1. Soundcloud was his saving grace

Before his big break, Lewis was always recording and sharing his music like many artists do. His manager, Ryan Walter came across one of his songs, which he recorded on his phone, on SoundCloud and was blown away by it. The rest as you say, is history!

2. He's besties with some high profile celebs

Not only has Lewis become friends with legend Elton John after being invited to lunch at his home, but he's also besties with the likes of Niall Horan. The singers became close in 2017 after Capaldi shot to fame - they've even recorded a collaboration together.

3. Mummy's boy

Despite his massive worldwide success, Lewis stayed living with his parents for a long time. Although he wasn't there much due to touring the world, he admitted that his mum still did his washing for him and only moved out in 2022. Bless him! He just loved being with his mum in particular.

Lewis has actually been a vegetarian all of his life even though his father works as a fishmonger. He's warned fans that it's very easy for him to be unhealthy being a vegetarian, substituting meat for chips and pizza which made him gain a lot of weight!

5. He's not the only famous one in the family...

Lewis isn't the only famous guy in the family, his cousin is actor Peter Capaldi, who has starred in shows like Skins and Doctor Who. He also starred in Lewis' music video for "Someone You Loved". And just to top it off, he's also related to nuclear physicist Joseph Capaldi.

6. He's a record breaker

Rewind back to 2017 when 'Bruises' was released, Lewis became the fastest unsigned artist to each 25 million plays on Spotify. Fast forward to 2023, 6 years later, the song has had almost 250 million plays and it's still as popular today as it was in 2017.

7. The obsession with sunglasses continues...

Lewis has some strange obsessions and if you follow him on social media, you'll know that he posts photos of himself with glasses on more often than not. In 2019, he was estimated to own around 125 pairs and fans keep sending him more and more. He even says he goes to the bathroom in them.

8. Lewis <3 vanilla ice cream

The Scottish singer was asked what his favorite flavour of ice cream was once and his reply was 'vanilla' which may have come as a surprise to a lot of you out there. One thing that isn't vanilla about Lewis is his personality - he just favours the simple stuff when it comes to ice cream.

9. Tourette's can affect him on stage sometimes

Tourette's is a condition where people exhibit "tics" - usually small involuntary movements and noises like coughing or throat clearing. Lewis was diagnosed with the condition in 2022 and admits that it can sometimes affect his performances on stage!

10. The original Meatloaf lookalike

Many of his fans have remarked on how much Lewis looks like the legendary Meatloaf. He's already spoken about how if a Lewis Capaldi movie is released in the future, that he wants Meatloaf to star in it. I wonder if they're actually friends in real life?!

11. He could have been a fishmonger...

If music hadn't have worked out with him, Lewis says he would have gone down the same route as his dad. His father owns a fishmongers in Bearsden, near Glasgow and Lewis has shouted them out on social media quite a few times! He has however, said he hates the smell of fish.

Scottish hen Lewis has become a favorite amongst the American public, quickly amassing a huge following over his social media platforms. His fame spread throughout the world like wildfire and the American public grew to love him more as time went on.

13. Lewis & Paige

One of Lewis' first experiences with love, was with Love Island contestant Paige Turley (long before she appeared on the show). That was until Paige had a fling with one of Lewis' close friends, Garry Greig. Paige said before entering the villa, "It ended really amicably and we're still pals." While Lewis said: "It was a very amicable breakup."

14. He wouldn't say no to a bit of reality TV

Lewis' ex-Paige Turley appeared on 2020's Love Island so when he was asked if he would ever think about appearing on reality TV and Love Island was dropped as a possibility he said he would be open to it! He also said he would love to appear in Big Brother.

15. Lots of influences

Everyone has their icons and favorites and Lewis is no exception. When he was younger he was introduced to heavy metal bands like Slipknot and Avenged Sevenfold as well as Oasis and Arctic Monkeys who he says influenced him a lot. He also loved Bob Dylan and The Beatles.

16. Lewis the 'seat filler'

At the 2020 Grammys, Lewis was nominated for Song of the Year. During the ceremony, a woman came up to him a offered to take his seat because she mistook him as a seat filler. LOL. A seat filler is somebody who sits in celeb seats when they nip to the toilet. CRINGE.

Lewis spends a lot of his spare time posting photos and updates about his music on his social media. He obviously has his own PR team, but in general, he's the one behind his posts (the funny ones that is). And he has been known for sharing a lot with his fans on Twitter and Instagram. 18. His first time on stage

Whilst on holiday with his family in France, Lewis took to the stage at a local bar and sang. 20 odd years later and he's performing in front of hundreds of thousands of fans. He's had years of practice and from the age of 12 he's been pursuing his career.

Lewis learned how to play guitar at nine years old and three years later he was out playing in Scottish pubs for small audiences. How cute, just imagine a 12 year old Lewis Capaldi in a pub, playing his songs for the old men in there. He's been at it for a long time!

Born on October 7th, Lewis' star sign is Libra. Libra's are known for having a good sense of humour, but when it comes to their goals and what they want to achieve in life, they're very serious. They do have a serious side, it's just not always sh*ts and giggles.

Lewis has admitted that some of his older songs actually make him cringe. Not 'Grace' or 'Bruises' but some of his much older ones. He started writing his own songs when he was about 14, so as you can imagine, there must have been a lot of cringey content.

When Lewis announced his upcoming tours, many of us raced to our computers or phone screens to nab tickets. But when it came to his tour of Ireland, you would have been lucky to have got your hands on a ticket at all. He was "speechless" after they sold out within seconds of going on sale. WOW.

25. His Spotify submission earned him a contract of a lifetime

After "Bruises" became a huge success, he received a whole load of attention and record labels were fighting for him. Capitol Records and Virgin EMI Records signed Lewis very quickly and the success of his first single was somewhat of a phenomenon.

26. "Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent"

It's safe to say it's quite remarkable how quickly Lewis' career blossomed and gained international attention. He was quickly nominated at the 2019 Brit Awards and his debut single,  “Divinely Uninspired to a Hellish Extent.” rose to the top of the UK Album Chart, staying there for 6 weeks.

27. The Scottish Beyoncé

28. Lewis VS Noel

In a 2019 interview, Oasis' Noel Gallagher asked Radio X's Gordon Smart, "Who is this Capaldi fella?" before calling him an idiot. Lewis responded by appearing on stage at Glastonbury dressed as Liam Gallagher wearing a T-shirt emblazoned with a heart that featured Noel.

29. Never a dull moment

Whilst performing at the Isle of Wight festival, he told the crowd, “I’m very rusty at this, It’s been a while since I did a gig like this, which is also what I tell every girl I have a one-night stand with." “Yes, I have had lots of sex. Lots of sex. This is gonna be fun, but I’m very nervous.”

Lewis has been known to Tweet a lot about food, how much he loves it, what he's eating, whatever really! In a 2019 tweet, Capaldi wrote "whoever says money can't buy ye happiness has never ordered three takeaways in one day" - safe to say we're all wondering what he ordered.
