Tackling the role of the iconic, original, ultimate Barbie is 33 year old Australian superstar, Margot Robbie. She made a splash in Hollywood with compelling performances in The Wolf of Wall Street, I Tonya, and superhero flick Suicide Squad. Having played everyone from an Olympian to a news anchor to a superhero, her CV is even longer than Barbie’s!

Ken if you’re reading, look away now. Margot Robbie has been married to filmmaker Tom Ackerley since 2016. The pair met on the set of Suite Francaise in 2013- and who doesn’t love a workplace romance? (Except for HR reps, that is). Together they founded a TV and Film company, called Lucky Chap, and have produced movies like Promising Young Woman, as well as the hit Netflix mini-series Maid.

3. Ryan Gosling (Ken)

He's just Ken, but to us he is a ten. He broke our hearts in The Notebook and Blue Valentine, then made them race in Drive and Crazy, Stupid Love. Now, famous hunk Ryan Gosling is here to bring Ken to life. Some devoted fans have know about his singing voice for years, following his band Dead Man’s Bones, but for others is was a surprise when La La Land showcased his belting ability- viewers have been delighted by his big number in the Barbie movie!

4. Ryan Gosling married to Eva Mendes

You might recognise Ryan Gosling’s wife Eva Mendes from her roles in Hitch, Training Day or The Place Beyond the Pines- in which she starred alongside Gosling. She also went on to play the lead in ‘Lost River’, the dark fantasy drama that Ryan Gosling directed. After 12 years as a couple they have two beautiful daughters together- the pair are looking solid as a rock.

5. Will Ferrell (Mattel CEO)

Famous funny man Will Ferrell is playing the Mattel CEO, the big boss of the company that created Barbie in the first place. Known for rib tickling favourites like Anchorman and Elf, he is also a seasoned Saturday Night Live cast member and even won the Mark Twain Prize for American Humor. Needless to say he serves up some big laughs here too!

6. Will Ferrell's wife is Viveca Paulin

Viveca Paulin and Will Ferrell have proved they can go the distance, having been married for an impressive 23 years- talk about couple goals! They met in an acting class in LA back in the late 1990s (you know, when low rise jeans were cool the first time around). She ended up giving up on the acting and becoming an artist instead.

7. Emma Mackey (Physicist Barbie)

Emma Mackey might not have as many credits to her name as some of her ultra famous co-stars, but you might recognise her as Maeve Wiley from hit Netflix series Sex Education. She’s already a fan favourite and, after scooping the EE Rising Star Award at the 2023 BAFTA, she seems to be going places! Plus, does anyone else think she looks like Margot Robbie’s little sister?!

8. Emma Mackey dating Martin Aleman

When Mackey won her BAFTA award, eagle eyed viewers spotted her sharing a celebratory kiss with a mystery man. Naturally, fans went wild- who was this lucky guy?! Thrillingly, in the weeks after the ceremony his identity was revealed as director and photographer Martin Aleman. It wasn’t long until the pair went Instagram official.

9. Simu Liu (Ken)

Simu Liu shot to fame a couple of years ago, as kick-ass action hero Shang Chi in Marvel’s blood pumping ‘Shang Chi and the Legend of the Ten Rings’. He squares up to Ryan Gosling’s Ken as an arch-rival (at least at first...) in the new Barbie movie, and we know he can bring the fight to the Malibu beach when he needs to with all that practise in the Marvel universe!

10. Simu Liu and rumoured GF Jade Bender

Jade Bender, also an actress, has been seen with Simu at loads of public functions- they’ve posed for photos together at galas and events since 2019. In 2022, he even brought her along to his interview on the Jimmy Kimmel show. Many have deduced the relationship is romantic but, as they’ve never publicly gone official, so they could just be besties- what do you think?

11. America Ferrera (Gloria)

Am I the only one who thinks it’s crazy that this gorgeous woman was the lead role in a show called 'Ugly Betty'?! Other fans will know her as Carmen from teen classic 'The Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants', or from smash hit comedy Superstore. In this movie, she’s one of the few female cast members not playing one of the Barbies. She co-stars as real-world-woman Gloria and, let us tell you, keep your tissues on hand for her big monologue, it's a tear jerker!

12. America Ferrera married to Ryan Piers Williams

America Ferrera has been off the dating market for well over a decade now, as she married her college sweetheart in 2011. She met the man of her dreams, Ryan Piers Williams, back in her undergrad days at USC. He cast her in a student short film, and the rest is history! Kate McKinnon- certified comedy genius- was the first openly gay female cast member on Saturday Night Live, and she spent a whole DECADE on the show making the nation laugh every week! On top of that, she found time to star alongside Mellissa McCarthy as one of the new ghostbusters. She's wracked up a tonne of Emmy nominations, and is an inspiration for women in comedy everywhere.

14. Jackie Abbott

Kate McKinnon is pretty private about her love life, but the word on the street is that she’s been an item with fellow comedian Jackie Abbott for some time! They were first spotted together way back in 2016, at an awards ceremony. Then, Michelle Visage seemed to confirm the rumours in an Instagram caption on a photo of herself, Kate, and Jackie with friends: "I have SUCH a crush on #KATEMCKINNON SO HAPPY SHE WON!!! Her girlfriend Jackie was just as lovely as she is!!”’

15. Issa Rae (President Barbie)

Issa Rae is a true triple threat: actor, writer, and producer. Her breakthrough hit was HBO series “Insecure”, but OG fans will know her from her Youtube series “Awkward Black Girl”. She uses her platform as a critically acclaimed artist to champion civil and women’s rights- what a legend! She plays Madam President Barbie, and revealed in an interview with The Guardian, ““I hate the colour pink. I’ve never thought that I looked good in pink … So this press tour […] I’ve been taking one for the team!”

16. Issa Rae married to Louis Diame

This trailblazing Barbie tied the knot back in 2021. Her longtime partner Louis Diame has been identified as a Senegalese businessman, working in banking in Los Angeles. The pair have preferred to keep their relationship out of the public eye, and jetted off to France for an intimate ceremony when the wedding day came.

Rhea Perlman is well known, and adored, for playing one of the grumpiest waitress ever on Bostonian sitcom ‘Cheers’. Or maybe you know her as the evil mom, Zinnia Wormwood, from 'Matilda'? Speaking of the movie Matilda, Rhea starred alongside her real life bae Danny Devito. They were married for thirty years, and have three children, but sadly announced that they were splitting in 2012. Still, they’ve stayed close: in an interview Rhea said ““We are still very good friends and we see each other a lot […] and our family is still the most important thing to both of us." Mirren’s first high profile relationship was action-hero-hunk Liam Neeson, famous for his roles in Taken and Love Actually (he’s got range!) They lived together from the early 80s, after meeting on the set of Excalibur. But when things ended, she found longer term happiness with American director Taylor Hackford. He’s know for playing awkward and shy characters- a trend set by his first well known role in 'Arrested Development', and his big-screen breakthrough as the lead in 'Scott Pilgrim vs the World'. Largely a comedic actor, he still flexes his dramatic skills in films like the poignant dramedy ‘Juno’. In Barbie he stars as the only odd man out- Alan!

Cera is another one who met his spouse on set. Honestly, I’m starting to wonder how much these actors really spend working around all this falling in love at work!! After a comparatively high profile romance with his ‘Scott Pilgrim’ co-star Aubrey Plaza, he’s kept his marriage to Nadine under the radar. No one even knew they had a baby ion 2019 until Amy Schumer accidentally revealed it on their behalf during an Entertainment Tonight interview!

Yet another Ken!! This time played by Scott Evans- brother to Chris Evans, talk about an over achieving family! In an interview, Scott revealed how thrilled he was to get a callback after his audition tape. “My manager called to say that Greta wanted to Zoom with me. I was like, ‘Greta Gerwig!?’”

28. Scott Evans dating boyfriend Steve

Whilst Chris Evans has come under fire from some fans for getting into a relationship with a woman 16 years younger than him, Scott's dating life has been a bit less controversial. But Cena’s whole career has been an unexpected journey: from throwing big burly men across the ring in WWE, to Hollywood roles in ‘Trainwreck’ and ‘Bumblebee’. We also have to give a shout out to whoever created his wig for this film- it is perfection.

30. John Cena married to Shay Shariatzadeh

This couple started dating in 2019, and it seems they fell head over heels in love! They tied the knot around a year later in a very small private ceremony in Tampa, Florida back in 2020, and followed it up with a wedding party in Vancouver a couple of years later. Shay is a super smart and successful engineer, and she credits her mom as her inspiration saying in an interview that "[s]he is the reason I fight to be the best version of myself, to be kind and to never give up”.
