1. Rachel McAdams and Ryan Gosling: The Notebook

If you haven't seen The Notebook first of all- what have you been doing with your life?! Second of all, keep some Kleenex handy- we defy anyone to get through this romantic classic without weeping buckets. It's so swoon-inducing that we can't blame Ryan Gosling and Rachel McAdams for falling for each other. The pair of Canadian actors dated from 2005, just after the release of the movie, until 2007.

2. Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolie: Mr and Mrs Smith

Maybe other than Anthony + Cleopatra and Romeo + Juliet, Brangelina might just be the highest profile celebrity couple the world has ever known. Their romance spanned over a decade, sparking first in 2005 and ending in a shocking divorce in 2016. The couple was controversial from the get go: when the pair met on the set of Mr. and Mrs. Smith, Pitt was actually married to Jennifer Aniston.

3. Channing Tatum and Jenna Dewan: Step Up

These lovers met on the set of 2006 dance-flick Step Up- and to be fair, who can resist a man who can dance? After a dreamy surprise Hawaiian proposal, they tied to knot in 2009. The couple seemed blissfully loved up, and welcomed a baby daughter in May 2013, but by 2019 it was all over. In a statement they made it clear that they were still on loving terms, describing themselves as "Just two best-friends realizing it's time to take some space and help each other live the most joyous, fulfilled lives as possible".

4. Marion Cotillard and Guillaume Canet: Love Me If You Dare

Being friends first can be a good tactic for building a strong relationship, and it certainly seemed to turn out that way for this famous duo. Having been pals since the late 90s, they starred alongside each other in Love Me If You Dare in 2003. Flash forward nearly ten years, and the happy couple welcome their baby boy Marcel to the world.

5. Michael Fassbender and Alicia Vikander: The Light Between Oceans

It's stressful enough soft-launching a new boyfriend on an Instagram story, imagine making the kind of high-profile, glitz-and-glamour debut of this celeb couple, who stepped out in style together at the Golden Globes in 2016. They originally met in 2014, on set of The Light Between Oceans where they played a married couple. Thought they put in some very convincing performances in that movie? Well, it might not all have been acting!

6. Dominic Cooper and Amanda Seyfried: Mamma Mia

Mamma Mia, here we go again- another loved up set of co-stars! Abba fanatics went absolutely wild for the Mamma Mia! movie, and were thrilled to discover that the romantic leads had fallen for each other in real life too. Just imagine being Amanda Seyfried on that movie: running around a sun-soaked Greek island with Dominic Cooper by day, and partying with Meryl Streep by night. Nice work if you can get it!

7. Miley Cyrus and Liam Hemsworth: The Last Song

After meeting in 2009 on the set of The Last Song, this is a couple that really had their ups and downs: make up after break up after make up after...well, you get the idea. They split for good in 2020, after just under two years of marriage. Cyrus set tongues wagging with her recent release 'Flowers', many speculating it was all about Liam. It just makes us glad none our exes are international superstar musicians!!

8. Rachel Bilson and Hayden Christensen: Jumper

The Star Wars star and The O.C alumni met whilst making Jumper, a sci-fi blockbuster that saw them fall in love on screen. Bilson had recently broken up with fellow O.C cast actor Adam Brody but, far from a brief rebound fling, she and Christensen stuck it out for over a decade!

9. Andrew Garfield and Emma Stone: The Amazing Spiderman

Real talk time: do you think you'd find a guy more or less attractive if you found out he could shoot webs of spider silk out of his wrists? We're on the fence, but think if he looked like Andrew Garfield we could deal. Garfield and Stone fell for each other hook line and sinker on the set of The Amazing Spiderman. Now, years on, they've split, but are often spotted cheering for each other at awards ceremonies- cute!

10. Jennifer Aniston and Tate Donovan: Friends

This one is really, really awkward! Flipping the script on the usual meet-on-set-fall-in-love routine, Aniston and Donovan were together for two and a half years prior to co starring in FRIENDS, but they broke up before he joined the cast! He told journalists, “We were broken up and the producers were like, ‘Hey would you wanna do six episodes of the show?’ And I was like ‘Maybe it would be good to work through this breakup.’” Er, awkward!!

11. Jennifer Aniston and Vince Vaughn: The Breakup

If you're like me and you can only see Jennifer Aniston as Rachel Green, you might be thinking 'what about Ross?!'. Whilst they were dating, after meeting on The Break Up, funnyman Vince Vaughn told People magazine, ""She's awesome [...] She has just a wonderful warmth and likability about her." We agree Vince! Still, by December 2006 the pair had called it quits. Some things don't last!

12. Ryan Gosling and Eva Mendes: The Place Beyond the Pines

After Gosling and The Notebook co-star Rachel McAdams decided they weren't meant to be together, Gosling went on to meet his now-wife Eva Mendes. They play a loved up, but pretty much doomed, couple in the moody and brooding The Place Beyond The Pines.

13. Reese Witherspoon and Ryan Phillippe: Cruel Intentions

You know the old cliche: their eyes met across a crowded room. Well, that cliche was a reality for this pair of lovebirds who first crossed paths at Witherspoon's 21st birthday party. They went on to star together in teen classic, Cruel Intentions. Their marriage, which ended in October 2006, spanned around 7 years.

14. Dev Patel and Freida Pinto: Slumdog Millionaire

You might recognise them from Slumdog Millionaire, or just from the excellent accompanying music video for Jai Ho (what a noughties banger). The two seemed destined for a life together, but shocked fans by splitting in 2014 after six seemingly happy years.

15. Jennifer Lawrence and Nicholas Hoult: X-Men

After meeting as co-stars on X Men: First Class, Nicholas Hoult was Jennifer Lawrence's first high-profile relationship. The sparks first flew in 2010 and, aside from a brief separation in 2013, they were loved up until 2014. Even after splitting, they stayed friends, and continued to appear alongside one another in the X Men movies.

16. Kit Harington and Rose Leslie: Game of Thrones

It was on the set of Game of Throne Season Two, way back in 2011, that these two first locked eyes. Then, the pair locked it in long term at their wedding in 2018, but when it came to the proposal he revealed it didn't go entirely to plan. Talking about his proposal, Kit revealed: "We were in the country and we were under this beautiful night sky and had a log fire burning and red wine"

17. Keri Russell and Matthew Rhys: The Americans

It wasn't exactly love at first sight for these two- but, hey, sometimes that's overrated (just think of how Romeo and Juliet ended up...). Matthew asked for Keri's number in 2002, when they met at a kickball party. Awkwardly, he left her a very drunken voicemail and, surprise surprise, she didn't return the call. It wasn't until nearly a decade later, on the set of The Americans, that those sparks eventually ignited.

18. Robert Pattinson and Kristen Stewart: Twilight

Would any Fall be complete without a re-watch of the Twilight Saga? Yes, the acting is dodgy, the weird blue filter over everything is a wild choice, and there are some inadvertent laugh out loud moments- but that's all part of the fun! Stewart and Pattinson clearly had fun making the movie, and enjoyed each other's company romantically for several years.

19. Anna Paquin and Stephen Moyer: True Blood

Yet more vampire romance! Paquin and Moyer are known for playing married couple Bill and Sookie on True Blood, and it wasn't long before they upgraded their on-screen marriage or an off-screen one too. The pair share more than just a CV now, as they're raising twins Charlie and Poppy.

20. Freddie Prinze Jr. And Sarah Michelle Gellar: I Know What You Did Last Summer

There's something weirdly romantic about watching a horror movie, right?? It's counterintuitive, but something scary on the TV can be a recipe for romance. So we can imagine that being a factor when Freddie Prinze Jr. And Sarah Michelle Gellar got together whilst making I Know What You Did Last Summer.

21. Tom Cruise And Nicole Kidman: Days of Thunder

These two superstars first worked together on racing movie Days of Thunder. Tying the knot shortly after, in 1990, these guys became the Brangelina of their day. But the couple finally divorced in 2001, Nicole Kidman seemed pretty happy about it- check out how relieved she looked after signing the final papers!

22. Brad Pitt And Gwyneth Paltrow: Se7en

Before the days of Brangelina, Pitt dated Gwyneth Paltrow- but their names didn't add up to such a catchy nickname. Branaltrow? Pittpal? It just didn't work. They starred together on Se7en and less than a year later, the answer to the question "what's in the box?" was an engagement ring!

23. Will Smith And Jada Pinkett Smith: The Fresh Prince of Bel Air

Will Smith and Jada Pinkett Smith, who made headlines most recently after the viral Oscars-slap moment, first met way back in 1994. They were on the set of the Fresh Prince of Belair, and Jada was auditioning to play Will's girlfriend- but got turned down for being "too short".

24. Johnny Galecki And Kaley Cuoco: The Big Bang Theory

For these two, it really did all start with the big bang: hit US sitcom The Big Bang Theory, that is. In a book all about the show, Kaley talked about how their romance got started: "I think a lot of what made Leonard and Penny work so well was my relationship with Johnny off camera". However, unlike their characters, their relationship ended in a split rather than marriage.

25. Penelope Cruz And Javier Bardem: Jamón, Jamón

These two lookers initially met in 1992, filming a movie called Jamón, Jamón, but it wasn't until 2007 that they got together. Reunited on the set of Vicky Cristina Barcelona, they started their romantic partnership. Flash forward and they have two beautiful kids, Leo and Luna, and seemingly a perfect marriage. We're jealous!

26. Kurt Russell And Goldie Hawn: Swing Shift

Here's to a couple of golden oldies! These were another pair that didn't rush into anything. By the time they started dating on the set of Swing Shift (1984) they'd already known each other for over a decade! Despite never tying the knot, the pair are going strong to this day. The secret to their long-lived romance? Goldie claims it's separate bathrooms!

27. Daniel Craig And Rachel Weisz: Dream House

Bond heart throb Daniel Craig has a history of leaving viewers both shaken and stirred with his suave ways and sophisticated style. Well, 007 crushers are set for disappointment, as Craig tied the knot with fellow actor Rachel Weiss back in 2011. He may be married, but he's clearly not handed in his license to thrill!

28. Johnny Depp And Winona Ryder: Edward Scissorhands

Ah, Edward Scissorhands, it's got everything: romance, intrigue, a man with scissors for hands- what more could you want?! During filming, Depp was so obsessed with the Stranger Things star that he got a tattoo on his arm that said "Winona forever". That's pretty intense!

29. Zac Efron And Vanessa Hudgens: High School Musical

Who could forget High School Musical? Whether you were happily bopping to the top, or desperately trying to
break free
of the musical mania (see what we did there?!), there was no escaping this all-singing, all-dancing sensation. Troy (Efron) and Gabriella (Hudgens) took the romance into the real world, and ended up dating for around five years.

30. Alexis Bledel And Vincent Kartheiser: Mad Men

Whilst most know Alexis Bledel as fast-talking bookworm Rory Gilmore, she also played a part in hit drama Mad Men. Her illicit romance with the character Pete Campbell was a racy storyline, and it turned out that sparks flew between the pair IRL too.
