and John Lennon, but that doesn't mean he hasn't had his fair few fallouts, either. One of these was Madonna - a legend in her own right - who Elton took umbrage with. He's been known to have a few creative insults for people during his career, and he once called Madonna a "fairground stripper" whilst also slating her lack of performance during live shows, claiming that she lip syncs.

43. The band The Who weren't happy with him

Elton may have a fair few feuds with people, but sometimes it's people annoyed with him rather than the other way around. Famous rock band The Who were once pretty annoyed at Elton, after he decided to cover one of their famous hits, Pinball Wizard. We thought that you were supposed to get permission by the original artist for these sorts of things, but maybe he didn't - and maybe that's why they were annoyed! Either way, they weren't happy and decided to get 'revenge' by covering one of Elton's tunes right back: Saturday Night's Alright for Fighting'.

44. He has a pacemaker fitted

Elton John's musical talent may not have aged a day, but he's a man after all and he's getting old! Now 76 years old, Elton actually had to have a pacemaker fitted, and wears one these days. Back in 1999, Elton was struggling with an irregular heartbeat, and he also had an attack of angina whilst he was traveling on a plane. It was this that made him then have to get a pacemaker fitted, for the good of his health! He was taken straight to he hospital once the plane he was on had landed so he could get medical attention straight away.

45. He married his husband the very first day gay marriage became legal

Elton and his husband, David, have been together a very long time, but they weren't always free to make their union legal and official. The pair had to wait until gay marriage laws had been passed in the United Kingdom, so that they could get married! And after waited so long to make it happen, they definitely weren't going to wait a day longer than they needed to - so they got married the very first day that they legally could in the UK! Good for them. The UK was one of the first countries to make same sex marriage legal.

46. Candle in the Wind has over 26 million views on YouTube

One of the best known songs from Sir Elton has to be the emotional tribute, Candle in the Wind - so it's no surprise it's seen a fair few YouTube views! One of the emotions tied to the song is the loss of Princess Diana, as Elton originally changed the lyrics to be able to sing the song at Princess Diana's funeral. Before that, he wrote the song as a tribute to Marilyn Monroe and her tragic life, too. It's no wonder this emotional tribute - in more ways than one - is a go to for people wanting to watch Elton's performances on YouTube.

47. He set up one of the world's biggest AIDS charities

It was actually the death of his friend, Freddie Mercury - who we know tragically lost his life to AIDS - that inspired Elton to start a charity dedicated to AIDS fundraising. Now, Elton has one of the biggest AIDS charities in the world. He also made a pledge that any profits from his music hits would be donated directly to the AIDS charity, Elton John AIDS Foundation. Elton makes sure to regular host events or parties in order to fundraise for more money for the charity and for the cause, and he's raised over 300 million dollars.

48. He has a history of substance abuse

A lot of musicians have struggled with substance abuse at some point in their lives, and Elton John has been open about past substance abuse that he's overcome. In fact, it was this abuse that almost lost him his voice and would have cost him his music career. During this career, he's been known to battle with drink problems and dr*g problems. It was so serious that he was addicted to substances, though these days he's recovered and sober! It was so bad at one point, that he actually had to have surgery on his vocal chords to remove nodules that were affecting his voice.

49. Elton was VERY annoyed at Lily Allen

As we mentioned, Elton has had a falling out with quite a few celebs, and has made some choice remarks about them. Unlike Madonna, this particular fallout happened live, and in full view of the public - and everyone watching on television! Elton and Lily were hosting an award for the GQ Awards, and Lily Allen was apparently drunk before she stepped up on stage. She was slurring a little as she started her speech, and Elton quipped whether she was going to have another drink... this started her swearing at him, and the insults were soon exchanged - all of which was broadcast live, of course...

50. He had a serious problem with balloons at a Rod Stewart concert

Another celebrity feud which Elton has is with fellow long-time performer, Rod Stewart - but this one is actually more playful, with the pair of them liking to pull pranks on each other. They've both been going back and forth for a long time with their attempts to wind each other up, and for this one, Elton targeted balloons at one of Rod's concerts... Rod wanted the balloons to be launched into the air as part of one of his publicity events. Elton decided to hire a sniper - yes, an actual sniper - to shoot down the balloons out of the sky!
